Lyrics:
Lon-dubh a' seinn ann an dubhar na h-oidhche
tog do sgiathan brist' is èirigh suas
fad do rè, bha thu a' feitheamh airson an tìd' gu togail rithe.
Lon-dubh a' seinn ann an dubhar na h-oidhche,
tog an sgàil bho d' shùil is seall gu geur
fad do rè, bha thu a' feitheamh airson an tioc a bhios tu saor.
Lon-dubh sgèith, lon-dubh sgèith,
Steach dhan t-sòlas dubh na h-oidhche.
(Blackbird fly, blackbird, fly, fly.....
into the light, dark black night...)
Lon-dubh a' seinn ann an dubhar na h-oidhche
tog do sgiathan brist' is èirigh suas
fad do rè, bha thu a' feitheamh airson an tìd' gu togail rithe.
thank you much for the lyrics.

Míle buíochas!
Beyonce has recorded this, and it's absolutely awful

Saw her live just about a month ago. Amazing performance. Like, literally melt-your-face-off good. After, she was just hanging out up front chatting with fans as if it was nothing. People like her inspire me to try harder and accomplish more with my life.
This is the best rendition of Blackbird I have ever heard! Julie has such a beautiful voice! Thank you Julie for singing this wonderful song!
I am from Liverpool and The Beatles are my folk music and this is my favourite rendition too.
This is what an angel's voice sounds like.
So true
Take these broken wings and learn to fly - it's a wonderful message in any language
Proud to be Scottish. What a butiful young lady. X
it is the first song I heard Julie sing several years ago and I have loved her since. We watched the programme on BBC Alba last night, May 14, and it was excellent and such a range of styles from musicians known to us and some I did not know like Rodrigo and Gabriela in Mexico. This is a very talented lady and her Scots Gaelic just reminds me of the strong bonds that link Ireland with Scotland. Maith thú, Julie!
it`s the most beautiful cover of this song i ever heard... pure light, beauty and kindness
dont know a word of Gaelic, but that was a really beautiful rendition.
Absolutely beautiful. This girl's got great tone, delivery, presence - everything||
abbamad ...she has...great to hear someone mention tone...a fairly rare phenomenon these days.
A beautiful voice ,what a gift , There are about a hundred thousand people who speak this language including a few in Cape Breton NS. Julie makes ii magic
John Lennon's original Gaelic surname, Ó 'Leannáin, can be translate as either "lover" or "BLACKBIRD".
Huh.
Learn something new everyday.
Wow. Either way pretty fitting.
O'Lonain is Blackbird
This song is McCartney's

I love hearing this in the beautiful Scot Gaelic. It makes me want to return to my ancestral lands where this Celt woman's heart can soar in the Highland mist.
Island mist, Uibhist a Tuath
Wow! Who could not fall in love with this pure voice?
Saw her today. Absolutely the best. Beautiful voice
she sounds way better in person i saw her tonight oh was her voice beautiful.
Such a beautiful rendition. It brought me to tears when I heard it for the first time today on Thistle and Shamrock.
***** Me too

she makes me proud to be half Scottish😊
This is the best version. Like it was meant to be this way 💗
I'm Australian with the vast majority of my ancestry being Scot, in a way i feel like i'm connecting with ancestor's when i listen to this, i feel like i'm coming home.
One of my favourite Beatles songs - sung beautifully by Julie Fowlis - in Scottish Gaelic! Sounds great!
I'm American but I have a ton of Scots ancestors as well . ^_^
Make makes me so happy and calm to listen to music like this. It's our roots, you know?
I do not speak or understand Scottish Gaelic but the first time I herd Julie sing this it brought tears to my eyes. Her oice Conveyed the feeling beautifully She has a gift and she uses it well
The blackbird was also the name for Druid as well. Blessings to all on here.
Amazing, seen Julie sing this live a couple of times in the last year. Wonderful.
"blackbird fly,....", your voice soared beautifully like a lark at that part of the song Julie! Like the others here I appreciate your commitment to the Gaelic language and music.
dammit Julie, stop making great music!
*I'm just kidding please keep making great music*
Excellent interpretation . Julie is a fine singer
What a beautiful voice and How beautiful, dear princess
Julie Fowlis♫
Very well said!
This is the only recording of a Beatles tune that I like way more than the original.
Of course! Elton John's version of Lucy is a pretty good cover. It's got John on backing vocals, which helps.
This should be on Spotify!
Few covers of this song can approach the near-perfection of Macca's original, but this is right up there. Wonderful reinterpretation, and though the "like" numbers currently suggest that there are 5 sourpusses out there, they are justly and vastly way outnumbered by the approbation.
Beautiful voice and one of my favorite Beatles songs.
I didn't think it possible to find a more perfect version than the original, but this is simply stunningly beautiful. Can you send me the guitar tab?!!
Oh, my. Just when you think things can't get better you come across this. Beautiful.
what a beautiful rendition!!...Julie Fowlis is amazing
Julie is, always, incredible here!
It's a beautiful, lyrical language....even though i can't claim to speak it...i understand it on a much deeper level than mere words.....it hits me in my very soul.... How can that not be good.....
I love this.
I heard of her when I was traveling in Scotland. She is one of my favorites.
we have everything to share in moving to a new future. I have never been more excited
Fellow Monroe here from the Americas. Caisteal Folais 'na Theine.
What a voice!
This is perfection!
We love this song. What a magical combination -- Julie Fowlis, Gaelic and the Beatles.
I keep listening and listening. And its still not enough. God bless you Julie!
Glad that the algorithm recommended this video to me. I can't understand a single word of this song. I don't know what language that was even. But that doesn't matter because her voice is just wonderful.
I am so proud young lady xxx
Astoundingly beautiful!
George would be proud and heartbroken all at the same time. Thank you
George who?
TheOldHacker clooney
George Harrison, the guitarist of The Beatles and one of the writers of the original 'Blackbird'
It's a McCartney song (although credited to Lennon-McCartney on the White Album).

Prabhat, you know very little about the Beatles. George was one of 3 guitarists + EC . Might be an idea to check things before commenting.
Rest in peace little sister. I will always miss your sweet voice.
Amazing and absolutely gorgeous.
That is one of the most Beautiful songs I have ever heard, ever...it made me weep, thank you.
Amazing... I love this song sung by this woman!!!
Paul composed this tune for Julie, I have no other explanations. Thanks for your singing.
This is such a beautiful song. Amazing!!
How I love her Music and Voice Thank you Lassie
Wow I had never heard Gaelic spoken ( or sang for that matter) before its so beautiful and she has a lovely voice. An instant favorite.
Beautiful Voice
I heard this on a compliation free music mag CD, years ago and just loved her voice and interpretation. Never forgot her name after that.
One of my favorite songs in any language.
Beautiful voice and a beautiful.
So lovely.
Beautiful
Beautiful
I love this! The language and her voice are both beautiful.:D
One of the largest Gaelic speaking communities on the planet is in Nova Scotia, Cape Breton Island and the language is Scots Gaelic. It isn't always the availability of others who speak the language for those who want to learn it, the key to culture is always language.
Excellent !
Beautiful, what's left to say ,thank you, cheers Kerry
Top vocals please keep them coming!!
This is so beautiful
Wow. This is beautiful.
Hello Julie Fowlis

I love her for promoting Scots Gaelic with her beautiful singing. Roddy McLeod.
Sublime !
'Love it!
this songs awesome, Julie, people love you!! no dis-likes, that's better reviews than the beatles get on this song. keep making this beautiful music; it obviously touches everyone who hears it, even if they can't understand it!!
Wow. Julie is truly incredible. I learned the song as a guitar solo a few years back, and have always thought it was one of the most touching songs I'd heard. Hearing it in Gaelic takes it a hundred times further into my weeping heart. @pduffy 1943, thank you for putting up a version of Gaelic. I am going to try to learn it. I don't know Gaelic, shame on me, but I can copy it if I can hear and see the phrases at the same time. Terrible accent, but Utahms wont know! wow.
💙💙💙💙💙 Es tan hermoso 😚
This video has no dislikes! I've never seen that on youtube before, but I can't really say I'm surprised because the song is so great.
Exactly my thoughts, dude. I sometimes picture Julie Fowlis as an elf and how perfect that would be.
Luv you xx
Just, Wow
The hills and far away xx
Great!
a good portion of my ancestry is scotts-gaelic, i only wish i knew more about this beautiful culture and language i came from
Kristin Smith Plenty of places on RUclips and Google to start.
that would be Scots (with one T).
I too would love to learn Gaelic. The conundrum, however, is which form of Gaelic to learn?
Gaidhlig (Scots Gaelic), or Gaelige (Irish Gaelic)? I'm torn because a good bit of my ancestry comes from the Highlands of Scotland and Ireland. While they are related languages, they are not the same and not necessarily mutually intelligible.
And then there is the problem of not having a practical use for either language, as I don't live in the Highlands or in Ireland or Nova Scotia, for that matter.
In any case, I never get tired of listening to this version of Blackbird. It's truly beautiful and even outdoes the original.
@Geoffrey Harris Tentative links. You didn't comment on the music - only about yourself - try again.
Btw, My daughters were Bay City Rollers fans so they are Scottish now- right?
beautiful n.n
I want to learn Gaelic. It's an amazing idiom, so sweet and aaaaaaaahhhh I just love it.....
I'll learn it, I promise...
-I speak italian, russian and english... Gaelic is one of my favourite, but here, in Argentina, is very strange find someone who speak this awesome language.
No idea what they are saying, but it doesn't even matter. It's just so dang beautiful!
Wow, what a beautiful voice she has (and a beautiful woman too I might add).
