They say a mystical energy lies within Gaelic/Celtic languages... and when you listen to languages such as Irish Gaelic, Scottish Gaelic, Manx, Welsh and Cornish, it's no wonder why that's said. The people who speak them, the places their breath haunts... any human on Earth would feel grounded there, even if they have no ties whatsoever. Of course it was these people who bore druids, Wicca, Christian Mysticism and many other mystical ways and practices. Might they all be blest.

So we now know 47 people on this earth have literally no ears. I've grown up with Gaelic music as a huge influence and support mechanism. When I was just tiny my family lived in a tiny village (Roskill) on the Isle of Skye. They ran the guest house until they moved down to the north east. Many times I've visited Scotland but when I'm not there there is a hole in my soul that was left knowing I cannot be in Scotland. I began learning Gaelic and one day I plan to live back on the Hebrides. I hate the north east, I am an outcast, and no one believes in Scottish because I've lived with my mum my whole life and she has a very British accent I seem to have inherited. This beautiful song always brings a tear to my eye as faint memories of Skye flash through my mind, and the haunting fiddle in this is just a beautiful touch... edit: if you are listening to this on a phone, plug you're headphones into a computer instead and put the volume up. Trust me the sound is far more pure!

Thanks for your note. I will look for this book. Weaving and fabric were important aspects of Gaelic life. My grandparents also spoke Gaelic and some family were involved in weaving on the Hebrides.

There is a peculiar emotive perfection to some Gaelic airs etc. that you can't help to make you think they are truly heavenly the work of angels.
Celtic Park
Ily23 Iken is English.
I don't speak the Gaelic language but I have never heard such a beautiful language anywhere, In the world!
it is unbelievably hard for english speaking scots to find a gaelic class, i am just one sassenach tongue. wondering why i cant sing properly the gaelic songs. foreigners or other sassenachs seem to do better than english speakers born on scottish soil. ex pats have to teach us sometimes or scandinavians. very strange but very real. i was born in glasgow. no town i moved to after has helped with gaelic, my ancestors spoke it before moving to glasgow a hundred or more years ago. it only takes two or three generations to lose it all.
The Witcher 3 - Fields of Ard Skellig
Ennui Escape Yes, a nice coincidence. If I remember correctly it was on "Monster (Anime) - The Full OST" (btw thanks for uploading that soundtrack). I enjoy listening to great music.
JMSLionheart I wonder where they find about such obscure songs like this and bonny at morn.
Ennui Escape it's pretty rare to bump up to previously met people because youtube is so fast. lol
+celroid532 I think they do research into to the cultures of the real world areas that they locations draw inspiration from.
+celroid532 This isn't really that obscure of a song. It's one of the best known gaelic songs and since they based a significant portion of the game on that culture its not surprising they discovered this.
I have zero idea what this song is about. But the sound and melody makes me fall in love with it.
Drake Charles this is a very traditional Gaelic song by Sìne NicFhionnlaigh about an unrequited love for a young fisherman.
so do I. More than ...beautiful...
This is my first experience to listen to a Gaelic song, and I feel this singing is simple and very beautiful without any exaggeration!Gealic language itself is also beautiful one.ーfrom Tokyo in Japan.

Can we talk about how this lady is from Oregon, singing this song totally authentically? Just wow.

May your soul be touched by a beautiful song like this each day
The song was made by a girl from Tong on the island of Lewis who looks for her fisherman boyfriend who came from Uig on the Isle of Lewis. They subsequently married.
It almost certainly wasn't. You mustn't believe everything you read on Wikipedia.
@@n1ckskelton I say it was you say it wasn't The author is lost in antiquity but is renowned in the village I know well.Good enough for me
@@n1ckskelton it most certainly is. the scots have written many many wonderful songs over the centuries. hundreds upon hundreds f fiddle reel tunes too( fiddle reels being indigenous to scotland, not ireland).

No that's the illusion, in reality they are eating you.
+Anaru LST Sirens don't deal in such complex illusions, they just enchant.
+EbonyManta he means The witcher 3, this song's in it
Kevin Castro Casanova
Really? Wow, that's awesome that this song's in it. Don't think I've gotten that far, sadly.
+EbonyManta its not an exact replica, it takes a few verses, you can look it up "Fields of ard skellig"
Very beautiful Scottish gaelic music
If you see this song written English, you will see that it was written by a young woman, watching for her lover's boat to return to her island in the Hebrides, and wondering if ever they would get married. In fact they did eventually marry, so she needn't have worried. However, she wrote us a beautiful song that has enthralled millions of people over the years, and will continue to do so.
So pretty, i wish I could speak Gaelic, it's such a beautiful language.
Never too late to start ;)
petit0renard is it difficult to learn?
Scottish Gaelic is easier than it's Irish variant. There is also Manx Gaelic from the Isle of Man, but that is quite obscure
manx and scottish came from irish
I speak irish /Gaelic in school and it truly is a beautiful language and quite easy to learn
I am really in love with the Gaelic Music, though I am a Filipino, Asian, i found their music mystical and one of a kind. I want to learn their language and their music.
The Philippine folks are known for their love of melodic music. Regards
Well Jeremy, did you make a start? Gàildhlig with Jason
this is so beautiful and deeply touching
I first heard it in witcher 3, both versions are wonderful
The witcher bring me here.
Wicca is New Age garbage.
this song makes me want to go to the mountains forever, and to find in these mountains the love of my life that appears out of nowhere like a ghost and spend the rest of my life with her there
Medieval Total War, Witcher 3, Fairy Tail... probably Lineage too. Seems like it's very popular song for game OSTs.
Don't forget Heroes of Might and Magic IV!
And a little less-known game; Disciples 3 also uses this

I found this sing freshman year of high school after reading the book the shack. I love this song. It will forever be the backdrop to my happiness
This is pure magic. It comes from another universe and there are no words to describe it.
It comes from my country. It isn't magic, it is a distant echo of a culture destroyed by the British.
Saying it isn't magic and then citing -another- matter of opinion to support the statement doesn't a very solid statement make. If our culture were destroyed by the British, it wouldn't be here. Putting out a candle is meaningless if you take a flame to the wick again after.
If I had to choose between the response of "This is completely normal" and "This is magic", with no middle grounds to be had, then, quite. This would be magic. o~o
Bíodh lá maith agat.

@Lily Wood I’m well aware of my own peoples history, there’s no evidence of the Celts committing Ethnic Cleansing against the Picts, or the Vikings that settled in our North and West either. If you’re happy that justifies the Highland Clearances (or any of the other sins of the British Empire, such as the Opium Wars) I beg to differ.
It's a shame our society in this time of age is plagued by supposed artists such as Justin bieber, lil Wayne, drake etc who poison the young generation with inappropriate and explicit material. It puzzles me why society is so naive when to comes to such beautiful music such as this, songs like this need to flourish and receive more views. This is a beautiful language which left me in awe. Greetings from Lithuania my European brothers.
Thomas Gauk I am bearing in mind this is a rather old comment, but I completely agree with you. The people who listen to that stuff who are in my class are out doing drugs, smoking, drinking and "other stuff" however I hate that music and instead of doing that, I took up art, guitar, singing and I am learning Gaelic. We are a brainwashed society of aimless zombies who can no longer enjoy the beauty of this music. One day I plan to leave England for my home isle, Skye. Thank you for being another deep spirit who appreciates my roots!
I am ashamed that I never had nor took the opportunity to learn Scottish Gaelic. Given that I have a lot of Scottish relatives, my late dad included, I feel robbed. Beautiful country, beautiful people, beautiful song. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Tardis… visit Duolingo if you haven’t already!!! You can easily learn it there!!! I’m learning Irish Gaelic in honor and love of my heritage!!!

@@Skyebright1 True. I heard recently that the primary school my dad went to is now teaching their students Gaelic alongside English. About time. I hope the trend continues.
I searched up this song because I sang it to my 14 and 7yr old children as a lullaby and I wanted to hear it again. I learned it from a CD I had and fell in love with it!!!
In very few songs do I get goosebumps and shivers, and only this one gives me them all over every time. Wow
Far more to an identity than an accent.
I hope you got along well with the language. Best of luck to you. Slàinte.
Maybe it's the 47 Ronins - since they all were sad with the ending
Absolutely beautiful, amazing Song! Gaelic in my opinion is the most beautiful language in the world.

When shall I see thee? today? tomorrow?

How beautiful are those landscapes! To say nothing about the music… Thank you for sharing this video, keep up the good work, and warm greetings from Spain.
My grandfather's favorite song but he sang it in Scots Gaelic and faster, probably to keep the pace milling (working woolen fabric). He died back in the 70s when I was 8, of a generation who spoke Gaelic as their first language. Their story is told in The Last stronghold by Margret Bennet.
Thanks for your note. I will look for this book. Weaving and fabric were important aspects of Gaelic life. My grandparents also spoke Gaelic and some family were involved in weaving on the Hebrides.
What the heck, I just randomly search for gaelic songs, I find this, and I bawl my eyes out. This is the most beautiful thing I heard in longer than I can remember.

Tha mo chridhe-sa briste, brùite

An tig thu a-nochd, no am bi mo dhùil riut,

'S tric mi foighneachd de luchd nam bàta
Am faic iad thu, no am bheil thu sàbhailt'?
Ach 's ann a tha gach aon dhiubh 'g ràitinn
Gur gòrach mise, ma thug mi gràdh dhuit.

Anybody know where one can find more legit traditional music like this? Doesn't have to be Scottish or Irish alone, I just want to really get to know genuine tunes that weren't made for the specific goal of fame or world fashion.
