      lol, well I have a big group of "shut up and mow" viewers in my subscriber base. I've been doing a bit of a compromise lately by only talking a little. Just trying to get some questions answered before they're asked. Thanks for your comment. I agree, with my 30 years in the business I do know a few things about what would be good or bad on a mower. :)

    I am one who likes your feedback. I have learned a lot by your explaining the reasons you do things over the years. Especially on something like this machine (brand new product, new technology, new everything), your talking and explaining is very helpful and I think the video would suffer without it. If you include chapters (even as simple as intro, work, conclusion), then people who REALLY get bothered by the talking can just skip to the work and everyone is happy. That is my unsolicited two cents! :D

You know, when I put the time mark on the screen when the mowing begins, people think that's the time of day when I started mowing while filming the video. I don't know what to do. I've been compromising by only talking a little. Only the most important things that people will be asking me over and over in the comments. And oh yea, I remember your 2 cents. :)

    I got this mower specifically to be able to drive it through a 36 inch door ruclips.net/user/postUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend or gate It is a little tight with the grass deflector installed but has more clearance with the deflector replaced by the recycler/mulcher. This model appears to be popular and a little harder to find for that reason. I can't judge the dependability as I have only mowed the yard twice but everything else on the mower is very nice and working fine so far. I added options for the run hour timer, arm backrests, recycler/mulcher, towing bracket, deck lift assist and cover.

Lower maintenance cost. Stops on a dime. Got to see if they have here in Shreveport. Been raining more than dry days here. So once ground is hard enough to drive on the mowers come out. I really wish our old gas mower would've held out long enough for this machine to come out. We ended up with the last generation 42" zero turn not long after it came out. No regrets, its cut down our mowing time quite a lot despite having a 10" smaller deck than the machine it replaced. Incredibly nice to only have to change blades and plug it in with no other maintenance necessary. Also is amazingly easy to remove the entire deck to swap blades and clean it out.

    Also, can't help wondering what this machine will look like and how it'll run in 5 years, or 10 years. I tend to drive my mowers (and cars) till they can't get out of their own way. My 2002 Dixie Chopper just broke something internally and I put it out to pasture, for an Exmark Radius S which I also expect to run into the ground...unless one of these convinces me otherwise.

      Well it's one of those things. Nobody knows how long these will last yet. I went with this one because it had the best reviews and because of the lead acid battery technology. That technology has been around for a long time and the industry should have a good idea on how to work with it. The batteries really should last 4-5 years like the one in your car. I agree with you, still too early in the big electric rider market to buy one. This is a big experiment and I am hopeful. I'll posting updates.

    Big question, given its battery and it has to be charged, what is the re-charge time?? Would def have to have 2 or a gas back up I think. Probably a few years away from the battery life being where it needs to be for commercial use, just my opinion. Maybe they just want to focus on homeowners🤷‍♂️. It looks to do a nice job though. But def want to see it in some thicker grass where it is under a little more stress when cutting👍. Keep up the good work!👊

    • @Something2LookAt
      @Something2LookAt  3 года назад +2

      The thick grass videos will come with the rain. Major drought right now. And I think it could do a full day of mowing actually. Mow time for a yard is not that long. If one yard takes 5-10% battery, the the whole battery should be able to mow 10-20 yards of regular size really. And it's pretty ruggedly built. 800 lbs! I don't know the charge time yet. It came with a huge charger like the type that a golf cart uses. Considering that I mowed on the low blade speed setting here, I'm sure that the high speed setting will be able to mow the thick stuff. Hang tight, I'll get that filmed...

    Just read the manual at Ryobi's website: It clearly states...'Risk of fire and burns. Do not expose battery, battery compartment, or electronic components to rain, water, or liquids. Do not charge battery or expose mower to rain or damp locations. Do not operate on wet ground. Failure to use in dry conditions and to observe safe practices can result in electric shock.'
    And this one's for you, Brad! "Never carry children, even with the blades shut off. They may fall off and be seriously injured or interfere with safe machine operation. Children who have been given rides in the past may suddenly appear in the mowing area for another ride and be run over or backed over by the machine. Never allow children to operate the machine."

It just makes me wonder how a higher lift blade will do as far as power drain.

      Oh, do they over-inflate tires for shipping? Ooops. Here I'm so proud of myself that I never once looked at the directions. Seems as though there is valuable information in there. Something I did notice today is that the 3.5 inch height of cut position is matching up to the grass I cut with the Cheetah at the 4.25 height of cut position. Too much air in the tires could be the problem there. Oh, and John Kavli is already making a set of blades for this.

      Hi Wil from KC
      I’m Bofkaycee
      I have to agree with you. It will be a very long time before we get a 12 hour day out of any battery operated ANYTHING! The battery tools I have experienced are pretty much a joke. And a huge waste of money... except my little hand shear. It’s small enough that the battery is actually a good power source. All the trimmers I have last 40-60 minutes and take longer to charge. I’d rather burn gasoline than switch to battery powered tools. They have definitely proven themselves and in my opinion, battery stuff will not prove worth the investment.

      @@Something2LookAt can you start logging your electricity consumption and what your cost per kilowatt of power is? It would be really cool to see hard numbers for the cost of operating a electric mower. Especially with how fuel prices are going. Even if the battery's don't last that long the savings on fuel could offset that cost and still give a break even. What would be cool is if you can install a dc to ac converter on the trailer to charge the mower from yard to yard when transporting or even using the built in 110v plug on some trucks to charge it. I know that for my f150 you can add a fuse to enable a battery charging circuit for a trailer with battery for a dump trailer and it comes from the 7 pin trailer connector. If the mower battery's are normal car battery's you could even use that feature and not have to do a dc to ac converter to use the plug in charger. I use this same mower to cut a 6.9 acre pasture. A full overnight battery charge lasts me very close to 2 hours (+/- 5 minutes). In two hours, I cut 2.33 acres. So it takes 3 overnight charges to cut the 6.9 acres with 6 hours of mowing time. If I operated the mower at full speed then I would get more acreage per charge cycle.. But the pasture is not smooth enough for me to comfortably zip along at the max speed (which is 7 mph). I mow at about a 4 mph speed. This mower is great on overgrown lawns! My first cutting with this mower took 12 hours because the pasture was overgrown grass more than 6 inches!
