My a**. Nothing to criticize on what actually the team is planning, but to the fact that how much hyped it is. As if this is the "modern" way of playing and the old way doesn't work. Doesn't matter the era, test cricket always tests you, there's no shortcut method. It's always about the basics of the sport which you can't change and it's beautiful...
I beg to differ. It is because the wickets in England have been changed to be more flat since the The Hundred. In 2019-20 there was a lot of talk of frustration in England's county scene where wickets were hard and a dibbly dobbly medium pacer who moved the ball around could get even good batsmen out. So they decided to change, they changed the wickets and that made Bazball possible. This is what we call "better" cricket. More engaging for the fans.
Indeed, Bazza as Test head coach, Mott as white ball coach, Hussey and Saker as recent England coaches, former Aussie baseball coach in the ranks.....not hard to see where this agression is coming from. Next thing they will have a kangaroo and emu and kiwi on their caps.
There will be far bigger challanges for this bazball team, specially this ashes and if england fail again in this ashes which I think will be 3rd in a row then all the talks of bazball should reduce
For one's thinking it won't work on seaming and spinning pitches. The mentality and fortitude to wack the ball in tests is about positivity, yes it will definitely fail once or twice but if you keep doing it over and over again it will stick. The faster they play, the more time their excellent lineup of bowlers to decimate their opponent since they have the advantage in time and resources. Cricket is also a game of resources visible in white ball formats.
Haha.....Bazball is just a shiny cover up for ENG's inability to play proper Test cricket. Forget anything else, Bens Stokes wish to have "flat" pitches in Ashes is the biggest indication of the same. Give ENG a proper Test wicket and more often than not they would be all over the place.
Wind forward 3 days - Leach out, Moeen in. Stokes unlikely to bowl. Australia are putting India to the sword. I hope for a brilliant series, but England will need to be at their absolute best to beat the Aussies.
To players of years before they might see this tactic as showing little faith in their team to stick it out. Yes there is examples of legendary totals, but only time will tell if this is sustainable, especially when batting second innings.
Bazball is fine But how good will this tactic go against teams like Australia, India, New Zealand may be South Africa. Because these teams have better bowling attacks than other teams had.
@@RajPlaysFTF I mean.... If you are talking about test match.... Then you don't know anything.... Eng.... Hasn't palyed test against these teams since the start of bazball
@@RajPlaysFTF They have not 'destroyed' Australia or India. They've yet to face Aus at all, and a one-off Test win within a 2-2 series scoreline involving mostly the same players does not mean they've passed the India test in England. England need to first beat Aus and India in full 5 match series in England (something they haven't done for over 4 years) and then at least compete away in Aus and India (which they haven't done for over a decade) to truly prove themselves. I also wouldn't call a 1-1 draw in NZ against a significantly weaker NZ attack 'destroying' the Kiwis in their backyard, given that much weaker teams like SA and Bangladesh have managed the same. That said, all of England's wins across the last year have been impressive especially in the manner they achieved them, and I respect their desire to put Test cricket fans' entertainment ahead of all else.
Bazball is in for a massive shock. It’s only been good against below par (SA), inexperienced/weak (Pakistan) or out of form (NZ) sides. Good bowling doesn’t suddenly start being ineffective because the opposition decides to bat a bit more positively. Flat wickets will nullify Broad. He lacks the pace of Wood, the impeccable line and length of Robinson and the swing that Anderson gets.
I disagree with your second statement. Batting a bit more positively has shown to impact bowler psychology leading to him not balling so much good balls. A good example would be the test last year between eng and India when India were 98-5 and then the sudden counterattack of Risabh Pant resulted in English bowling leaking runs left and right
As an England fan, I'm not going to say that England will sweep the series 5-0, I think that's just naive. But similarly, I think it'd be naive to believe that Australia could do the same. We almost won the 2019 Ashes, and by all rights should have, and that was with a relatively awful team. Roy wasn't a test player, Denly was awful, no Robinson, no Anderson. If that team can take down the Aussie bowling attack and make a good job of things, then I think that this team could really do some damage. I think the ashes this year will be tight, I don't expect anything other than difficult victories and hard toil. Regardless of what happens, this stands to be a phenomenally exciting series, and I'm equally scared and excited. Bring it on
Why should England have won the 2019 ashes by all rights? It ended up a fairly even series and it was Australias to win if not for terrible captaincy by Paine. In fact if it hadn't been for his awful captaincy Australia probably would have walloped that side 3-1.
@@theuglyhairmonster2 bringing the hypothetical of better captaincy in is pointless. That's like me saying that if Root didn't captain so badly in the 2021 ashes, we wouldn't have lost 4-0. Probably true, utterly pointless because it would have required a fundamental change to the team that just wouldn't be realistic. The reason I say we should have won in 2019 was because of the 2nd test. If it wasn't for the rain, we would have had it. Australia needed 123 more runs with just 4 wickets in hand, with Archer and Leach on fire. Obviously winning that match would effect all subsequent matches, but I don't think it's unrealistic to say that England should have won 3-2, if it wasn't for factors outside of our control
@@oliverwalker7658 Nothing hypothetical about the LBW at Headingly after wasting a review and one of the worst decisions I've ever seen from an umpire pal, especially being that wasted review was one that nobody but Paine wanted to go for, and what happened in the next over? so by your logic and "by all rights" Australia should have won that. The fact is the series was Australias to win and they dropped the ball (Lyon too there ;) )
@@theuglyhairmonster2 I do understand being frustrated about the LBW, however let's face it, it shouldn't have been out of Australia's control. Individual mistakes that single players make still count against the team, if that makes sense. The weather was utterly out of everyone's hands, but Australia should have still had that review for LBW, it's their own fault that they didn't. The only thing that realistically stopped England from winning was something that there could be utterly no control over, whatsoever. The series should have been England's, however I'm happy to agree to disagree. What I was more focusing on was the fact that we almost won in 2019, and I think since then England have seen far more improvement than Australia have
@@oliverwalker7658 I agree eng are a much improved side in test cricket now but ask any neutral in 2019 ashes aus played better cricket and would have won on most days because that umpiring blunder rarely happens
Well this didn't age well. Aussies up 1-0 and looking the goods at Lords. Doesn't help when Englands meat-heads start peppering a one-legged tail ender with bouncers when a yorker (or anything up and on the stumps) was most likely to get him. This wasted 4 overs of English batting time and added another 10 runs to Australia's total. Could very well cost them the Ashes...
It's g0t to be closest ashes for years. Tough to call but England have to be slight favourites. Full of confidence but they need Anderson and Robinson fit
Did he say fast flat wickets? wouldnt you then go with a leg side dominant field and bowl at the body? if a team is intent on scoring runs then they will have to swing at the short ball and if it doesnt come off at a high enough percentage then the batters will either get hit or caught out swinging. There is a reason there are limited shorts balls you can bowl in odi cricket per over. Should be a really good series either way, could be the most interesting since 2005 and maybe even a pivotal moment in bringing back fans to test cricket
@@JoshuaMSP1995 absolutely, but 2 thats just two over the shoulder, can still be at the body and 5 fielders on the leg side is enough to set a decent trap. Look at the way Head got out against India, same principle
The example of the 2019 test match with Ireland, the groundsman watered the ptich expecting the weather to be hot and dry which was not the case, that was why one the first morning the wicket was near to unplayable. On bazball it works best on flat pitches, as we saw in Pakistan, brings an result into play even on the most boring flat pitches. I think we will see some pretty flat ptiches, well as flat as you can get them in England.
Bazball almost lost in Pakistan lol The only reason they won the first two tests was because of Pakistan's incomplete bowling order with their main bowler injured and a heavily Babar dependent batting order. Any good batting team which doesn't just depend on 2 to 3 players would've easily chased those totals down. Hell at certain stages you'd have put Pakistan as ahead in the chase. It's the bowling which won them those matches, not the batting. Especially the second one.
I think they think bazball works and i think when they get rolled inside 5 days over two tests they will get very nervous and Australia will win comfortably
It's ironic you bringing up Leach after what was said this morning even as a Australian it's quite disappointing as I was looking forward to watching him bowl against us hope he has a speed recovery it must be rough having to deal with so much stuff as he has.
Bazball will destroy English Cricket Team one day. Test Cricket can’t be played without proper technique. Proper strong headed pacers can destroy this tactic very quickly.
I think bazball is valid only on flat wickets. We r missing a point that all these matches were on flat pitches. When they play in England they can easily make pitch of their choice. It will be put under real test when they play in subcontinent or Australia where the pitches will be spin friendly or there will be lot for bowlers
Indian pitches will never be bazzball friendly, bazzball needs a partial flat lifeless wicket to work, won’t work in India or aus, England lost the series to New Zealand
Don’t get it wrong it does sound like it’s a very good tactic. Whether or not it’ll work against the big countries like Australia, New Zealand and India for example is a different ball game all together. Time will tell
England on Australian soil = barely competent
Australia on English soil = fair contest
England on aus soil = no chance

So in the next test cycle of ICC TEST CHAMPIONSHIP, can we able to see or is it a guarantee that England will be there waiting for other test playing nations to fight out for the remaining one spot❓ Let’s give it to them. Isn’t
@Bat Man we will see eh? 👀
@Rajesh Raman why so salty?
@@neilbirch8431 I can sense your disappointment since England was not there in the final for two cycles and india is there in their second consecutive finals.
I like the concept but I'm not sure if it'll work against Australia.
I mean, isn't the point to get a result in the end? They executed that perfectly in the first test 😂
The biggest question is will Bazball work on spin friendly tracks in India this Winter
It won't work anywhere except flat tracks or weak bowling attacks. Just because they smashed Pakistan and Ireland and road does not mean it will work everywhere
Guess not
After Leach's injury, I really hope they convince Moeen to come back, surely he would be more suited under this new England test side.
Haha! I guess ecb and moeen listened your comment srsly🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
australia thanks you for this idea
@@justinszabo5205 still plenty of cricket to play!
judging from this current performance i’m not so sure
Fun fact - Sri Lanka scored 704/3 against Ireland in a test match about 2 months ago
They scored the previous highest test score against india way before england
This aged well.
Leach being out could be a killer though 😭
Exactly. Our only hope, Moeen.

or Rashid. Imagine him having the freedom to take wickets and not worry about getting slogged.
Yeah now we can't rely on his heroics staying at the crease when the rest have failed!😢
thank you for this video
Now Ollie Pope averages 35? Scary.
Mate, this was an awesome video - well done
Just wait until they get on a real green pacey pitch.
Laughs in Steve smith
Hello my name is Australia
Indeed, Bazza as Test head coach, Mott as white ball coach, Hussey and Saker as recent England coaches, former Aussie baseball coach in the ranks.....not hard to see where this agression is coming from. Next thing they will have a kangaroo and emu and kiwi on their caps.
Update after that lovely loss at Edgbaston!!!! cheers bad sports, karma came to get ya
Audio where?
There will be far bigger challanges for this bazball team, specially this ashes and if england fail again in this ashes which I think will be 3rd in a row then all the talks of bazball should reduce
Just a tip from the future: no
Yeah Australia and India debunked bazball, this video aged like milk
Amazing contrent, you have earned a subscriber with the notification bell on
Many forgot the one who started this all in England limited overs side after 2015 WC- Eoin Morgan
Bazball is laughable. England's 4-1 loss in India. The 3 lions cannot even post 300 runs on board with Bazball.
Haha.....Bazball is just a shiny cover up for ENG's inability to play proper Test cricket. Forget anything else, Bens Stokes wish to have "flat" pitches in Ashes is the biggest indication of the same. Give ENG a proper Test wicket and more often than not they would be all over the place.
unstoppable, what??
😅😂😂😂😂😂
What if Buttler return in Test Cricket with Attacking Cricket

Wind forward 3 days - Leach out, Moeen in. Stokes unlikely to bowl. Australia are putting India to the sword.
I hope for a brilliant series, but England will need to be at their absolute best to beat the Aussies.
To players of years before they might see this tactic as showing little faith in their team to stick it out. Yes there is examples of legendary totals, but only time will tell if this is sustainable, especially when batting second innings.
lmao this aged well go ausssies
Bazball/ the early declaration is the direct reason behind england losing this match
Bazball is fine
But how good will this tactic go against teams like Australia, India, New Zealand may be South Africa.
Because these teams have better bowling attacks than other teams had.
Bazball already destroyed them 😂
@@RajPlaysFTF I mean.... If you are talking about test match.... Then you don't know anything.... Eng.... Hasn't palyed test against these teams since the start of bazball
@@RajPlaysFTF The series was1-1 against newzealand.... So.. Logically they did not 'distroy' them....
@@skjschchsounds3400 nz won by 1 runs basically its win for eng
If Crawley averages more than 15 in the ashes I'll eat my hat.
i dont get why they dont try Dan Lawrence?
Bro I think ur gonna eat ur hat 😂
@@Ash-mk1ix 😬
how about now?
Im so hyped for the ashes now. Cant wait
A good example would be the test last year between eng and India when India were 98-5 and then the sudden counterattack of Risabh Pant resulted in English bowling leaking runs left and right
now they are 2-0 down in ashes
And about to be 3-0
I love how England reached to WTC final by playing bazball cricket. 😮
Great video, you got a new sub 😊
It's g0t to be closest ashes for years. Tough to call but England have to be slight favourites. Full of confidence but they need Anderson and Robinson fit
Wirh moeen in what a batting line-up, what will he bat 8 or 9! That's crazy
I do fear Stokes's knee injury is really serious. We may have to prepare for life without him at sometime
Seeing how Australia is batting
You’re pretty spot on with the weaknesses
Did he say fast flat wickets? wouldnt you then go with a leg side dominant field and bowl at the body? if a team is intent on scoring runs then they will have to swing at the short ball and if it doesnt come off at a high enough percentage then the batters will either get hit or caught out swinging. There is a reason there are limited shorts balls you can bowl in odi cricket per over. Should be a really good series either way, could be the most interesting since 2005 and maybe even a pivotal moment in bringing back fans to test cricket
There are limits to the number of the fielders you can put on the leg side; also limits to the number of short balls you can bowl in tests.
Bazball almost lost in Pakistan lol
The only reason they won the first two tests was because of Pakistan's incomplete bowling order with their main bowler injured and a heavily Babar dependent batting order. Any good batting team which doesn't just depend on 2 to 3 players would've easily chased those totals down. Hell at certain stages you'd have put Pakistan as ahead in the chase. It's the bowling which won them those matches, not the batting. Especially the second one.
Great video. You deserve more subs
serious video this, great watch
I think they think bazball works and i think when they get rolled inside 5 days over two tests they will get very nervous and Australia will win comfortably
World is not ready for Brook+Bairstow
It's ironic you bringing up Leach after what was said this morning even as a Australian it's quite disappointing as I was looking forward to watching him bowl against us hope he has a speed recovery it must be rough having to deal with so much stuff as he has.
Bazball will destroy English Cricket Team one day. Test Cricket can’t be played without proper technique. Proper strong headed pacers can destroy this tactic very quickly.
The real change came when England embarrassingly lost a test series to the Windies in Windies
I think bazball is valid only on flat wickets. We r missing a point that all these matches were on flat pitches.
When they play in England they can easily make pitch of their choice.
It will be put under real test when they play in subcontinent or Australia where the pitches will be spin friendly or there will be lot for bowlers
Only way to revive the test vive

Need a coach like Bazball for the indian team asap. Not to ignore though, the indian team itself needs a significant overhaul.
