    Thanks again for the video.....I just purchased these and am going to use your video to help me (a non-mechanical individual) throw these on...I noticed that they sell two kinds, one that slips in the door like yours (waaaay better) and the ones that appear to stick on the actual outside of the door.

    Thanks! This was helpful. For anyone doing the clips, they go in very easy if you push the clip up to the visor, line up the pin and smooth gentle/firm press. Pops right in. Also, if you mess it up, you can back the pins out.

    You hit exactly the problem I had with my weathertechs. To allieviate the problem, you have to pull the window seals out and cut the pinch seal at the tops of each window to allow the extra room so the window safety doesn't engage (this is on the weathertech vid channel telling you to do this). The downside of that, is now you MUST keep an in-channel visor in the windows or have a wind-whistle because the extra room made from the visor install.

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy
      @TonyTheTruckGuy  2 года назад +1

      Yeah, I noticed even without cutting anything, just having the in-channel vents added a fair amount of wind noise. Usually I have the radio going anyways though so it never bothered me.

    Tony.... just wanted to swing y and say great job. I'm one of the engineers for the company that supplies these parts to FCA... I'm glad to know that people are able to figure these out... and all of your little hiccups that you had, we had with explaining and directing FCA on how to do it all. Either way... great job all around... I probably would have been a little weary regarding installing them outside with it being as chilly as it was... with the in-channels, they do have the possibility of snapping in colder temps.
    Other than that? Rock on!

      Haha yes, it’s always a little scary doing this in the cold, but didn’t have much choice since I had no access to a heated garage. I believe I installed the rear visor clips a bit different than the directions state, but that made it easier and I haven’t had any issues. Thanks!

    I just got these too but I did it like you and like the instructions but it seems that the seal that runs down to the door handle sticks out a bit under the deflector so what keeps water from going into that seal since it don't set on the window a inch under the deflector. It almost looks like it should stick behind the b piller so the seal doesn't bow out for water entry. Just my thought.

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy
      @TonyTheTruckGuy  4 года назад

      Yes the clips I installed are technically supposed to get into the higher groove of the seal, but I've had other people tell me that you basically have to remove the door seal for that which was a total pain for them. I haven't had any issues so far this way and nothing is loose.

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy
      @TonyTheTruckGuy  5 лет назад

      I just checked mine and confirmed that the up/down on the round button raises and lowers the lumbar lump. It’s a little hard to tell, but if you adjust the lumbar all the way out and all the way down, then push up, you can feel it working towards the middle of your back.

      No tint yet. I had weather tech in-channel guards on my ‘12 ram with tint and it maybe sort of scuffed the tint just on the last maybe 1/2” of the window edge but if the window was all the way up or down you couldn’t see it and it wasn’t ripped or anything. Auto up still works fine as long as you haven’t had windows down for like 8+ hours. I did somehow get a hairline crack on the corner of my drivers window one, but it hasn’t gotten any bigger and still holds solid.

    Hi guys I have these on my 2019 ram came when I bought the truck 2 years ago after Christmas last year my window was smashed when I woke up for work one morning. Got it replaced and just a few days ago we were at the Memorial Day parade and the window was down and it shattered again. Sounded like a gun shot. The window installer is saying it is from these in channel ram visors say it’s hitting the metal clip. Anyone else having this issue?

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy
      @TonyTheTruckGuy  2 года назад

      I’ll have to let others chime in, but I personally never had any issues with the window breaking the visor. I would recommend though that if you leave the windows down for a few hours, I’d roll the window back up slower because the in channel style can come slightly unseated. Of that happens and the window is coming up full force, I could see that being an issue, but I wonder if they were installed correctly.

    I installed the WeatherTech on my 2014 f150 but had to remove them because the auto up feature would not work when they were installed. The window would go up and make contact with the visor and automatically roll down. I tried working them in and other things they suggest but they just don’t work. The other issue is that they increase the wind noise in your cab because they’re stuck in that channel and it can’t seal as well. You will also scratch your glass because dust and dirt get caught in that channel and when you role up the window, the dirt particles scratch the glass because the glass is laminated tempered glass. This type of glass scratches easy when debris is dragged across the surface. I love the look of them compared to the adhesive ones but unfortunately, they will scratch your glass and add wind noise to the cab.

    • @TonyTheTruckGuy
      @TonyTheTruckGuy  4 года назад

      That’s kinda odd, my buddy had the WeatherTechs on his 2011 and didn’t have any problems after the “work in period” like you were explaining. They do create more wind noise like you said and may scratch along the edges but it is what it is at this point for me. I regularly wipe the door seals to help reduce the scratches and still prefer them over the stick-on style.

    • @syscam1
      @syscam1 4 года назад

      If memory serves me correctly not all model years had the auto up and down feature. Some just had the auto down feature which didn’t effect things when rolled up because you had to manually do this. The Platinum I had had the auto up and down feature. Yeah I was going to make a note that you're technically supposed to get the clips into the higher grove, but I've had other people tell me that you basically have to remove the door seal for that which was a total pain for them. I haven't had any issues so far this way and nothing is loose.
