  • Today I talk about the Kahr Arms K40 .40 S&W pistol. This review would also pertain to the larger T40 the smaller MK40 and the 9mm versions T9 K9 and MK9. I go over the features of the handgun, performance and field stripping. I also talk about replacing the sights.

I bought mine in the early to mid 90's as a backup pistol and for off duty carry. Our range officer took it and shot a golf ball size group at twenty five yards the first time he shot it. So accuracy is very good and it has never missed a beat when the trigger is pulled. Great little gun. I carry dept. Winchester Ranger 180 grain hollow points. Recoil is not bad on this pistol, but my son has the P40 and it is a beast to shoot.

I wish my K40 was as easy to pull back with one hand to align the take-down pin as yours seem to be. All my Kahr Pistols are little buggers. But I love them dearly.

I saw some of these at the last gun show but, I didn't know that much about 'em. Sounds like a solid firearm. Great review!

Kahr makes a ported version of the .40 barrel that you can get if you're into shooting a 9mm or a neutered cartridge. Additionally Kahr makes a . 380 or castrated round for people without hand strength. Glock perfected it and Kahr simplified it.

Thanks! I don't have that holster anymore so I can't look at it.. though it might have been for the S&W 3913 with round trigger guard.

I was shooting my k40 today along with my new sig 225a-1. The sig is a very nice shooter and a good pistol for concealed carry. But after shooting the Kahr I was wondering why I bought the Sig. the k40 is a terrific firearm.

Thank You for all your info. I have a 40, like your's, but mind lock's back every round that I shoot? So I have a death grip on this gun, and it still only fire's 1 round?? I love this gun for the same reason that you like it!!! It must be too powerful of ammo!!

It definitely has a problem, though probably an easy fix. Does it happen with all magazines? Could be the mag if you haven't tried others. If not, then it's probably just the slide stop out of spec. Both easy fixes.

Thank You, I'll check into the mag's. I've had the slide stop spring changed? The guy at the gun store replaced it? He's not an armorer....

Ok radioqrp, What do I look for on the mag issue? I'f never had this problem? Kahr 40? I'am at the point to sell it back to the gun store, I would thank you if you could help!!

Often it's the spring being to weak, since you might bring it back you dont' want to buy springs so try this trick. Take the spring apart and take the spring out and stretch it so it becomes about an inch longer and stronger than it was. Then try it out. This isn't a permanent fix, but if it stops the problem you just need new mag springs. Otherwise there probably is something wrong with the slide stop. Ask the gun store to repair it. If they won't then you might have to return it. These guns are getting pretty expensive new, like $800 bucks, so if you got it cheap it may be worth having fixed if he won't do it.
