- After making a video a few months back on the different types of wands available for purchase at Ollivanders, I decided to edit together a separate video detailing all of the advertised (as well as secret) locations in Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade you can utilize an interactive wand to have some fun! There ended up being more locations than I remember, and some I realized while doing this I had personally never done before! An interactive wand is definitely worth the extra few dollars, and using it in both Wizarding Worlds is a great scavenger hunt, as well as a way to burn a little time and take in all the intricate theming that Universal put into the Potter lands.
It’s really impressive you are able to cast spells non-verbally. That’s advanced magic right there!

The fact that Universal even sells interactive wands to people is super cool
I got chosen to go in front of the crowd to get a wand selected for me and I kept making the audience laugh with my responses. After I killed his plant I turned the wand around and handed it back to him saying “yeah I’ll just...” as I handed it back to him and everyone laughed. When the wand finally got selected for me there was a huge spotlight and wind and the Harry Potter theme started blasting it was so awesome!!!

The fact that they thought of all this is so cool. I saw the one in LA for the first time a year and a half ago and nearly cried because it was so immersive

The reparo spell with the armor set was pretty cool and my favorite. I can’t get the image out of my head of a technician trying to fix the armor set and hundreds of children screaming “Reparo” in the background.

ikr, it was really immersive, it felt more like magic than the others
They have different ones in Japan's Universal in Hogsmeade. A couple include dancing luggage by the train, making a flame shoot out of a chimney, bubbles come out of the air, water leaking from cauldrons, and at Christmas dancing ornaments. They use the same interactive wands, so you can bring ones bought from other parks.

I wish we could see Japan and other countries in the wizarding world movies. I want the theme parks to be more centered around how their equivalents to diagonal alley and all that is instead of just being all british.

In addition to making the frog spew water, aguamenti can sometimes shoot a spurt of water out of the top! I splashed someone as they were walking by when I did it 😂
Same thing happened to me! Except my cousin was standing next to me and when I did the “spell” she got all wet!

They should do a dueling section, with special wands that light up, and it can be like laser tag tech. You have to wave your wand certain ways and there are different points for different spells.

Yeah it does! It's about a 4 minute ride that connects both Wizarding Worlds and has a different experience both directions.
Do you have a video of it? If not, would it be possible to make one. Like I said, Hollywood is lame and doesn't have a working engine, so i'd like to see it.
I could try to, but there are some pretty incredible low-light versions of the experience already on a few channels. My camera in low-light isn't the best and the frame rate flickers a bit, and there are better cameras out there to do it justice, haha.

Did you see the dragon breath fire? It shoots flames out every 15 minutes. I was a little scared the first time I saw it. It feels like your hair is about to catch on fire.

You might already know this, but when you're shooting the alien targets in MIB, you'll get more points if you shoot at the ones farther away from you. The infrared is like a cone, so its more accurate from a distance.
I would assume it's the same thing with the interactive wands? (Maybe that's why the ones that are up higher on the buildings in Diagon Alley are easier to try?) Idk just spit-balling here 🤣
If you look on the information sheets about the interactive wands, the tips just reflect IR and the cameras are meant to pick up the reflected IR. If the reflected light moves in the general desired fashion, then something happens. In MiB it's more like you're shooting a laser that the targets have to identify rather than reflecting. I think standing further away would make it more difficult for the cameras to pick up the IR, but at the same time it doesn't work if you're too close, kind of like a PlayStation camera.

I wish I could go but sadly I live in Scotland. Atleast we have film locations here though 😂 If anyone was curious the bridge where Harry nearly fell out the flying car is an actual bridge here in scotland and you can take a train over it. It’s a great experience for anyone in the UK. There’s also loads more Harry Potter inspired areas, such as the place that inspired Diagon Alley!
I bought an interactive wand and 2 years later I went back. My wand got a little wobbly so I went to Olivanders for advice and i told the lady it had been two years but they still replaced it. No questions asked.
My favorite one was the second to last one you did (Beedle The Bard book).
i was in wizarding world in japan a month ago and the magic is so much fun! one thing i loved there was there were multiple possible results from most of the spells (idk if it's the same in america). so maybe you open the suitcases and a light shines forth, or maybe you really piss off the hogwarts express and it toots at you in annoyance.
i also got my wand in the choosing ceremony and im honestly still not over it

This really answered the question I was asking of "what do they do" aside from stuff in the park not much. It's super cool that they do stuff in the parks, but I'll save getting one of them for when I visit, right now I'm looking on ebay to get just one to display and all the interactive one's are more pricey than the bog standard one's. I just got my own interactive wand and I tried some of these out! Also lol me (a Hufflepuff) in Knocktern Alley was very just scared to death vs my sister (a Slytherin) who was right at home 😂

watching this the difference between Disney parks and Universal is really clear. Disney would have hidden those cameras better, some of them are clearly seen - Disney would have camouflaged them better.

You can buy them pretty much anywhere actually. Most of the big stores at Islands and Universal have wand selections as well as some of the resort stores, but both Ollivanders in both parks sell them and Gregorovitch in Diagon also sells them. Ollivanders has the biggest selection though, and the show too.
The wands are also $50 USD just so you know.
LilyPlayzGamez technically they're like 45. If you come from a place that doesn't charge sales tax and bring proof they're around forty five
When i was over at the London Warner Bros. Harry Potter Tour they actually had proper wooden wands that felt like pretty high quality, are these also made of high quality?
Nah, these are plastic. But you can make your own wand so it can also interact just like the official ones. All you need is a relector at the tip to reflect the IR beam. That's all there is to it.
OMG those spells are the same as those in the new interactive app (the pokemon go equivalent). Wizards Unite is SO much fun!
