Just added the Lost Daughter to my paper white. It sounds like the main character explores a lot of questions women have to face and I can’t wait to dive in and explore this one!
it is an incredible portrait of the type of woman society doesn’t really allow us to be without feeling so much shame or like we are wrong. the film adaptation by maggie gyllenhaal is very, very good 🖤
I am with you when it comes to reading about an artists practice. I become obsessed. Things I don’t want to know made me not turn my back completely on Deborah Levy.
What a great video! So many interesting thoughts! I’m also a fan of reading writers talking about their lives, their art. I‘m reading Ali Smith‘s Summer at the moment and At the bottom of the river by Jamaica Kincaid - very lyrical, very special.
i’ve yet to read any of the seasonal quarter but i think i’ll start with autumn when we get to the end of september 😌 and i’ll pop the jamaica kincaid on my list x
oh it's so nice to see someone reading antigone + fugard's play! they were both assigned for the freshman introductory englit course @ my university and by far they were some of the books that had the greatest impact on me in all my time there :') im new here not sure if you've already read sophocles' other plays, but i highly recommend his three theban plays!
those plays have stuck around for a reason!! so good. i read the other two of the theban plays in high school (antigone is for sure my favourite). as for other greek tragedies, medea is also incredible! 🖤
30 minutes of book talk? AMAZING.
i aim to please 🥰

i just wanna know how their minds work!!!! 🤍
I agree Funny Weather is the DREAM non fic book. Mega mega inspiring and something I’ll be coming back to for the rest of my time on this earth lol.
YES. like a guidebook for artists when they need an infusion of inspiration 🤍
Lyrical sentences sprinkled in between hyper realism - you said it so well! Most of my favorite writing is exactly this.
i need to get into debroah levy!!! loved hearing your thoughts on these reads :)
So exciting you have the other Levy’s to look forward to. I’m reading Real estate very slowly to savour it. Nice to see you😊🙏
i am very happy to have two more books to sink my teeth into from that series 🙏🏻 so glad you’re enjoying real estate! x

I read The Book of Mother by Violaine Huisman lately and would definitely recommend it. I think you would like it.
I’ll have to go look it up, I haven’t heard of this book! thank you for the recommendation ✨ x
I actually prefer the Penguin cover for the Deborah Levy. I am not a fan of the covers you prefer. But I think I'm in the minority here.
