Thanks Will! I really like the look of them and of course anything painted in that PS16 metallic blue looks great! I am hoping to get the bog one out for a run tomorrow before the rain comes in and the track get soaked again! It is finally just about right out there! The little guy may or may not make it around there, we will see!
It is pretty cool to have the trio all together. Not too often you can get 3 sizes of the same kit in your collection... it is a good thing too or I know a lot of us that would be in a lot of trouble!! LOL!
Not a problem at all and thank you for the cool stickers! I have the big on the board, a tiny one on my SCX2 and the other big one on my laptop. Take care and have a great rest of you week!
Nice shout-outs. For the Avantes I like the design of the star-unit. Would be great if they would do it in 1 by 10. With all the advantages of this size. Thanks for showing all cars. Fingers crossed for better weather.
Hi there Dirk! The mid-sized Star unit one is a pretty neat design and idea from them. I never knew they had made those until someone from the first video pointed it out to me so I had to get one! It is not very often at all you can have 3 sizes of the same car. They did a very good job making all 3 of them look the same. It is going to rain again this weekend so I have to get out before that happens. I don't want to spend hours cleaning another one up! LOL!

They save the pint and get rid o the annoying body rattle some kits have. Some are better than others but for a few bucks I never have to hear it again!

They looks super good in person, you can't really go wrong with the PS16 metallic blue though! Hope to get them out for a run before it rains again this weekend!
Triple Avante - how cool is that?!?!?!? I must say they look awesome together, I knew about the big and small kits, but not the medium sized one! Yeah, my DF02 is a little on the "saggy" side and in stock form the springs are too soft and under-damped. It bounces almost as much as a Hopper! I look forward to seeing how yours goes, your track is pretty smooth so I reckon it'll go well. Have a smashing day! 😎👍
Hey there Mark! I did not know about the mid-sized one until after I put out the first video of the two big ones showing up from japan. One of the viewers mentioned I should look into getting one and I had no idea they were a thing! It is really cool to have triplets of the same kit. I think the oil is going to have to be swapped out in the shocks to offer some more dampening as they do feel very soft and bouncy! I will give it a run stock and then make some adjustments to it. I am hoping to get out this afternoon after work and give it a try. I have to get it in now before the rains come back in this weekend. Take care my friend!
Yeah there are not too many kits where you are going to find 3 sizes of the same car! I did not even know they made the mid-sized one until fairly recently! All 3 kits total I only spent a little over $200 so that too was rather amazing I was able to do it so cheap! I am glad you enjoyed them. I hope to get out this afternoon and run the big one around the track, not sure if the mid sized one is going to make it around it or not but I will probably try!
I only recently found out about the Aero Avante, have to say I really like the body style on that. I'm not always a fan of the Tamiya body styles, but this one I'd happily put in my collection. Seems back in the day they weren't that popular, and like the Durga you can pick them up easily new from Japan but getting one here in the UK is near impossible. Nice video and love that you can get the three different sizes.
It is a space ship looking design so I know not everyone loves them but it is a pretty cool looking design honestly. I tend to like the odd a weird ones but of the ones I have like this I think more people liked this one the most so far. Being able to get it in 3 different sizes was super cool as well. I got lucky and the Star Unit version I found very cheap and then the little slot racer are always inexpensive. I am glad you liked it and it is a nice build as well so if you do end up picking one up you will enjoy it! Take care and have a great week!
Yeah, pretty much except I think it is going to be the biggest bear is going to be the one that is just right in the the lot! The baby one is just for decoration (although I get many more of these I am going to have to get a track). I am not sure what to expect from the middle one. I think it is going to be ok on a hard flat surface but suffer badly outdoors but we will see!
Thanks Dom! It is something different to have 3 sizes of the same buggy for sure! I did not even know the mid sized one existed until recently when one of the viewers informed in the first video of them. So of course that meant I needed to make this happen! LOL! They look cool all stacked up and of course look great in the PS16 metallic blue!
LOL! That would be cool but I am quite certain that is when my wife would have me committed! LOL! I Do like the Wild One buggy I seen being produced! Not a practical thing but it sure it cool!
Nice work all 3 look amazing very unique to have a trio collection like that love the blue and the way you did the canopy you should do more individual tutorials tips and trick and different techniques you use to achieve some of this it's amazing work Addam 👊
Thanks Mark! I love seeing them all together. It is not too often you can end up with 3 sizes of the same car! I am hoping this winter when the weather is gross to try and do some more stuff like that. It is supposed to be a cold wet one this year. We need the rain though so all good plus it gives me more time at the workbench to tinker! LOL!
I was going to ask about that actually I'm a real weather nerd I've got a feeling you guy's are going into what we just had two years of wet weather have you seen any unusual signs around your place like extreme amount of caterpillars on verandahs etc or trying to get into the house
@@rcuintheshed6981 Not yet, we had a very odd summer and I was battling tiny caterpillars invading my garage all summer. Like thousands of them crawled in there and died shortly after, I kept having to go out weekly for moths and sweep them all out! it turned cool all of a sudden too, it was hot for the longest time then the thermostat got turned down and it has been rather cool for the last 3 weeks. Normally we are invaded by the lady bugs by now and I have not seen any of them yet either.
You are definitely getting a very cold wet winter all the bugs are trying to get shelter from the rain not just the winter, my observations only from years of the farm the weather works roughly in 7 year cycle's you'll get 5 years of dry weather even moving towards drought then the drought breaks usually in January beginning of February end of summer for us followed by two years of solid rain over the 3rd year the rain drops off leading you back into the next 5 years of dry weather again we're in that 3rd year now rain has stop everything is overgrown and now dry ...... you'll be building lots of kit's not much run time even in my video's you can see how many days were cloudy and horrible over the last two years now they're crystal clear days again
Thanks Richard! They did turn out looking good. I think you could spray paint a turd with the PS16 metallic blue and it would look nice... well at least nicer! I would get a track for the small one if the track was as cheap as the cars are! LOL!
Thanks Jeremy! Not too often I will get a chance to have 3 sizes of the same kit out on display. I really need to get the Lunchbox on the SW01 chassis ordered as that is another one where I can have 3 different sized one. I found out that it too is part of the Star unit series as well, I think the rain is going to be a theme this fall and winter! Sounds like we are in for a wet/snowy season. I am fine with it as long as we see some snow this year, we got basically nothing last year! I know you are not ready for the snow, you get a lot more than we do down here!
The Golden Arrow was/is a great buggy! I know you are not alone as these were many people's first buggy as the bridged the gap from the cheaper toy store RCs and the more expensive hobby grade kits you had to build. I drooled over them at RadioShack many times as a kid!
Thanks! Not too often I am going to be able to score a small, medium and large version of the same car in the collection! They turned out looking good!
Thanks! I had to do it once I found out they made the mid-sized one! It is too cool to have 3 versions of the same kit in the collection! I am glad it is not a common thing as I do not need 3 of everything LOL!! Take care!
What a cool collection!! Got to love a curvy body 😂 . Great work I'm surprised they use metal dog bones and plastic drive cups 😮 . You should convert the little one to RC😏 😊
Thanks Fonzie! I do love a curvy body! These were interesting to cut out as using the hobby knife was hard due to all the steps in and out on the body and you had to be careful with the body scissors to not scratch anything around the curves and such. A little patience and they turned out great looking. The mixing the plastic outdrives and drive axles with the steel dog bones is something I have not run across until now. They should hold up as good as the ones on the TT02 or TT02B I assume as the pins on those driveshafts are steel too. Not that this is going to become the daily driver kit of them all! I have seen some folks take the shells off of the little ones and retro fit them to micro RCs. One of these days maybe but I guess I need to do it before the eyes and fingers won't be able to! LOL! Hopefully that is a good ways off...
Thanks! It was cool to complete the trio of them. It is not too often you are able to get 3 sizes of the same kit! I need to get the run videos made this week as it is going to rain again this weekend.
What a superb looking trio Addam!! You do realise that you are getting yourself lured into a rather large rabbit hole here don't you?? 🤔 There's no way you will want to stop at one trio trust me...... You will now be wanting to do this with other models to! 🤣 A real cool display piece there mate, great job. 👍 👍 👍
Thank fully there it not too many where they made more than two, the full sized and the slot car. The Lunch box is about the only other one I have seen where I need to get the third, mid-sized one. They did another midsized buggy on this chassis called the lightning hawk but that one seemed to be much more popular and is very hard to find at a reasonable price. The other Star unit kits I have seen are the Lunch Box and Mud Master on the SW01 chassis and then the Dual Rider and Dancing Rider trikes. I would like to get one of the trike and I do need to get one of the little Lunchies but I think this triple decker is going to be one of the few! I am going to work on the display this weekend and hopefully get that done without much fuss! I have a plan B if the first one doesn't go as expected!
@@AddamsPlayground Ah sweet.... that shouldn't be too much of a problem then mate! I've seen the lunchbox one, but non of those others you mention. Look forward to seeing the finished display of the first triple decker anyway fella! 👍 👍 👍
Hi Addam, a great trio of Avante’s 😊😊you’ve done a great job on the 1/12 Avante and the 1/10 Avante. Interesting how the DF-02 has design cues from other Tamiya chassis. 😊😊 I’m thinking of getting a Tamiya 1/10 4WD buggy, believe it or not, I don’t have a Tamiya 4WD buggy in my collection 😂😊 I was thinking of the TT-0B, as it’s a budget buggy 😊😊 nice tip with body foam pads, to protect your pride and joy 😊best wishes to you and the family 😊
Thanks John! It is super cool to have 3 different sizes of the kit and it should look pretty cool once I get the display stand built for them. I have a couple ideas for it so I am hoping one of them works out! LOL! The TT02 buggy it a great one but be aware they are kind of doggish in tall grass. That low flat belly drags and bogs them down. They are really fin one on the dirt and you can also slap on a set of on-road tires and really rip it around out in front of the house! Those little foam pads are great and both gets rid of that obnoxious body rattle and also save the paint from getting messed up. Most of us spend a lot of time getting them looking nice and it would be a shame to see the paint getting scraped and worn away by a body clip under the shell! Take care my friend and wish you well also!
I have an idea for it, well actually two or three! The main one should look cool if I can pull it off and the the other two are plan B & C if the first does not pan out! I am hoping to get it done tomorrow while it is all rainy and wet out. Thanks for checking the other channels out, I know they appreciate it! Take care Al!
G'day mate! They look so good!!, what a great addition Addam👌. Thanks for doing such a detailed video, it was really interesting. We were thinking the same "How do you display them?" we were thinking stacked on a transparent perspex stand or something...bet you come up with something great. Always love listening to your interesting rambling mate😁please keep it coming lol. We wish you a fantastic week Addam👍🦘🇦🇺
Hi there Wayne & Ingrid! Hope you two are doing well! I love how nice they turned out and it really looks coo it them all together! It is not too often you are able to add 3 sizes of one kit into the collection! Of course anything painted in the PS16 metallic blue automatically seems to look good! LOL! I have a couple ideas for a display stand for them. I will be working on that this weekend while it all rainy again. If the first idea does not pan out I have a plan B just in case! Glad you enjoyed the video and always good to talk to you. Take care and have a great week as well!
@@AddamsPlayground Yessss PS16 is one of our favourite's😁. Just think Addam... The nice rainy weather will force you to slow down and relax a bit lol. We can't wait to see your stand mate!. All the best from us 2 knuckle heads👍😊
Nice looking cars. I have never built a DF-02 chassis, but I have built a couple of TT-02Bs and it looks similar. I like the Aero Avante body style, some people get worked up because it is not a “real” Avante, but whatever. I still have an Avante ( Black Edition) still in the box, I almost don’t want to build it because it looks so awesome in the box (yes, I know I am weird). I look forward to seeing yours on the track.
Hi Steven! There are some similar traits between the two. This has a better suspension set up and a little more ground clearance but I expect it to perform about the same. I rarely get worked up about the names of them and these don't bother me in the least. I think the only one that got under my skin is the Hotshot2 BHM as they changed the roof of it from the original (and were lazy about the livery). I am more satisfied not that I made the NotShot out of it and they just announce(finally) they are going to release the OG Hotshot 2!
It is pretty neat to have 3 different sizes of the same buggy! Not too many you can do that with unless you start custom making things! They are unique looking ones and I think that is part of the charm for me is the odd aero styling. Definitely not your traditional race buggy look for sure! Question is do you like it better than the Saint Dragon!?!? LOL!
LOL! I am not sure that is what they were going for but that is certainly what happened! I do have a few of the slot cars along with the full sized but this mid sized is one of the few they did. I am sure the plan was to lure the slot car kids into the RC world as they got older. Now, your idea is more likely!
Addam, I’m an old Tamiya head, but got bitten by the mini crawler bug earlier this year and haven’t looked back. You should give it a try, lots of capable small rigs out there with plenty of aftermarket support to boot. Just sayin’
I have a couple here. I have an SCX24, a TRX4M, a WPL truck and a off brand D90. They are fun every now and then but not something I gravitate towards as much anymore. I really loved the SCX24 when I got it and I have really changed it from the Jeep it started out as. I actually just got done with the hardbody for it not too long ago, I used some MCI decals to liven it up some but have not taken it out for a drive yet. Maybe soon I will get the little guys out for a run in the woods, it is almost that time of year where I don't have to worry about the danger noodles hiding out in the rock and leaves out there!
It is pretty cool, I never thought I would have a trio of the same kit like this. I am kind of glad there are not too many out there like this as buying 3 of everything would get expensive!! LOL!!
It is along those lines to where it is a simpler version of the real one and designed to run on AA batteries. I am running this one on a small 2s pack so it should be a little more peppy than stock. I just need to mount the tiny ESC and find my baby 2s battery!
Hey there nick! It has been a minute, I hope all is well and you have just been busy! I try to keep up but there are just too many videos, I can never watch them all! These are a neat trio and one I was not expecting to get but I was made aware of the mid-sized on after I made the first video of the full sized on and then I found that on eBay cheap so I got that and had to get the little slot car to go along with them! Best thing is I was able to get all three together for less than many other buggy kits out right now so a cool trio on the cheap! Take care Nick and have a great rest of your week!
The cars look great. It will be interesting to see the bigger one on the track. I am trying to figure out how the medium size one would be used. May be the race them in Japan.
Hey there Michael! I plan on getting out there after work tomorrow and getting the big one out for a run. I am not sure the mid sized one will make it around there our not! I think the mid sized was mainly pushed in areas where the slot cars are huge and it was their way of trying to lure the slot car kids into full sized RCs by making a less expensive and more familiar kit as a jumping off point. It is a hard sell to go from a $15-20 slot car to a $150-250 RC plus have to have all the batteries and chargers for it. This allowed them to get a less expensive kit and a cheap radio system and be good to go. They were designed to run off of AA batteries so the slot car racers already were accustom to buying those. I don't think they did super well considering I have never heard of it until very recently but then again I am nowhere near the slot car scene! LOL!
It seems you are a landscape painting man and you don't like rc and overall the Lunch Box. Oh Man! How many are you assembling! This is great, nice to see and learn. Keep on going and Ciao!!
LOL! yeas I have been a little busy building with all of these! I have a hard time pacing myself and building them over a period of time. I get so involved in the process I sit down and then next thing I know it is built! Speaking of the Lunchbox, it is another one that i can have 3 different sizes of them. I have the big one (a couple of them) and I have the tiny one but I do need to still get the mid-sized one on the SW01 chassis which I found out is also one of the Star Unit series!
That 1/10th one looks like a pretty cool design! Have to say it's the only one of the three that really interests me but very cool that you have all three. Some great shout outs too...I've just subscribed! So as to the car...they're just pogo sticks correct? Seems like a car that should have come with oil filled shocks standard.
Yeah the full sized one was all I was interested in but then someone pointed out they made a mid sized RC one that looked like the mini. So I had to go check it out and found one rather cheap so I was too interested to not get it and then I had to go ahead and get the mini one too! Thanks for swinging by and checking out the other channels, I know they appreciate it. The big one does have oil dampers and I built them per the instructions but they are very soft and squishy feeling. It could use some thicker oil in there. I just ran it this afternoon and it did well enough on the track but bounced a lot in the yard. I will toss in some thicker oil and that should help slow thing down some. The mid sized one it just springs, no dampening at all. It is like the Grasshopper front shocks all the way around. Take care Freddy!
It is cool to have it in 3 different sizes! I currently don't have them displayed together but I really should make something for them to share the same space.
It is a cute little thing isn't it? I think it was a cool idea to make something to bridge the gap between the very inexpensive slot cars and the much more expensive full sized RC cars. I was hoping to find some more of them but not too many styles were made. The Lunchbox on the sw01 chassis and the Dancing/Dual riders were considered in the start unit lineup and the only other one I have seen is the Lightning hawk on this same chassis. That one looks very cool and has off road tires on it. I still think it will be awful in anything more than a baseball field for off road running!
Yes they are! My budget friendly car stands work well. I get them from Amazon in 2 packs and then I cut them in half or into thirds on my bandsaw. So I can get 4-6 stands for about $15 usually! Even if you don't cut them down 2 for $15 is about as cheap as you are going to find something for. I started out using old tires and the ended up needing more than I had tires so I played around with a few different things and settled on this.
Thanks, it is pretty cool to have a trio of the same car! I am not sure what to expect from the mid sized one. It seemed fast enough when test the gear box with the trust old AA battery but it may be gutless once on the ground! Not sure yet. I hope to get the ESC sorted soon and then I can work on that part of the run video. Take care Pete!
Great Shout outs Addam and all the builds came out awesome

I tend to like the odd a weird ones but of the ones I have like this I think more people liked this one the most so far. Being able to get it in 3 different sizes was super cool as well. I got lucky and the Star Unit version I found very cheap and then the little slot racer are always inexpensive. I am glad you liked it and it is a nice build as well so if you do end up picking one up you will enjoy it! Take care and have a great week!
When seeing the 3 cars in the thumbnail why did I automatically think of the 3 bears? Lol.
Sweet cars Bud.
Great job 👍.
Yeah, pretty much except I think it is going to be the biggest bear is going to be the one that is just right in the the lot! The baby one is just for decoration (although I get many more of these I am going to have to get a track). I am not sure what to expect from the middle one. I think it is going to be ok on a hard flat surface but suffer badly outdoors but we will see!
great work . a trilogy of buggies . i’ve never seen these before . very nice 😊👍
Thanks Dom! It is something different to have 3 sizes of the same buggy for sure! I did not even know the mid sized one existed until recently when one of the viewers informed in the first video of them. So of course that meant I needed to make this happen! LOL! They look cool all stacked up and of course look great in the PS16 metallic blue!
Good to the the Aero Avante get some big love. Now all you need is to build the life sized version like the one made by Tamiya.😁👍
LOL! That would be cool but I am quite certain that is when my wife would have me committed! LOL! I Do like the Wild One buggy I seen being produced! Not a practical thing but it sure it cool!
@@AddamsPlayground Oh yes.. that full scale Wild One is the ultimate big boys toy!🙌
They look awsome 👍 you’ll be getting a track for the little one soon 😁
Thanks Richard! They did turn out looking good. I think you could spray paint a turd with the PS16 metallic blue and it would look nice... well at least nicer! I would get a track for the small one if the track was as cheap as the cars are! LOL!
They look great Addam, a real nice trio there!👍😊
Been stuck in a rain pattern here as well.😩
Thanks Jeremy! Not too often I will get a chance to have 3 sizes of the same kit out on display. I really need to get the Lunchbox on the SW01 chassis ordered as that is another one where I can have 3 different sized one. I found out that it too is part of the Star unit series as well,
I think the rain is going to be a theme this fall and winter! Sounds like we are in for a wet/snowy season. I am fine with it as long as we see some snow this year, we got basically nothing last year! I know you are not ready for the snow, you get a lot more than we do down here!
Man my first RC was a golden arrow!
The Golden Arrow was/is a great buggy! I know you are not alone as these were many people's first buggy as the bridged the gap from the cheaper toy store RCs and the more expensive hobby grade kits you had to build. I drooled over them at RadioShack many times as a kid!
Very cool!!
Thanks! Not too often I am going to be able to score a small, medium and large version of the same car in the collection! They turned out looking good!
i like your style addam awesome trio and another ace video as always 😉
@@AddamsPlayground lol 🤣 you will be fine 😁 I'm sure 😁 definitely awsome work as expected from you !! 😎 Have a great day
very nice rc's dude 👍👍😀😀
There's no way you will want to stop at one trio trust me......
You will now be wanting to do this with other models to! 🤣
A real cool display piece there mate, great job.
@@AddamsPlayground
Ah sweet.... that shouldn't be too much of a problem then mate!
Addam, you have to find something like a winners platform to put all three on. Going to checkout the two channels. Take care.💥💥💥👍
@@AddamsPlayground
Yessss PS16 is one of our favourite's😁.
Cool! Got one in every size! That small one would make for a cool slot car! They are weird looking cars I must say.
LOL!
Still better than the saint dragon!😁😁@@AddamsPlayground
Very clever marketing from Tamiya. "Well, I have that one, so it I get that one I might as well have that one for the set!"
Hey mate 👋 great video 😁
Thanks Mark! I like the look of them and I love that metallic blue color! It is cool to have 3 sizes of the same buggy! Glad you enjoy it!
They look great. Making a "series" like that is fun, isn't it?
It is pretty cool, I never thought I would have a trio of the same kit like this. I am kind of glad there are not too many out there like this as buying 3 of everything would get expensive!! LOL!!
These are cool. The mid size one reminds me of the qd cars. I might have to get one.
It is along those lines to where it is a simpler version of the real one and designed to run on AA batteries. I am running this one on a small 2s pack so it should be a little more peppy than stock. I just need to mount the tiny ESC and find my baby 2s battery!
Cool stuff Addam. Been a while brother. But I am catching up clowly. Nice work on these bud. :)
I love that you have all three of these how did you display them
It is cool to have it in 3 different sizes! I currently don't have them displayed together but I really should make something for them to share the same space.
I do fancy the star unit one
It is a cute little thing isn't it? I think it was a cool idea to make something to bridge the gap between the very inexpensive slot cars and the much more expensive full sized RC cars. I was hoping to find some more of them but not too many styles were made. The Lunchbox on the sw01 chassis and the Dancing/Dual riders were considered in the start unit lineup and the only other one I have seen is the Lightning hawk on this same chassis. That one looks very cool and has off road tires on it. I still think it will be awful in anything more than a baseball field for off road running!
@@AddamsPlayground I might end up getting one. When you run it any chance of a close up under the shell curious to see more of what it is like
@@martinhsrc6699 sure thing! I can add some up close shots into the run video.
@@AddamsPlayground thank you
Are those yoga blocks for car stands? Very neat.
Nice trio Addam 😊😊 be inertesting to see the middle size one run indoor and the normal on track 😊😊 😃🥇Pete
