True. For example, I have been complimented on my looks loads of times, but once, when I was 12 years old, a girl called me ugly, and it still effects my confidence to this day, 8 years later.

Absolutely, it's incredible really just how much our brain likes to focus on anything negative it can find. I still remember a girl saying I looked like a witch when I was 7!...But, whenever you find your confidence knocked, remember all those people that have complimented you and how much that out ways the few negative comments :)

It truly is baffling that we have to put that much effort just to acknowledge anything positive.

It helps me understand the incredible levels of negativity online that are just astonishing where everyone is so sure they are right about gloom and doom.
Even if you suggest that due to neuroscience we might be able to rewire this bias, people STILL are negative about that!

2:04 Negitivity Bias also causes people to forget positive events with their selective memory.😎😁😂

One thing that helped was hearing Jordan Peterson's comment along the lines of you have to acknowledge there is bad things and negativity and once you do that, you can strife to be better and build you character ...etc.

Hey, it really does doesn't it. Even knowing about the negativity bias helps us become more self aware of it and helps us recognise when it's governing our thoughts. We're about to launch a mental strength and wellbeing toolkit that helps with this, would you like to take a look before it launches?

I had interactions with 6 people today. 5 of them were lovely. Guess who my brain is dwelling on and threatening to ruin my day with.

Insightful explanation of the mechanism of negativity bias but the tips are less persuasive and helpful. Consider it in a long run you stick to these suggestions and grow to be someone who turn a blind eye on their problems. Btw, will it be positivity bias?
