Engine is my favourite furniture 😘
This was really cool! Good food for thought. Thanks for sharing Derek
@Jared Owen Nice to see you here!
Thanks Jared!
Such a cool look! Added to my reference library. Thank you for this Derek, much appreciated.
Aaand another interesting, informative and fun tutorial! I love your work 👏
I watched a lot of tutorials, but this video was the most helpful and helped me get my final result. Thanks very much!
Once again, you deliver. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the community. Every lesson is a gem.
Thanks Craig
I was looking for an engine tutorial and then I found this bit of happy happy joy joy. Loving it. Thank you.
thank you for this tutorial, now I can do it in Blender which I used to see on Discovery channel about planes or some weapons
Haha yes they love to use it in that type of scenario!
Amazing Tutorial! I learned a lot and I will definitely be referring back to this for future use!
So cool! Looks amazing!!
YESSSS, the king is back!!!!🔥🔥🔥
Nice lighting too!
This looks great!
Nice tutorial Derek, thank you so much 🙏
Muy bueno! excelente el resultado. Gracias por tu aporte!
Thank you Derek, amazing work, much appreciated!
Tried this with a vehicle and I found the scanlines curving up a little on the hood, or other flat gentle curing surfaces. To get a pretty brutal flat to camera scanline effect, change the mapping type to normal.
Damn, that was just amazing, literally jaw-dropping. Keep up with these tutorials man, you are awesome!
Amazing tutorial! Thank you for the effort and work you put in to share your knowlegde. I love this kind of green wireframe style, because i am trying to do this on my old commodore plus/4 too.
Awesome tutorial, I really appreciate this one!
That's a good one !. Many thanks for that tutorial ! Really enjoy it !
Thank you again for these amazing tutorials!
you really do motivate me man thanks!
Followed along with the video. Thanks for this! Fantastic as always

Thankyou so much. Just love your teaching style.
Beautiful - the power of blender never ceases to amaze me.
Yes it's amazing
Beautiful! Always love your tutorial style
Thenk you Erindale ♥️
This is awesome and will be fantastic for work I'm doing. I love the holographic look!
I'm glad I found your channel. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge to help others learning 3D!
I hope you have a great rest of your week my friend! :)
Thanks mate!
Thank you for your tutorials !
Amazing tutorial as always,
Thank you very much for this tutorial!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
when RUclips notified me, that there is a new vídeo from derrk channel available, i knew that i'll have a great day inspire on his tutorial. Man, thanks!!
No problem thanks for watching
Nice approach!!!
Truly the Bob Ross of Blender. :D
Wow, i've been looking for that about 2 month) thank you)
Thank you Derek
This is excellent, thank you!
Wooow that was impressive
Woow! perfect work. Thank you sir.
Awesome, thanks! Putting the whole node tree up front is also appreciated!
neat, I like how simple that is and I learned what a fresnel factor is. I think I prefer linking the wave vector to whatever orientation the "holo emitter" would produce, like when you project a holo, align the wave texture with the "scan lines" of that device, I am going to try that out for sure
Yeah I played with both options and either can work nicely
LOVE THE COMMENTARY amazing work! really appreciate it
Of course thanks for watching
Fire like always sir!
Thanks man!
Noice Derek 😁😁
woot woot this is sweet
Soooo cool!
Future 3d animator💪
Very helpful thanks
really fun , thanks for sharing
Of course
So great. Thank you Derek
Thank you Martin
@@DerekElliott I'm looking for a mentor like you
Good job.
I haven't touched a modelling program in over a year yet I always find myself watching these videos.
Thanks for watching them
Love your work and how simple these tuts are! New sub here! hope to see more dope stuff on my feed! :D
Welcome to the party Jimmy
excellent
Nice video. I made a video a while ago with almost the exact setup.
tnx
nice!
wow thx!!!!!!
Cool!!!!!!
So coool
the best
This makes me think of a podracer engine from Star Wars!!
Very much like that!
Thanks for sharing! Dropped a like! Iv been trying to build a shader that has X-ray/ heat vision shader that’s revealed by a transmission node so it can have the original texture. If you have any pointers let me know either way I look forward to more of your videos.
Not quite so sure about that one
Its furniture friday! you're very lucky that I sleep in an aircraft boneyard in the year 2119
"This shader is quite simple", got me dying
Rip
Great tutorial!
Something that seems obvious but it needs to be said, is that Eevee does not render light from emissive objects. So if you guys plan on using Eevee for this, you might have to add some lights to the scene to fake the emission.
At first glance I thought "hey, he's wrong, my objects are glowing just fine" but then I realized that no light from those objects was showing up on the plane under them, so yeah "he's right".
@@bill392 hahaha ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Good point sorry I didn't mention that
Ooooohhhhh my gaaaawd!
Nice
btw I remember this kind of turbines sitting next to me during my college exercises :)
thank you for tutorial! could you please explain what did happen at 1:17-1:19? rip failed? how segments became twisted?
Good 1
Lol that cut 1:15 😂
tHIS lOOKS dOPE!
holy cow- now i'll be tony stark ya?
Heh. Accidently creates a *working* warp drive.
Thanks for this.
Hi Derek, and thank you for the endless tutorials that you're giving us, they're really helping me improving my skills. Anyway, could you please tell me the name of the "node master" you mentioned at the beginning of this tutorial? Sounded like "Aron Dale", but I couldn't find anything on the whole web/artstation.
Erindale
Yes Erindale
@@DerekElliott Thank you, I wasn't watching the video, I was just listening
👍👍👍
This is a great tutorial thank you so much how can we use this render in stock footage what render passes we need or just a png render sequence?
Sorry I'm not sure I understand. Sounds like it would depend on your specific application a lot
1:19 how you deselect those edges?
круто конечно, но как я понял лишнего процентов 80 в видео) помучился я знатно)) но теперь могу делать фигуры разные!
👌👏👏👏👏👏
your intuition for just whipping things up like this is incredible. Was this engine the first go or did you start over somewhere in the process? :D
This was the one and only go! The shader did get revisited a few times before I decided what was the best balance of simple and good looking. The thumbnail shader is even tweaked a little more
Man, i wish this video is like half year ago.
Took me 3 attempts and my final shader is much more complicated than yours...
But still, cool shader man.
have you created yourself a hoograhic shader or you have downloaded from somhere else sir?
Watch the video for the process
Great tutorial! Can you link to the node master you mentioned at 0:59? thanks
Erindale
@@neilmarshall5087 thanks
@@utopicc Lol - how did you miss the large text on screen telling you his name.
@@neilmarshall5087 haha no idea :) just missed it, sorry if its blasphemy of some sort
I have a question, whenever I tried to “rip edge”, I got a little popup thing by my cursor that sayed “Rip Failed” I don’t know why I keep getting this message? Is it because I am using 3.3.0 and he is using 3.0.0? Or did I miss a step? This happened at 1:19 in the video while making the engine.
ya know what I always seem to have issues ripping things too. Not positive what causes that
helping to the algorithm with comment
Ayeeee
You could have done that in 10 minutes. ;)
Thanks, Elliott. I really appreciate your tutorials.
😊
