Jim, you've been in my feed sporadically for a while but I didn't really look into your swing until last week. After one day of looking into your swing, I took it to the course and shot better than my recent average. I'm a 8hdcp but I've been so inconsistent lately. Last week I shot an easy 82 while driving the ball pretty rough most of the round (didn't get to practice with the driver prior to round but figured it out the last 3-4 holes). Your concepts are so dang good...in every facet. My game from 100y and in was lights out...approach shot, pitching, chipping, and freaking putting. So impressed and excited to keep working on these concepts. The putting was so huge...rewiring my brain to think with the trail side and open my stance was a game changer. In terms of the full swing, I've tried stack and tilt and the left sided swing before and had some real good results but it was streaky. They had the concept of weight forward which made a lot of sense to me, but I think what was missing is the closed stance and the STILLNESS! Also, I had a buddy playing with me that is just trying to break 100. I had him try the swing with some rough direction from me and he was hitting shots he's never hit before and even had 2-3 birdie putts. He was so blown away. I was so excited for him. Anyway Jim, love the swing and I'll be testing it out again this morning...I'll see you soon in the Academy for sure!

Jim I don’t know if you read these comments or not, but I gotta say thanks! I’m left handed but I swing the club right handed and have been frustrated with my golf swing for years. This swing came so naturally for me that it took 12 strokes off my golf game the first time I used it (92 to an 80). I’ll never try another swing again. You should have a million subscribers by now but the golf world hasn’t caught on yet. Thanks again and good luck to ya!

I found I was not loose enough and was not allowing my wrist to hinge freely. Realizing this and loosening up a bit made a huge difference in every way. Amazing to me how simple and repeatable this is.
I don't think I'm driving 300 yards but my distance with your swing is at least or not farther than my old swing with a fraction of the effort.

Hi Jim, thanks for the video. I’ve looked at it before I went to play 9 holes today. All I did while playing is what you always say, to stay still and preload on the left side. I shot even par, one birdie (chipped in), one bogey and pared the rest. I hit 7 out 7 fairways, 7 out of 9 greens and 16 putts. All that with a sore right knee, go figure! For those that want to improve give Jim’s teaching method a chance. I’ve been Jim’s student for about two years now and he changed my game for ever. Thanks Jim for your dedication to help golfers like me reach the next level. Paul

As a student I can attest that the method & lessons are great. It brings confidence to the golf course & throuout the round. No round is perfect but when a shot doesn't go as planned there is confidence knowing why it happened and the remedy for it.
Regarding the topic of this video, I get the results you described by focusing on making swings that maintains my balance. It does feel effortless, produces a nice ball flight with great distance and keeps me playing in the fairway. Its rewarding when your playing partners say you played great golf today.
The one con I do have is I thought I would be interacting with you during the lessons. Its the main reason I decided to subcribe to get more details than just these videos. The main page of your website says as much. However I got assigned to one of your instructors instead which is a total letdown. I only see you in the videos.
But the lessons are great and the golf game has improved so its still worth the $$$. I recommend it to anyone.

And I feel that it makes for more consistent golf.

I don’t follow JV’s methods but my best shots are when I let the club go behind me and then past me forward without my body following it either way. Of course I turn to the target on my follow through, but the ball is long gone by then If that makes any sense?

This is really important for this swing holding the weight still and springing your shoulder up in the back swing against your weight is key to doing this swing properly. im in the school and this is something that took me awhile to understand your create swing speed with this leverage not swinging your arms just hold your weight down hard as you can and spring your left arm straight as you can up against your weight. im hitting 7 iron 150 160 yards and 4 iron 180 to 190 not great but decent considering ive only played golf 2
2 months. if you don't hold the weight you lose the spring I highly recommend any one wanting to learn this swing join the school best decision I made

Jim Venetos I have watched several of your videos and I like what I am seeing. I have a bad left shoulder (dislocates ). Back a few years ago (06 or 07) I dislocated it, swinging a weighted club. Let me back up a little bit. The shoulder was first dislocated by a fall in 1990 on the job. I did not have it fixed at the time (I saw to many shoulder surgeries leave people with locked up or stiff shoulders. So I didn't have it fixed at the time. A year later it dislocated again just stepping out of a crane. Still didn't have it fixed. Many years have passed and many a miles have been put on this old body (disabled now). The shoulder has been out of place at least once every 6 months (it's no problem to put back in place). So I have to guard the shoulder in everything I do. Back when I was playing a lot, I played to a 9 handicap. I was a long ball hitter. 5 iron 200yds 4 iron was my 225 yd club. If the big stick left me I could always count on my irons.
A sever heatstroke in 09 took me out of the game of golf. Can't take the heat now at all. The last ball I hit on a course was in 2014 . I was still long of the tee with the driver, but couldn't hit my rear with both hands with the irons. I hit one good sandwedge shot from about 80 yds to about 2' and putted in for birdie.
If you don't mind, think on it, and see if you can come up with anything that could help get me back in the game
Thanks and keep coming out with the great videos

In Jim's method, he emphasizes using the lead shoulder as it is the axis of the swing.
If you use his method of stillness and don't sway and don't let the right arm dominate, your leading left should MIGHT be fine!?!
If not, maybe you should switch to a left handed swing as this may put less stress on you leading left shoulder.

Hello Jim, question regarding speed and setting the spring. I can get much more speed through the ball with your method, if I increase the speed of the backswing, but then just let the forward swing happen. I don't try to add speed, but if I do it's very late right at the ball. Does this increasing the speed of the backswing make sense to you?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding of your concept, has two parts,
One, When we turn our shoulders and torso it's like coiling and uncoiling,, creating , storing power, but there is also a lag for that power in the coil to unwind and transfer to the shaft, there is also two hinges almost, ,both left and right shoulders and even a third, the wrists,, were as your swing only uses one hinge, the Left shoulder hinge, it may allow the writs to add to the down swing too.
The power in the left hinge only has to travel from the shoulder.
2, the conventional swing relies on 2 and 3 hinges, L and R shoulders and the wrists to fling the club head.. A lot of sequences and moving parts to negotiate.. were as your single hinge swing has the highest point of the stable body frame, giving it the longest distance from the hinge to the club head, which also creates the speed for the club head.. That's my understanding,, putting all into practice is a little difficult, as I have to undo 30yrs of swing in one way, which has always been a right hand/arm dominate swing, due to left hand nerve damage.. and That would be the question I have for you,, would me using my right Hand/side hinge be a hindrance to a left side Hinge swing??

The pw story is flawed. Depending on the yardage the pw is such a versatile club that you should not be contacting every shot in the same place on the face. Trajectory, yardage and specific shot requirements can see impact move up and down a groove. Yes it is in same part of the face but it does vary. This swing is a good basic system and it can still grow from there. It is probably a good place to start if you do not use a swing system now. You can enhance any repeatable swing when you learn how to hand pass.

What I don't understand is why not take it a step further and preset the flat wrist by pushing hands forward at address and holding angle through backswing and follow through. Seems to be consistent if you keep at 45 degree angle? Just wondering...

Because that isn’t the way our anatomy works. I’ll explain briefly; our arms start in close to our body and extend away while creating an action; punching, throwing, swingingp. If I were to do as you suggest it would be like throwing a ball with your arm fully extended for the entire action. You could still throw the ball, probably very accurately but with significantly less power than if you allow your arms to extend away from your body during the action.

Right before I take my final address to the ball, I imagine my head is on a spike and it can't move. It helps with this style of swing and I hit the ball so much better now than the traditional swing I've struggled with for 25 years.
All of my clubs go further and have a more professional ball flight and action. I even use this swing with my driver and it goes probably 20 more yards.
My distances with traditional / Jim's swing
    D: 260 / 280
    2h: 220 / 240
    4i: 205 / 222
    5i: 193 / 210
    6i:181 / 196
    7i: 168 / 182
    8i: 156 / 171
    9i: 148 / 162
    P: 136 / 151
    50°: 112 / 125
    56°: 88 / 105
    60°: 76 / 85
I've been playing with forged blades forever and can work the ball like magic sometimes, but can't consistently hit it straight. Tempo, timing, speed all have to align perfectly for a traditional swing to work. With this swing, I just set up, stay still, and focus on my shoulder being the center point of the circle my arm travels in.
    Thanks, Jim!

He has a strong grip due to the setup and this results in "setting the club" earlier than a neutral or weak grip. Having said that: look at his simple takeaway that is aleady taken care for thanks to the setup, a mere rocking of the shoulders it seems. The arms and hands just follow. No twisting, no reaching or extending. That club head must go round in a perfect circle.

Anyone struggling hitting solid shoots, try this at your next range session. First, you know why it's easy to hit putts in the center of the putter? Answer, because you keep your head perfectly still throughout the entire putting motion. Do the same darn thing with ALL your clubs. Lite grip keep your head as still as possible and don't try to swing out of your shoes. It's really that easy. Watch the pros , they keep their heads still which keeps them balanced and keeps their spine in perfect alignment. Grab your cell phone and video yourself, from face on, putting and hitting full shots. Compare the video and watch for head movements side to side up and down.

I came to this video late but it has been a light bulb moment for me. It seems to me Jim is taking what two PGA players, Padraig Harrington and Larry Rinker, propose to its logical conclusion. Both point out that most (80 -85%) of power is generated from the arms, hands and wrists. They say all but the very top players should capitalize on that, rather than add the stress and complication with all the body movement of classical PGA teaching. I know Jim will argue that his simple set up and swing in fact is not only easier/more accurate but can also generate Tour Pro distance but then he is a far better golfer than me.

Weight forward fantastic... staying still over the ball equally as important... Hitting off your lead front isn't new many of us old baseball players advocated the front foot as the pivot foot. One last thing the importance of hitting down with all clubs (including the driver not as much down but not the lifting that is being promoted by the gurus of golf) especially remembering to hit down with the irons without lunging or forcing the club.

When you start down in the downswing, your right shoulder. moves down and slightly behind you. This move acts to move. the mass of your. upper. body away from the left side. with pressure felt toward the back foot..Because of this. unless you are very strong there will be a tendency to unweight your left side. This is why your method works for you ( (because you are very strong and your left side weight remains still ( "stillness") but for others it is almost impossible to do.
