Aniek Wichers in an interview with Eddie Redmayne, he said he chose that particular wand with the groves and chips in it to represent Newt being a magizooologist (however it’s spelt) it just shows how he’s been through it all with dangerous creatures etc etc
I have the wand and looked up close at the marks. They're not from human teeth, they're clearly scratches made from claws or maybe one spot that looks like a bite from a fanged beast. The dents are deep and pointy.

Yeah, the albus wand is definitely the most beautiful. However, my favourite wand will always be Hermione Granger’s wand, it’s foresty and elf like, I really like the wooden aesthetics.

I'm also a Hufflepuff and I own Narcissa's wand too. I went to Universal a few weeks ago and everyone I met asked if I was in Slytherin because I was holding her wand. For anyone interested in the runes on Dumbledore's wand (based on my very limited foray into Elder Futhark). Dagaz (large one on the handle base) - refers to time and is the counterpart of Jera (Jera is annual, Degaz is daily); Dagaz is a rune of bold change Band around handle (they are meant to be read with the wand held vertically, handle at the top and the tip pointing down): Jera (looks like two opposing arrows) - refers to time and is the counterpart of Dagaz above; Jera is the rune of gentle change Ansuz (looks like a slanted F, and from the video it actually looks like there are 2 right next to each other) - common interpretation is that it signifies a god, particularly Odin, and can refer to an ancestry tracing back to old gods; can be used to denote to mental stability, inspiration, persuasion, transmission of intelligence [if it's not two of these then I can't tell what the other one is - closest in shape is Laguz, which means water] Uruz (looks like an upside down U or V) - relates to a variety of things like endurance, physical health, strength, constancy, etc.

Exactly, me too. I think that a lot of the more unique, intrivate wands can’t be the characters’ first wands they got when they were kids because you don’t want a kid to be poking his eye out with a horn handle on his wand haha. I think that they either had their previous wands customised or they got new wands when they got older to match their taste/lifestyle.

This movie really pushed the logic of wand physics in the Wizarding World. In one scene Newt had his wand end elongate into a sort of horn so he could listen to the ground, and Skenders wand can actually extend into a full ringmaster cane almost as long as himself. Now whether or not these are features unique to a few wands, it begs the question: Can wizards actually alter or customize the appearance of their wands?

Hi! I don’t have twitter so my mom let me use her account. I’ve always had anxiety, so my therapists would try to find escapes for me. When I was 8, my mom started reading Harry Potter to me and I started to become myself again. Before I started reading Harry Potter, I was always moody and argumentative. As soon as I started the books, my parents saw me starting to become positive again. When I’m having a bad day, I watch the movies on repeat and read my favorite books over and over. I love the series and I love the people involved in it! I am living with an illness called Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain Syndrome. It causes me to feel extreme amounts of pain when I get stressed. I have been battling with it for three years now. When I feel the pain coming, I take out Harry Potter and start reading until the pain goes away. To me, the wizarding world means, family. My mom first introducted me to Harry Potter when i was young and i fell in love, I was still too young to see the movies in the cinema so only my brother could go with her, but as soon as they were out on dvd we always had movie nights with my whole family to watch the new movie and i would kind of claim the dvd after and keep watching it again and again. The Rune at the bottom of Dumbledore's wand is a rune called "Dagaz" which, in turn represents the letter "D". These are runes I use in my personal white witchcraft.
Runes translate to untamed potential, insight, true vision and prosperity ( sides of wand). Bottom of wand translates to wrath of nature or uncontrolled forces. Runes have multiple different meanings meanings. Each rune corresponds to different types of wood and the wood corresponds to times of year(zodiac signs). The fantastic beast and harry potter movies go further into detail than most people are aware of. J.K. Rowling Definately did her homework.

Nicholas wand is probably shaped like that because of how old he is, over time the handle would have chipped away to form the shape of which he holds it (the curve around his hand and the dip where his thumb lay)

The closest match on the hilt is Mannaz (M or "man"), representative of intelligence, forethought, and skill (among other things). Just in case you haven't already discovered the meaning of the rune symbols on Dumbledore's wands yet, I thought I'd provide this information; The Rune symbol on the end of the wand that looks like the roman numeral 10 (X) on it's side, is called daeg in Old English. It's short meaning is Breakthrough, Transformation and Day. It is the final Rune belonging to the Cycle of Initiation. From The Book of Runes by Ralph Blum, "Daeg (or Dagaz the Germanic version) marks a major shift or breakthrough in the process of self-change, a complete transformation in attitude - a 180 degree turn. For some the transition is so radical that they no longer continue to live the ordinary life in the ordinary way. The symbols around the band include two of the f shaped symbols that stand for Ansuz. It's short meaning is; Signals, Messenger, or The God Loki. "The keynote here is receiving messages, signals, gifts" including warnings. Then there is the one that looks like an "n". It is called Uruz and symbolizes; strength, manhood, womanhood or a wild ox. I actually liked the first version of Grindelwalds wand better. It looked more like something I would call a magic wand. Very rustique, nature, witchy thingy ( I hope you get what I mean) The Spielman wand reminds me of the Tower from a Chess-game...and maybe that speaks for itself. I have Narcissa`s wand, which is awesome, really similar to Lucious`s wand as well.
I think the gnaws are actually from Newt because he puts his wand in between his teeth. I think I saw an interview that he did explaining this.

So I'm wondering, some wands have paint on them right? Like the circus dudes wand. Did he get it like that when he was younger? Did he get a new wand when he joined the circus? Did he paint it himself? Can you paint your wand or does this effect the performance of the wand? I have questions.

Exactly, me too. I think that a lot of the more unique, intrivate wands can’t be the characters’ first wands they got when they were kids because you don’t want a kid to be poking his eye out with a horn handle on his wand haha. I think that they either had their previous wands customised or they got new wands when they got older to match their taste/lifestyle.

I wouldn't be surprised if your fave is Dumbledore's wand. It's love at first sight for me when I saw it on the trailers. Now that I've seen that there are runes on the neck and a bindrune at the bottom of the handle, I'm more in love with it.

This movie really pushed the logic of wand physics in the Wizarding World. In one scene Newt had his wand end elongate into a sort of horn so he could listen to the ground, and Skenders wand can actually extend into a full ringmaster cane almost as long as himself. Now whether or not these are features unique to a few wands, it begs the question: Can wizards actually alter or customize the appearance of their wands?

Hi! I don’t have twitter so my mom let me use her account. I’ve always had anxiety, so my therapists would try to find escapes for me. When I was 8, my mom started reading Harry Potter to me and I started to become myself again. Before I started reading Harry Potter, I was always moody and argumentative. As soon as I started the books, my parents saw me starting to become positive again. When I’m having a bad day, I watch the movies on repeat and read my favorite books over and over. I love the series and I love the people involved in it! I am living with an illness called Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain Syndrome. It causes me to feel extreme amounts of pain when I get stressed. I have been battling with it for three years now. When I feel the pain coming, I take out Harry Potter and start reading until the pain goes away. Harry Potter has really helped me cope with my struggles and has changed me for the better. I really hope you can consider me for the giveaway!

To me, the wizarding world means, family. My mom first introducted me to Harry Potter when i was young and i fell in love, I was still too young to see the movies in the cinema so only my brother could go with her, but as soon as they were out on dvd we always had movie nights with my whole family to watch the new movie and i would kind of claim the dvd after and keep watching it again and again. Now i'm older, have read all the books and am still very much in love with the wizarding world, i have found more family online who share this love, like our magical family on this channel which i am very thankfull for :3 To me it also means accepting who i am, i never thought i fitted the Gryffindor reputation i guess, but now i do feel like a Neville, brave in my own way. Runes translate to untamed potential, insight, true vision and prosperity ( sides of wand). Bottom of wand translates to wrath of nature or uncontrolled forces. Runes have multiple different meanings meanings. Each rune corresponds to different types of wood and the wood corresponds to times of year(zodiac signs). The fantastic beast and harry potter movies go further into detail than most people are aware of. J.K. Rowling Definately did her homework.

Nicholas wand is probably shaped like that because of how old he is, over time the handle would have chipped away to form the shape of which he holds it (the curve around his hand and the dip where his thumb lay)

After a quick check, the runes look like stylized Old Futhark runes ("futhark" coming from the sounds of the first 6 in order). The closest match on the hilt is Mannaz (M or "man"), representative of intelligence, forethought, and skill (among other things). Of the four runes on the ring around the handle, two of them look like Ansuz (A, or "ancestral god"), whose meanings include inspiration, harmony, trust, and wisdom (reversed it's trickery, failed communication, and manipulation by others); the two nested triangular figures together are Jera (J/Y or "year"), representing prosperity, fruition, and a promise of success earned; and the three-line rune is Uruz (U or "ox"), representing strength, speed, untamed potential, freedom, courage, and wisdom (reversed it's missed abilities / opportunities, weak willpower, and ignorance). All in all, veerrrrry interesting runes for Professor Dumbledore to have on his wand!

@@Toneh9 In my mind, the possible interpretations of the four smaller runes lend themselves very well to what we know about the story of Dumbledore & Grindelwald, especially when the "reversed" meaning of the runes is added to the equation. In fact, I just rechecked the video, and those runes actually appear upside-down to anyone holding the wand by its handle! A warning, perhaps...? Hmmm... :-)

im actually really new to the harry potter fandom. I watched te movies in 2016.... I know, I know thats really late..... My mom never let me watch them she thought they were bad movies wich weren't okay for kids xD. But i'm really happy that I did watch them in the end

Just in case you haven't already discovered the meaning of the rune symbols on Dumbledore's wands yet, I thought I'd provide this information;
The Rune symbol on the end of the wand that looks like the roman numeral 10 (X) on it's side, is called daeg in Old English. It's short meaning is Breakthrough, Transformation and Day. It is the final Rune belonging to the Cycle of Initiation. From The Book of Runes by Ralph Blum, "Daeg (or Dagaz the Germanic version) marks a major shift or breakthrough in the process of self-change, a complete transformation in attitude - a 180 degree turn. For some the transition is so radical that they no longer continue to live the ordinary life in the ordinary way.
The symbols around the band include two of the f shaped symbols that stand for Ansuz. It's short meaning is; Signals, Messenger, or The God Loki. "The keynote here is receiving messages, signals, gifts" including warnings. Then there is the one that looks like an "n". It is called Uruz and symbolizes; strength, manhood, womanhood or a wild ox. "This is the Rune of termination and new beginnings, and indicates that the life you have been living has outgrown its form." The final symbol that looks like two offset arrow tips pointing in opposite directions (). It is called Jera and symbolizes; Harvest, Fertile Season and One Year. It portends "beneficial outcomes applied to any activity or endeavor to which you are committed."
I can see how these apply to the younger Dumbledore and hope this has been helpful.

from what i can tell the runes around the handle spell ujaau. the runes are uruz, jera, ansuz, ansuz, uruz. the one at the bottom appears to either be dagaz (which is d) or mannaz (which is m)

I actually liked the first version of Grindelwalds wand better. It looked more like something I would call a magic wand. Very rustique, nature, witchy thingy ( I hope you get what I mean) The Spielman wand reminds me of the Tower from a Chess-game...and maybe that speaks for itself.
