The side which doesn’t have the line under the triangle is the side which should be facing upwards when wielding the wand, otherwise the spell being cast will backfire. A clever trick that definitely fits his personality imo. I love it when there’s little details like these in wands 😊

Years ago, my family all did Potter costumes for Halloween and I made the wands. It’s amazing to watch you work with proper tools! I made do with one carving knife and a ruler. I’d love to see how you tackle Tonks’ pitcher plant-like wand, it was definitely the most challenging for me.

This was SPECTACULAR to watch from beginning to end. I wish I had found this channel back in June of 2023. I've played Hogwarts Legacy after using the results from the official Wizarding World tests to find my Hogwarts house and wand, it's been an urge bring my personal wand into reality. I've been looking all over Facebook, Instagram, and Reddit to find someone skilled enough to help me in this endeavor. Seeing your skills and your attention to detail you might have been just the person I'm looking for. But I understand you're taking time off to focus on other goals. The entire process looks therapeutic and definitely encourages me to watch more of your videos.
My favorite part of all your videos is when I stop being able to recognize which wand is the official resin replica and which one is the one you carved. Incredible work, as always!
I love the wands in the series with the symbols/runes and intricate designs along them. This and Cedrics being my favorites. Just something about the extra personalization Mr. Ollivander put into them makes them feel cooler to me lol. Great video, man. 🙂
The carvings/runes have pretty cool meanings too, the squiggly ones along the shaft were put on his wand when he was sent to Askaban and represent the crimes he was falsely accused of (murder). Bellatrix has similar carvings along her wand which represent her crimes of torture. The carvings on Sirius' wand handle supposedly translates to 'more or less human', which people believe he may have carved into the wand when he became an Animagus, possibly as a sign of his support/solidarity for Remus Lupin's Lycanthropy.

Similar to actual dogs, you have to talk to them for them to obey.

I’ve gotten back into wand making after months of having no motivation. A few days ago I finished an oak and maple wand that I made look very ancient, like it’s seen a lot of action. I also have some I made in the summer that I drilled out most of the way to accept the core substance of my choice. Great video as always

Sirius black is one of my favorite characters of Harry Potter, and probably the saddest death I've ever seen happen aside from Severus Snapes, but Sirius was one of those kind of people to talk to too, if your feeling mad, upset or sad, and he really was a wizard with a big caring heart, and he deserved better after being framed sent to Azkaban, and always on the run from the ministry, and his life was cut off short unfortunately, and making his wand is an honor towards this character, because no matter what, that wand remains loyal to him, even in death, sorry for the lecture, I felt like it was nessesary to say, but you've done an awesome job, his wand was challenge and you nailed it, but I wish you luck for snapes wand in the future and many others to come by🙏🙏🙏🙏

I'd love to see voldemort's wand made in its official wood, though it's a bit dangerous since yew wood is one of the poisonous woods on the planet. The entire tree, including the wood itself, bark, leaves, and seeds, contains a toxic substance called taxine, which even touching, causes skin irritation, and inhaling the dust is incredibly dangerous. Though it will be cool to see it, if he is able to take all possible safety precautions.

A tip from a fellow woodworker with carvings like this I find carving a line then following with the Dremel/ rotary tool spot on straight lines and no weird tear out.
Ah, honestly one of my favourite wand designs (i love spirals and swirlies) and in one of my favourite woods, as a guitarist, I do love me an ebony fretboard. You're right about how beautiful the black colour of Ebony is, or at least the heartwood lol. Yeah, how many people watching this don't actually know that Ebony tree wood is mostly white? XD

A wood that makes wand suitable for combat and transfiguration? Sounds quite fitting for Sirius Black. Combined with the appearance of the wand, I think we can consider it basically canon that his wand was ebony.

Note: Ebony is endangered due to overharvesting, and most that is available from Africa was harvested illegally. African Blackwood/Grenadilla grown in Florida might be a good substitute (outside its native range, so there's no chance of poaching). In generally, if the wood is tropical and you recognize the name, check where it came from. A lot of those famous ones were overharvested over the last 200 years and are now not doing well. Indian Mahogany, Teak, and Koa, for example.
Phenomenal job as always, I really like the darker colour you achieved from the Ebony wood, sadly the replica versions have a very stony, grey tone to their paint and it makes them look very plasticy in direct light.
When we went to Universal in Florida each of our family members got a wand and I chose the Sirius wand Because of it's geometric appearance rather than the twig-like look of a lot of the wands.
I like very much the wounds you did. I do the same actually (but not based on HP), with less machinery, but real powering place (Savernake, Brocéliande, Aokigahara, Siem Reap...) and want to continue my travels around the world...
Some sort of fostner bit would give you the same ring with the small circle in the center. Not sure exact size but grab a bit and plunge about 1/8” into a piece of wood and whola there it is.
Great job. Looks beautiful. I looked thru the commends and did not see anyone comment that the one side with only one cross mark vs the double on the other three sides is on purpose. It was created that way.The wand will auto curse anyone that does not have the odd side up when casting a spell.
