Queen did play quite a few US dates with Mott the Hoople before cancelling because Brian May got Hepatitis. The Sheer Heart Attack album didn't come out until later that same year so Kansas was called in to cover Queen's opening slot supporting Queen 2 not Sheer Heart Attack.

@@magneto7930 Then didn't Styx also play with Queen on the ensuing Sheer Heart Attack Tour?

I can confirm totally what Mr. Williams said here. I had a very lucky chance in my life (...and I wasn't a famous guy back then), to spend an entire afternoon with Queen while they were recording Innuendo. Queen they were all so kind with me that for a moment, I've forgot that I was in the presence of such famous and worshiped band around the world; and this proves how down to earth and humble those guys were with a stranger like me. They are truly Gentlemen and I will never forget that afternoon back in 1990 in London. I can honestly say that I grew up with bread, Kansas and Queen in my young days, so imagine me after many years, being in a studio with those guys, the dream came true. I truly hope that one day I will meet Kansas too, that will close my "dream come true" circle. God bless these Bands, they contribute so much in my career as a musician that if I became a pro-muso, it's just thanks to them and many other important bands around that time coming from America or UK.
    Love them!

Saw Freddie and the boys in 1978. It's interesting that Queen released a song called Play the Game and then 2 years later Roger sings on Play the Game Tonight by Kansas. Both great bands!

I was lucky enough to see Rich and Kansas with Steve Morse in 1986. They were fantastic.

THANK YOU!!! - Have waited a long time to see you interview Kansas and put them on the radar on this channel. Their last two full studio albums, "Prelude Implicit" and "Absence of Presence", have included some of the best music they have ever produced! I can only hope that this is just the beginning of much more of the same, and their live shows with this line-up are as good, if not better, than previous line-ups regarding energy and talent.

Queen fanatic who followed on every tour 👍
Roger also did high harmonies on Right Away & Diamonds and Pearls.
      1982.
That early 1975 tour bill was amazing! My 15th year on the planet :)
And yes, Freddie was a great guy 🌟
My all-time fave band headlining, and another top 5 opening?
      Cannot beat that!
BTW, my Live Aid London shirts still fit 💯
      Amazing bands of real musicians.

I saw Mott The Hoople at the Masonic Temple in Detroit and QUEEN was a no show and KANSAS was the opening band. I was glad that I saw KANSAS instead of QUEEN. I was never a big fan of queen. I can take em or leave em. ledave em more often than not.

what you might not understand about Queen on the Mott tour. It's been said by a lot of people that Queen blew them off the stage nightly. Yeah, missing out on seeing the most unique guitarist since Hendrix. Yeah who would want to see that? But it does come down to personal tastes and I can respect that. Always been bummed I didnt see Kansas with Steve or John E. Amazing voices.
