Money Son! That did the trick. Did not want to buy new gussets. I used a ratcheting wood clamp instead of my welders clamp/vicegrips and an 8mm socket instead of the screw driver. Thanks👍🏾
Thanks Trey. I'm gonna check this out tonight. I see people putting strips into the door rubbers, but this guide being shaped correctly should solve the problem the correct way.
I was able to bend it without taking off the mirror right before I took a 12 hour trip. It is way better! The wind noise is 75% better. You just got to make sure you get the metal with the welding clamps. Thanks again for this video. Would have never been able to fix this problem without seeing this.
It really helped that you did not edited the video and went through the whole process on camera, thank you
You are welcome thank you

Thank you for the comment. It is still working well with my wife's sub
Thank you Sir for this informational video, because of this you have save me 140 dollars and for that you get my appreciation. Keep up the good work!
Glad it helped
Thank you for the help. It worked
Have you found this to be a fairly permanent fix? I will be inheriting an '06 Forester and am hoping to not have to replace the gussets. Thank you
pip_dog so far so 👍 been about 3 months now. just can,t shut the doors using your window
I see you have a crack on top of your gusset as well like me. Does that tear, affect the noise as well?
When we had the car I don't recall but I don't think it made any difference.
Nice tutorial. Where did you get those vice grips? Seem fancy
I got them from Harbor Freight tools they are for holding metal for welding
Can you bend the gusset without taking off the mirror? Thanks for this great video.
I don't think so because the mirror is hard plastic on the outside and you have to get it off so you can bend it through the soft rubber.

Good to know!
Is this still working. Good fix?
well it was still working about 2 months ago. we sold the car but it should be fine as long as you don't shut the door by pushing the window.
It works perfectly! Thank you!
Great! Not too hard to do!
Bless You Mate : )
Thanks! Your welcome
Awesome Mike!
try a JIS screwdriver, not phillips.
Makes sense Japanese screw with a Japanese screwdriver
Trey Sharpton also an 8mm socket works?
