      I have had a peugeot 207 for nearly 7 years. Was a neglected example. The only electrical problem it has ever had is an airbag light, which goes out when you wiggle the wires under the seat. I reckon a peugeot 308 is a safer bet than a vw golf which would be a rot box at that age and full of niggling faults.

      @@user-fi5rm9wj2h yes I’m sure most people would agree it’s a step down from a French peasants pice of shit. It’s not an expensive Ford, they just use Ford window switches so that they, what’s the word, work. Which can’t be said for the Peugeot electronics. And yes some of the diesels were made by Peugeot, which is why they’re not very good. Fortunately I have the 3.0 V6 petrol that was originally designed by Porsche, which is why it is extremely good. Still, who am I to say that you’ve got a crap car, my apologies. Enjoy your Peugeot 207 😂

    As a British ex-Pat who has lived virtually all his adult life in Australia I never realised how detailed the M.O.T. was until I started watching your fantastic videos. In Australia we have a rego (registration) check which takes five minutes and seems to consist of checking your lights and indicators work, checking that the tyres aren’t bald and a quick spin to check the performance of the brakes. Literally takes five minutes at most!
    The M.O.T. seems so much better and picks up any potential future problems with the car that buyers can see a record of.

    • @person.X.
      @person.X. Год назад +3

      In WA we don't even have that. 😆 Nothing at all. It is only if something is so blatantly wrong with your car that the cops pull you over that it will be condemned as unroadworthy. I got my WA rego car serviced in the Northern Territory while on a road trip once and the mechanic asked me what the hell was up with WA cars as he had had to deal with Western Australians bringing in all sorts of death traps over the years.

      Depends where take a car for MOT. I've got two garages I use, one is a chain garage where they will pick a car apart looking for business, which is handy if I want a car really scrutinised. They find the faults, I fix em. Allegedly, my other garage is allegedly a one man band who would pass a burning Punto with no advisories if you need him to (allegedly). Very handy for getting a shit heap car from A to B to be worked on without a flatbed transport

    People rage on about how the 07 and early 08 models had shocking reliability, but had the majority of owners actually looked after their damned cars, Peugeot and Citroen wouldn't be the butt of so many jokes (particularly from people who swear by brands with even worse reliability records). As for this specific car, as usual it's not the cost of parts (usually cheap for French cars) but the labour in sorting things out; given it's had a cambelt change, it would be a shame if somebody wasn't to just put those issues right, though as it's a Euro 4 diesel, it'll be hounded out of clean air zones and possibly put to pasture.

    I had a 1.6 307 3dr 54 plate with 130k ish in 2020 for around 570 quid, and again did very little maintenance and it was great. Only got rid of it as I’ve had my wife’s Megane off her when she purchased a new car.

    I purchased a car just like on that condition,i would strongly ADVISE after a full proper valet & it's all dry out that you do use/spray with the proper Neutradol Super Fresh Odour Destroyer NOT THE CHEAP STUFF,spray in all the air vents,under the seats,under the boot carpet,in the boot itself & of course inside, Leave for at least 6 hrs & use 1/3 of the can. I repeated this process twice so the horrid smell went completely! Use a air freshener aerosol spray too,it'll get rid of that strong Neutradol that's left behind. The owner will eventually smell that horrid stink in no time & no normal air freshener will get rid of it 😆 I've been cleaning cars for a long time,no Magic tree air freshener is gonna hide the horrid hay bale stench. Worth £750 all day fella. Good video once again 👌

    Another great video. These old Peugeots do seem to last. Here in bungalow city, I see quite a few and the bodywork always seems decent. Just by the by I read a short article in the paper the other day. Written by a financial bod it was arguing that a new age of the banger may be upon us as cheap car finance deals disappear with rising interest rates with the other knock on effects such as bigger mortgage repayments similarly depressing demand for new and up market cars. A new golden age for the trade?

    Being Milton Keynes doesn't always signify rental. There are lots of head offices of motor manufacturers and finance compnaies there and they give their staff cars so they have cheap 6 month old vehicles on the road to sell. You will find lots or Mercs and VW Group that have gone through finance, or even the fleet stuff. Not always a bad move to be fair.

    The myth of French cars being unreliable is exactly that. I've got a 2015 308 with the infamous 1.6THP 'Prince' engine and it is an absolutely superb vehicle. Smooth, comfortable, reliable and a sense of luxury (with the panoramic roof, alcantara seating, massage function etc) for an affordable price. Bought it used for a great price, love it and will likely run it til it dies.

      The 1.4 and 1.6 diesel engine are junk long term. The turbo oil seals leak, the copper washer injector seals leak. Not easy to work on, plastic crap everywhere. They use those cheap plastic oil filters. A real diesel should do well over 180k miles without maintenence. But they are more or less paperweight after 10 years. Stick with 90's japanese cars that last 20-35 years.

    Brings back some memories, years ago I had a lot of 307’s then 308’s as rental cars through work. One 308 I remember, I was the first renter, it had about 20 miles on it when I collected it. I reversed out of the underground garage at work and tore the rubbing strip clean off the door….I tried to fix it back but had broken off most of the clips. It sort of looked ok until you slammed the door too hard, the the whole thing fell off. Dropped it off at the end of the rental out of hours, never heard another thing 😂

Oh great days. Its still on the road but has since got a gear box. These cars dont like multiple drivers.Very comfy brillant. Moved to toyota. But am returning to pug. In 2023.

    We bought a cheap 3008, it's not brilliant but it does what it's supposed to do, school runs, country lanes, shopping trips and wife's commute, the worst part of it is the oil dip stick, we do fairly regular oil changes and you just can't see the level on the stick, doesn't matter what angle you hold it to the light either, still, I generally leave it to the misses to check whilst I'm cleaning the Jag 😉
