Nice review as usual. The Gear VR is by far the number one mobile experience. Of course Daydream is still new, but the number of VR games and experiences on the Gear VR is incredible and growing fast. Developers are, definitely putting a big effort into the Samsung VR ecosystem.

Guys, all that's lacking is a 4K screen, which would make it really super! I'm hoping that somebody comes out with the 4K screen where we don't have to buy a whole new phone to get it, and it's just VR.

I recorded the footage using the built in recorder and copied the footage to my pc. for streaming video I used to be able to use Chromecast to stream for others but it does not compensate the dual images from the viewer. Best thing is to record and replay for friends
the big problem last year was a lack of resolution, it's still going to be very similar the same problem, VR needs 4 k badly and then start looking decent ....
I remember the Galaxy S7 cut the image off at far left and right (phone not long enough) . Is the horizontal width the same with both? (I have a note 4) Good God I hope they don't put that RIDICULOUS CURVED SCREEN on the Note 8! THAT is what is causing the light bleed on the S8...
I picked up the Gear VR (2017) for my Note 8. The quality is what's disturbing me. I've set my display resolution to its highest, adjusted the lens distance and even removed my Spigen neoplex screen guard. Is there something I'm not doing here? Any settings on the phone or the VR? I mentioned that if you have the old on you just need the controller, the old one from late 2016 is compatible with all the devices the new is as well. you cannot go wrong.
Can anyone share experiences with the '17 version? For s8+. Actually, my question is, is it worth it, will I be using it every day cause of how awesome it is? This latest gear VR has gone backwards it does not have the field of view that then 2016 model had. Look at the difference in size of the lense also. Massive disappointment how Samsung cannot be relied upon to ensure that when making a new model, everything must AT LEAST work as well as its predecessor.. Common sense right? They do this with their phones O/S software so called updates. After certain updates the phone, there have been areas where does not work like it's supposed to
I tested and have it now. It works great. Be sure that you can use gear vr 2016 with S8+ and charge your phone by gear vr 2016 Don't worry and just buy it
Got mine yesterday but had to return it as I noticed that when you look through them, there seems to be something on the far left of the view you get when you put on the Samsung Gear VR. The only way to describe it is to image a horse with blinkers. Remove the right blinker so now you only have the left one. Now imagine there is a mirror on the left blinker which reflects the centre image. I was seeing this and it ruined the whole VR experience. There should not be anything obscuring your left and right peripheral vision. Has anyone noticed this or was I just unlucky. Will try and buy it again and hope for the best.

TK Bay ok found after I commented your video... there are 3 versions of vr headset 323 324 325 323 support only upto s7 series phones 324 n 325 support s8 and later versions.. All of them support controller 324 n 325 has some minor feature differences...
Samsung Gear VR for the Galaxy S9 and note line next gen would be perfect if the controller had a companion controller with the toggle stick and a Halo of lights around each controller and the head case was able to read the controllers better than Windows new VR headset that is supposed to be a cheap little thing going down on price I also like that you can change the controller buttons be for Rapid Fire and stuff like that your fingers don't get tired

How do you record what you see on the gear vr? I've tried to mirror mine s7 edge by wifi direct, but when you plug the s7 on the gear vr the s7 stops sending image to the tv, and the tv kind of freeze at the samsung logo of the vr starting

I have played for over 45 minutes and no issues. As long as the ambient temp is not warm should be ok for an hour worth of usage at a time

Sorry no AR with the gear vr headset. The Note 8 and S8 have some AR apps that you can use in the camera but that is it for now.

normally I would say that the note 8 version should be good, it has space the S8 version might damage the top part and that is the weak point on the glass you know.

I clear the display completely. There is not a single speck of dust or a fingerprint.
Hikaro kun Clean the front and back lenses on the VR. It is easy to touch them.
Do you have screen protector ?? Try without it , as a test

not a real difference between them other than the S8 has light leaking from the device being smaller. but overall experience is the same

not much is lost since you don't use the entire screen for content, but you do get less light in from the sides like the S8 lets in

Look closer, it won't go all the way in, it sticks out about 5mm. It seems to go on full lock, but the device is tilted.
Iker Rivera I use the 2016 model with my S8+ and it fits perfect. I'm sure you need to check your sources.
