- I dunno why these guys aren't on youtube much or why this song which made was one of their big hits isn't on here either but here it is, The Allen Brothers in their 1901 i think?? hit
i can listen to this a hundred times and it will stay awesome, forever
Thanks for posting that! Allen Brothers rule. I don't run into their records that often, and I only own one.
One of my VERY faves! Thanks!
This seems to be a slightly slower version of their first 78 from 1927 "Salty Dog Blues". Love this song and always get a kick when it is sung on The Andy Griffith Show.
a kazoo. totally cool
WOW....my Mom and Dad used to refer to this song from way back in their youth...so wonderful to actually hear it...as they used to dance to it, they said. Thanks for posting it..
@manidig Yeah no problem I've been wondering why not much of their stuff is on here..
An excellent song. I know and like their Skippin' and Flyin', but this one is at least just as good, if not better!
It is instantly recognizable as music tempo meant to appeal to students around middle school age ('one step older than Saturday morning'). That is not a negative comment however, just that it goes to show how little genres actually have changed over the years.
Depression era bubblegum-YEAH!!!
The original version that they did in 1927 with Columbia Records.
I'm a HUGE hillbilly music fan. I love the guitars, and the singing of the Allen Bros. But I just don't care for the kazoo.
This is the only band that does the kazoo right. It sounds like a stretched middle finger which fits the snotty attitude of the group.
Classic song-although the last verse might be consiered racist by today's standards
