I really love the way this neck plays and sounds for leads,I just wish it had more of a full sound when strumming…I’m wondering if there are any higher end guitars that have a better combination of the two

      Paultheguitarist
What you are looking for is a vintage Ibanez Lonestar (they were only released during the eighties )
I have 2 of them personally; the higher end one is LITERALLY my favorite guitar of my collection!
Get a higher end one; the higher end ones have the same sharkfin fretboard inlay as the "altstar" that is demonstrated in this video.
(There is a lineup; The Lone star LS300, Lonestar LS 335, the Lonestar LS 510 BK, the Lonestar LS 550, and the Lonestar LS 550OWN.
What you want are any one of the last 3; from Lonestar LS510 BK (which is the gem I own), or either of the last 2.
If it has the sharkfin inlay and is an Ibanez Lonestar; without damage; BUY THE GUITAR!

      @@Paultheguitarist Nice!
I would describe the sound of the LS510 BK Lonestar (when strumming full chords) as being lush and bright; with a naturally shimmering tone that is almost "glossy", and even has some natural reverb or "echo".
Imagine a beautiful priceless harp being played in a massive classical music concert hall that is totally empty... That's the closest I can describe the sound...
Truly; it's nothing short of heavenly; both in feel and in sound.

SO, you base your purchases upon what people you don't even know say or think? Wow! Do you only wear, eat and do things the TV set tells you to as well? You SHOULD base purchases upon YOUR OWN trial of products! GO into a REAL guitar shop, don't be afraid of the outside real world, and ask to a few of them out and see which one is really for you, BEFORE you plunk down a wad of dough based upon someone who is PAID to "brag" about it's "suggestion"! Genius!

    • @user-nl9ne5gk6k
      @user-nl9ne5gk6k 2 года назад +1

Do what I do whenever I'm in the mood to go buy another new (or even used) guitar, ride around on a day off and go into a LOT of different guitar shops and actually play on a bunch of different ones, in this case acoustic/electric guitars and also look at the MSRP on them, than you would really know which one you want and can afford and lots of shops tend to also sell used gear, sometimes you might find something used that fits your needs more than something new and it's probably going to be much cheaper.
I've gotten quite a few vintage Ibanez models for nearly low as dirt prices that way.
I've played and heard MANY good and bad Ibanez, Takamine, Fender and Dean A/E guitars and bought only the ones that I thought sounded the best to MY ears and felt great in MY hands and looked good to MY eyes, because that IS all that really matters.
I have a 1972 strat that I got as a "gift" about 30 years ago and love it, I will never part with it and plan to be buried with either that one or my '84 Ibanez DT350 AKA my #1.
With that said; IMHO Fenders really are so ridiculously overpriced that it makes me physically sick to look at them or even attempt to play on their new models (same with Gibson for me!), Fender IS nothing but mass produced, made in Asia junk that they SHOULD be ashamed of themselves for robbing guitarists with their prices!
You ARE just paying for a chunk of wood and a name that no longer means anything, since "Fender" has been bought out and sold off a few times over their history, leaving NOBODY whom ever "invented" or designed anything good for them in their HQ anymore.
And they also no longer make their parts or guitars in the USA, regardless of their "Made in the USA" marketing lies!
Their "custom" shop only ASSEMBLES foreign made parts and really does NOTHING "custom" at all!
      That IS a FACT!
Well, can you easily call them up on a phone and order a "custom" strat the way you want it in a color YOU want it in with, say, block inlays? NO!
can you get one with gold hardware? NO!
Can you get one with a Floyd Rose and lock nut?, instead of their crappy unlocking tremolo? OF COURSE YOU CANT!
And why? Because you only get the junk they make with their meat and potatoes mass produced GARBAGE parts that they throw on EVERYTHING they make!
There is nothing customizable with Fender!
And for one third or even one quarter of the cheapest Fender A/E MSRP you CAN probably get a much better sound and feel from many Dean, Takamine or Ibanez models that are priced well under $1k.
(Fenders lowest priced A/E is currently $999usd! A thousand dollars is NOT cheap in MY book and you CAN get more than just ONE guitar for $1k!)
For around $1000, I got a Dean Tribal Performer-E with hardshell case ($389 NEW back in 2010), an Ibanez AEW20 with hardshell case ($225 NEW back in 2008) and a sweet ultra slim Takamine EG568 with Hardshell case ($400 NEW in 2012 and their prices aren't much different nowadays. And with having 3 guitars, instead of just 1 lousy Fender, I have a way more variable sound arsenal to pick and choose from for each song.
As they say, "Variety IS the spice of life"! lol

This looks very interesting. When you say it plays like an electric guitar, does it have a very light touch like an electric where you don't have to push down or pick the strings as hard as an acoustic? But does that also mean that if you press down harder on it like you would with an acoustic, the strings would sound out of tune?

    • @user-nl9ne5gk6k
      @user-nl9ne5gk6k 2 года назад

You cant really tell how good or bad it sounds over the internet. GO into an actual store and try one!
Sad that Ibanez discontinued the original color choices and now only have an ugly trans black, blue and red.
I have a few acoustic/electric models, every one has a totally different feel and sound.
I own a 2010 Dean "Tribal Performer-E", it's sound is very warm and big with a very nice acoustic sound and also sounds amazing plugged in, but that is a thick body where there is room for the sound to resonate, similar to a big giant dreadnought and it looks very cool. I use D'Addario's Bronze Phosphorus strings on this one, since they sounded better on it than others I've tried.
I also own a 2008 Takamine EG series ultra slim body A/E, it sounds great plugged in and while it IS loud acoustically, mostly due to the strings I use on this one, it does not have as big or warm a sound as the Dean, probably because it's only about 1-7/8 inches thick and has much less volume of internal space for the sound to build and resonate.
Some claim the ultra slim EG series sounds "too thin and weak", but I don't find that to be true at all.
The D'Addario's made it loud, but sounded weird, so I use Ernie Ball's Earthwound for A/E guitars and it sounds great.
Which strings you use on an A/E guitar does matter.
If you use strings that are strictly for acoustic guitars, it might sound loud(er), but could also sound a but muffled, or "muddy", while electric guitar strings might sound thinner and "tin-ney".
Different brands and varieties of strings all differ in sound, even on the same guitar!
I have a 2012 Ibanez AEW20, it sounds really good both plugged in and unplugged. I usually use the D'Addario's on it, but recently threw a set of Ernie Ball's Earthwounds on it and the sound was VERY different and I liked it.
When I used the Diaddario's in it, while it was louder, it had a very weird tone with some notes and chords, the Earthwounds sound more even and balanced in tone and volume on it.
They might be a couple dollars more per set, but to ME they are worth it.
I won't tell you what to use, but much like the bloke in the video above, I can only suggest whats good, or tell you what good based off of MY personal experience.
