    If you were born or started keeping reptiles after the inception of the internet you don't know how spoiled and lucky we are to have people like Gavin and his great information at our fingertips. I remember back in the 80's and early 90's we all kept our reptiles the same, in old retired fish aquariums using dangerous heat rocks and flood lamps with no thermostats. I witnessed so many horrific things happen from lack of good information. I've been into reptiles my entire life but it's only recently that I started my breeding projects and I'm so thankful to have people like Gavin to help me out. Thank you Gavin.

    thank you for this series. I have a few males and females I would like to breed that are kept in a dedicated "snake room." great info. you have definitely filled a void when it comes to in-depth information.

    Ive always fed at nighttime, it is natural and it helps me do whatever i need during the day, many problems people have had have been solved by telling them try feeding at night! The response is way better

    your thought process on all this is excellent I think your spot on about the rotation I actually have all my females on the lower levels and my males on the higher. I do a day and night temp change but its to go with my climate it gets so hot through the day and stays hot at night but not as bad so I try to keep them at 90 at all times but it is almost impossible till I finish making my room able to maintain a level ambient air temperature.

    For anyone watchin this remember this is wat he does...it doesnt mean its rite this guy is just a follower he is doin wat others told him...you basically have a guideline n then go based on that...u dnt need to drop any temps to bred or gettin breeddin...temps dnt drop like this in breeddin season in africa...in wild the males and the female stay together thru the whole breeddin season n they do leave den to feed but come back n the male still there...you dnt have to do nun of this waste of time talkin bout droppin temps n changin snakes frm cages....i breed n dnt change temps n have had great results..basically u either have experience with ur animals or u dnt...ppl remember guys like this are just followers of others this guy probably never had an animal in his life but want to tell ppl stories n these stories he heard nuthin he learned himself so thats why u dnt listen to this....he said if u dnt move the female down the rack u wont have babies thats bullshit...if u leave temps normal and just introduce the male eveey 3 to 4 weeks ur female will go gravid at some point wheter u do this or not...so dont listen to this he is a follower not leader just how he was taught

    I am getting ready to start breeding and I am wondering how necessary it is to have a snake room that I can keep constant at the appropriate temps. I really dont have an extra room that I can dedicate to snakes. Is it enough to drop temps in the tubs for breeding or do you all think I will run into issues by not having ambient temps at the ideal level in the room. I know what's ideal but can I still do well by just dropping the tub temps. I currently have sub adults and babies so I have some time yet I'm just trying to prepare for the future. I keep the house between 74-76 degrees and I have no trouble with feeding and shedding now but I know getting females to breed can be a different story. Thanx in advance for all the help.

  • @twoody6505

    I have this issue,i stay in micjigan, it can be 80 1 day,sunny,snow the next,rain the next,buut,i keep a pretty good steady room temp,can keep it 75-80, got a rack,have freedom breeder tubs, and a herpstat 1,also have a jumpstart,i made a home made rack, and use the jumpstart on that,got super steady temps, now the herpstat,seems to warm the tubs up,waay to high,if i set it to 90,my thermometer will go as high as 97,check with temp gun,itll say 95 97 under substrate,,if i drop it to 89,itll drop dow. To 86,but will have a high of 92, on an accurite thermometer, and temp gun,staeting to wonder if its a faulty herpstat

    oops cut off at the end there. great video. i have a room for my snaks i use heat mat and stat etc. what do you use to control the room temperature? that could be the way forward also did you build your own racks in the background or buy them?

    • @Balls2U
      @Balls2U  7 лет назад +1

      Redcoat 13 I use a habistat cooler stat that runs a fan and a extractor fan too to help cool the room......the one rack was built by my mates dad and the other was built by a company. 👍

  • @michaelscreativecreations
    @michaelscreativecreations 7 лет назад +1

    Great info! Very helpful. A lot of people don't cool here because of the temperature. Some do but I say whatever works it works. First year I cooled and then last year I didn't. I really do think a cooling does help better tho. Although I'm thinking how the room adjusts itself I think it's enough to get them going. Anyway like you said you gotta look at your snakes and that's so true. I watch them to see how they act when I start pairing then determine. Two weeks ago was to warm nothing was locking now it's November and I tell yeah what a difference I'm having now. Anyway keep on making great videos.

    So my question is at the end of November do you keep your daytime temp 90 (degrees F) and Night time drop to 88 through the end of April or is the daytime and night time kept at 88 until the end of April or when follicles stop growing? Sorry I just got a little confused. Could you please clarify that for me. Great channel btw!!!

      Thanks for the info. I have an additional question I just got a snake rack VE2 with a VE300 stat. I set it at 90 degrees Fahrenheit and my temp probe says it's at 90 but my pe2 temp gun reads the inside of the bin temp in the 80s is that normal? So I guess the question is should the temp in the bin be less than 90 or 90 also? Thanks for your help.

    • @chriselliott601
      @chriselliott601 6 лет назад +1

      Sorry about last question. Is the 90 degrees Fahrenheit what your setting on your thermostat or what your are reading with your temp gun in the bin? I'm getting 81-84 in bin on my temp gun with the stat set at 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Thanks for your help. I understand no information that you give me is a hard and fast rule and any info you give me I use at my own risk. Thanks for any assistance!!!

    • @trevorbraden5448
      @trevorbraden5448 2 года назад

      @Chris Elliott I have the same problem I've set my thermostats a little higher than 90 and check temps with my gun and can never seem to get consistent temps.... the substrate sometimes makes it hard to read.....I get concerned because the snakes sometimes Burrow below the substrate and sometimes they just sit on top..... so yeah I struggle with keeping the temps on the surface of the tubs right.... my air temps stay perfect though.... it stays around 80 to 83 all year round......
