After updating windows 10 on my laptop to version 1903, OBS stopped working, now it is fixed!

Heres a tip, if it still shows a black screen, remove your display capture and add it again. Hope this helps

Thanks, I was just having trouble to where it was located; I know a lot about these things too and it *did* work as I follow ed the steps exactly at the same time and speed.
Thanks for this video, Alternative solution that I found for OSB is to use Image in lower layer , for this image choose green background image or you can use color background with green selected. the second layer above will be video capture device. Once you record, the video cam will be at the lower right of the mp4 file and the entire screen will have a green background. This becomes very useful when you import this clip into DaVinci Resolve and just remove the green background. on the other hand if you had left the default black background , removing black color would also remove black hairs from the video clip and would mess up the recording 🙂

Thanks a lot. Was using Xsplit and wanted to switch to OBS. Black screen was an issue and now that it is sorted, I can start recording games. Thanks again
3:16 The only problem with doing "power saving mode" is that that when you record the quality goes WAYYYY down. Is there any way to fix this and still use the higher quality card? When I click the "High performance mode" I get the black screen again. Also the game capture doesn't work for me at all, the game capture is always a black screen.
So, did you get the game capture black screen fixed somehow?

@@toxicraft7212 i don't have the option to chose higher quality and lower fps, because all i get is a black screen. im just automatically stuck having higher fps and lower quality. i was asking how to fix the black screen so i can actually decide between the two.

Charlene Mae Daya yeah i read an article that said your graphics card that is being used to play the game and the graphics card that is being used to record have to be the same. fixed this a while back!

Updated recently and the 'window capture' doesn't capture 'motion image/ videos' i.e when trying to record a youtube video (not fullscreen) the video section will be blank/ black while showing the rest at static..
is there a method to resolve this issue? have tried the method you've suggested by didn't work.

perfect to the point dude, my friends if you can't find graphics settings in windows search box then type nvidia control panel and go to manage 3d setting then select the program setting tab and add the obs program and finally select the graphic preference integrated for obs program.

Hi Kevin, is there a way to fix a black screen recording file? There is audio with black screen, and in the past I did see the recording itself...
I say it does fix the display capture issue, but when you play a game and load up the game capture video. its still black. So i go in and change it to high performance like i did last time it worked, but this time both are blacked out, and when i have minecraft open and flip between scene 1 and gameplay scene. The game crashes with error 0. So do I just try other software instead of OBS on my nitro 5 laptop? I did everything in my power and all the information to fix the problem didnt work, so i am at a loss right now on doing streaming nor video recording...

Where can I find graphic settings in windows 8.1?
Does this mean that when I am playing a game it will not use my nvidia graphics card and use my integrated graphics instead? If so is there a way to use my graphics card
on high performance settings the screen still black on desktop will it work on games or not?

I'm trying to record some videos running in one website. But using OBS I'm not able to capture those videos. Only the sound is being recorded. So, black screen is coming with sound. Any leads?
I'm trying to play somewhat old game. I have two options with screen saving stuff, both are the same graphic card i have. How do i make the game appear in obs?
I did not have the option of two (Intel/NVIDEA) graphic preferences but I got it to work through setting both OBS and the Browser to NVIDEA. Hence while not directly suggesting the solution, you indirectly suggested it. Thanks!
I tried all of this, including the video on how to generally set it up, but it hasn't worked. I dont know if there is a certain setting I forgot to set, but my laptop isn't working with it
I experienced the black video in OBS just occasionally. After many useless attempts, I realized that it happened when I had disconnected/connected external monitors or a projector before recording.
Final tip:
BEFORE STARTING YOUR RECORDING, ALWAYS DO A TRIAL RECORDING AND WATCH IT
(mostly if you have connected/disconnected an external video device)

My problem is that my Capture device source which I use a Elgato HD60S+ for my PS4 screen shows a blackscreen. All the videos on the Blackscreen problem is about Game Capture and Display Capture but what about Capture Device Blackscreen. Can anyone help me with this?

I have a problem with my window 10 Pro Version 20H2.
The Media Feature Pack is missing from the app.
When I download it from the Microsoft page and installed it, It still doesn't show on the computer.
Most of the tutorial told me to go to Setting > App > Optional Feature > Add Feature and Find the Media Feature Pack
but I can't find it on the computer ..... and I go the the website download it and installed it again but it said
Window Update Standalone Installer
Feature Pack for Windows (KB3010081) is already installed on this computer.
but it still not showing on the Add Feature list.

I need help. I recorded a funeral with OBS which I was watching at the time. When I was done and looked at the video OBS had recorded a page that was minimized over the entire video. Is there a way to remove this obstruction?
So if both power saving & high performance have the NVIDIA as the option what should we do?
This works but I play a lot of fortnite and on the settings I play on I get 130 to 160 FPS. When I record with obs I only get 30 to 60 FPS. The specs on my laptop are pretty good because it has a 10th gen intel core i5 and a gtx 1650. I am wondering when I put obs to power saver it made fortnite use the integrated graphics when also using obs instead of the gtx 1650. I am confused why the FPS drop is so drastic and want to know why.

Okay so mine for some reason has both Power Saving Mode AND High performance mode as my GPU. How do I change the Power Saving mode to the processor?? I don't believe my motherboard came with an integrated, so I'm dedicated for both.
