i struggled with the destroy-flying-things-or-get-one-shot-by-ball attack and instead of learning how to do it i embraced the technique of sacrificing a character and then going back to dodging his regular attacks and shooting him with the droid until he dies It wasnt a good strat but it worked... just took a lot longer..
Any fellow Zhongli users who didn't know phase one has the mechanic to stop him so you just tank all and are now really surprised how much DMG it does?
You dont even need shield to be honest . A strong team (as example, Nahida,Yelan,Xinqiu and Kuki) kills him so fast he barely manages to do anything (at phase 1 ofc)
I remember the first time I came across a showcase with this boss and I had no idea who he was, and I thought there was no way I'd ever be able to win 😁😁
I'm pretty sure you can lose the shot, but I also know there are times it gives it back to you. I think it depends on how you do it. Or maybe I'm wrong and just thought it was lost.

OH MY GOD THANK YOU!! I had no idea how to interact with the platforms in phase 1, so I was literally just using my Zhongli to shield me and I kept attacking until phase 2 started 😭💀💀
I was doing fun coop random character with my friends (we never enter this boss fight for extra excitement) and we got razor, fischl, beidou and kaeya. At first phase we got no problem but the second phase we got panic since we don't know how to destroy the devices and we hugged together waiting for scara to blow all of us up. But afterwards, all members was killed instantly except beidou. Thats how strong beidou main are
Every now and then I still fail this boss. 1. Can't kill him in first shut down, immediate death 2. Can't reach the freaking drones Amber is the real MVP

Thanks for the explanation. I went in blind and only barely managed to clear in my first attempt with my mono cryo team. I brute forced both the first phase and second phase (got the achievement for dying to the Frieza Death Ball), and I didn't even know about the platforms.
I am currently doing this archon quest right now and I swear, I tried so hard not to lose my patience until I gave up in the end. I'm stuck at phase 1 because he keeps on regenerating everytime I missed the chance to hit him with that thunder strike or something. Mobile users like me is having a hard time on this.
Is there any other element that can break the shields at 3:30? my Amber is only level 20 and the only other pyro character I have is xiangling😅 someone said Kazuha can break them?? but idk how true that is lmao Edit: anemo apparently does work because I used wanderer and they broke easily lol this boss is actually quite easy it’s just time consuming with all the running around and collecting crystals you have to do.
i really hate that some enemies aren't accessible to beat without a bow user like in the second phase i just had to sit there and let him nuke my zhongli as there was no way for me to reach the flying drones

Sure, nothing here is mandatory. Use who you want. I only recommend Amber because her charged shots have a higher elemental value which is good for the drone/nuke phase
Thank you for this guide! I was slow in completing the story quest and when this boss was done in that quest I genuinely was so lost and was flailing but somehow defeated it with a lot of pain. Just followed this for the weekly version and it was a breeze!
i did the lvl 90 fight and i never seen this attack i also had no idea how to active those elemental platforms so i just walked on those ice and fire floors

The tutorial told me to hold an shoot something but I'm like wtf is it talking about because I don't see anything to hold and shoot, and there was no extra buttons to press. I was so angry. Little did I know that I must be picking up crystals off the floor to power the akasha terminal thing, then at max power it would give me a button to hold and shoot. Bruh, why it has to be so confusing. I didnt even realize there were buttons on the floor to press in the first phase, like wtf.
Yes, but Amber is particularly effective because she does a decently large amount of shield damage in a short amount of time. (Her charge time to shield damage ratio is among the best in the game) You are welcome to use whoever you have built
can someone tell me how do you activate the electro circles in the first phase? I am just gathering cristals, nothing happens and I get killed. The guy on the video just walks over it and somehow it works.
I swapped Xiangling with Noelle because Noelle is basically what Zhongli players use him for, a shield in case I end up in the wrong position during one of his attacks A well built Noelle with her elemental skill is actually capable of tanking through the wide AOE attack in the last video I also managed to have Barbara tank through the same attack with her skill combined with attacks, she has 4-pc Ocean Hued Clam which helps a little with healing alongside the dmg from the pearl I actually took at least 3 knockdowns to beat his first phase, but then again I'm the kind of person who would use level 90 rank 5 3 star weapons on my characters
i didnt knew he has a mechanic for 1st phase i just spammed zhongli shield and brute force it and kept dying to the meteror in phase two because I destroyed the drones but didnt shoot the little flying thing to him lmao thank you will try it now
About the glide thing. If you have Venti then 1. You can attack out of turn and 2. You can use his ult to glide up and avoid basically everything. It was hilarious when I found that trick, managed to beat him on my first try in story.
1:55 “and then switch to your giant bog ball shoot mode” am I the only one who has no clue what this means??? I’m currently in the fight and the pet isnt shooting, and I don’t know how to shoot balls at him, what am I missing??
@@SunWeiC I panicked when I didn't know what to do and quickly looked up what I'm supposed to do because after he got his legs I was able to move around for like 30 seconds before the cutscene finally happened, so I thought I was supposed to know what to do lmaooo

First time i fought him in the story I was running around with Yanfei as main DPS ( no other Pyro) because just before that I killed the Dendro hypostasis. The boss was pretty easy in the story. So I tought the real weekly fight would be much harder, so I brought my main team (Cyno, Nahida, Raiden, Zhongli) But oh boy, because I couldn´t destroy the turrets it was basically just a running around, dodging game and reviving my characters because the comets one shots.

No seriously, how to fire the fully charged Dendro pet thingy? I always let me teammates to shoot the boss cause I cannot figure the button to aim and shoot it. PS4 controller btw. Help? The most important thing, what buttons to press to fire it. That's not explained. I was screaming HOW when the boss first came, how the hell am I supposed to fire it.
There should be an indicator on your screen telling you that it's ready on the bottom right. Whatever button you use to enter aiming mode or to use the grapple mechanic should be the same button you use to enter the fully charged shot.
I had the same problem! Would get it filledup but no idea how to shoot or even importantly, aim it. The only indicators on my screen would be to teleport to the sigils to get the crystals. In the end, I only got ONE drop from this fight - is this normal? I need to level Dehya and need probably 6-8 puppet strings and doing it only every 4 days with one drop is going to take me a month. I wanted to ascend but now I’m afraid to.
Will yelan work when i use her for the pre damage phase in this boss fight?? my amber is level 50 and yelan is only built archer character apart from fischl for obvious reasons 😅
This boss fight is garbage on console. You aren't only fighting this boss. You are also fighting the terrible button combinations that don't work half the time.
You have no choice but to stall and make sure you have energy to create a wind gust using the anemo sigil to avoid the beam. The shutdowns will become available again eventually but it is a decently long cooldown, and the arena becomes pretty annoying to deal with in terms of floor DoT. This boss isn't very well designed.
Tbh I‘m just scared of this fight since all my charakters are still lvl. 60. I do have a friend helping me with my artifacts but I‘ll level up amber now if i really need her for that

That means you're fighting the story version of this fight, which is heavily scripted. This guide is for the weekly version of the fight.

This is actually the most straight up guide you can find regarding this boss. No chattering around just straight up business.
In phase 2, if you miss, you can shot it again, until you actually hit it, you don't need to recharge the ball

@@SunWeiC I've missed a lot when he suddenly teleports, so I know that I can shoot again, but it has a short cooldown after the miss shot

With the drones, if you hold Nahida’s normal attack it will kill them each in one go. Ofc this involves having her in the first place so

best i can do is like 20% after I stun him, the guy takes basically no damage whatsoever, and then I get nuked by his kamehameha - cant get to phase 2
20% meaning getting him down from 95 to 75% health
so throwing in every food and buff possible plus healing thrice did it, but some range fire is def. recommended... next try tomorrow haha
phase 2 is much easier than phase 1, you need TONS OF DAMAGE

u can also use nahihi's charged atk to get rid of the drone's shield if u don't have kzh or any bow chara lvled
