Oh thanks @RevorecRecruitementSolutions, I think you,re the first one to reply….I will definitely check those sites out tomorrow. I have tried the entitledto site, two different advisors at the Welfare rights dept and the Leeds Council Housing officer that’s actually dealing with my case so far and had 4 completely different responses from them!!! I,m just worried once I get put on UC there will be no going back. Nobody will take any responsibility for what will happen. Thanks a lot, love.
Very informative video as someone whos on universal credit for years this is what they dont tell you , they cause stress and anxiety , it can be taken away instantly and you can be forced to go on the work programme and you have to deal with advisors who are almost useless and will make it harder to keep your benifit.
I was suicidal, literally had to stop going into the job centre and told them to end it, I'm living off savings and don't even pay NI contributions, luckily I can live with my parents but they won't be here forever, I feel genuinely a lot better since stopping going in, job centres feel like a prison, it's a horrible nasty environment where bullying and verbal abuse has been normalised by DWP staff and managers. I was forced onto the original work programme and guess what? there was no job at the end of it 9-5 searching for crappy jobs all day, worst 3 months of my entire life, I still occassionally have nightmares and night sweats about the experience, I had things stolen from me from other people fresh out of prison on the same course, and was mocked for not making enough eye contact by advisors there in some mock interviews they did, it didn't give me confidence at all, just destroyed me mentally.
@@tyremanguitars Crappy jobs? what do you want, 50k office job? you get what you deserve. No skills = crappy job. This is reality. Simple market rules of supply and demand.
Been on UC since the start of this pandemic, I was forced on to this because of the industry I work in. NOT ONCE have I been paid £409.19. bear in mind I did not get a single payment for 6 months.
Id love to say something thatd help or be constructively positive but sadly im not surprised and I just wish you all the best and that things will improve for you asap.
I remember Universal Credit...........that was a fucking miserable time of my life............I had to sell things on Ebay that I didnt have to sell (I hope those people got their money back)........and even turn to other less than legal activities just to survive the 2 months I had ZERO income for.
Universal Credit has been an absolute disaster wherever it has been trialed and cost more money to run than it takes in. It is there to force people into work and not worry about whether the work is suitable for them or not. They sanction people for the most trivial of reasons. You have to wait 5 weeks to receive any money, pushing people into abject poverty, or you can apply for an advance (which you have to pay back) and end up not being able to make ends meets. This shit has failed in every category it was allegedly meant to meet, but this apology for a government still persist with it.
For some ppl it's great. My neighbour works at Asda and they really struggle to persuade people to train up as supervisors. Why? Because it's a full time job and people say "'No thanks. I get a better deal than what you're offering by working 16 hrs plus universal credit." So basically they're earning MORE than their supervisors are, for doing a lot less work.
I'm single no kids and live in a council flat I have been on what they call the UC light touch regime since march 2019 I work on a zero contact and long as I earn £338 or more a month I do not have to attend job centre appointments and no mandatory work search anyone else doing the samething
What makes me laugh i lost my job through virus had to go on UC and i have a job coach that hounds me to look for work! We are in lockdown but i still have to look for job and also encouraged to get public transport even using 4 buses a day, when government has said to stay at home 🤔
@@JulianBVeel I'm surprised they haven't stopped your money,? As they class the phone appointments as meetings? And tells you if you are not there for phone call they can sanction you.
@Victorian Theatre Its every 2 weeks they ring my couch rang this morning. And she can't understand why i can't find a job! Hello??? We are in lockdown hardly any jobs hundreds chasing 1 job 😩she going get a company to look at my CV see if they can give me some tips wow can't wait! Plus I'm almost 60 so its not going to be easy. Yet people on Furlough sitting on backsides getting paid off government no hassle.
@Victorian Theatre My son is disabled and can't talk on phone so we have to talk on his behalf so know how you feel. At end of day they follow instructions and they make no allowances. Lockdowns, no jobs, age, and your health.
I'm 17 and 18 next month I tried to claim my universal credit just now so I would have it on my 18th birthday but apparently I have to wait till my 18th to make a claim then the process will take 5 weeks till I get my first payment so I'm skint till November it's a bloody joke. Quite happy to give it to people who have never worked in there life but then when work stops due to a pandemic I can't get money.
Hello Milton, let me help you out with an opportunity to make daily money, how would you like to learn how to make extra money daily, by buying and selling bitcoin
I don’t know how I’m meant to look for work when I don’t have access to anything. I don’t have a computer, or proper internet at home! I can’t access my cv. I can’t afford to top up my phone too often so making outgoing phone calls is a struggle too. Then there’s the fact I don’t actually know what to do in an interview. Then there’s the side problem of depression/anxiety/panic attacks I get in stressful situations (which the job centre is on the top of that list) I want a part time job but need one on one help and get none. Oh and I’ve no references which means that part of the application form is always blank
Sounds tough. If you can comment on watch on youtube then the internet you have will do. The job id recommend is amazon at the warehouse because they call you, theyll say come to the local amazon warehouse at x tine and as long as you turn up the jobs yours. But if you dont live near an amazon depot simply apply to similar warehouse competitor companies as their process is the same. No interview, no cv interest, no problem.
I work for my self but i am not classed as self employed, and i earn about £300 a month as somethings im building, i noticed income support is no longer a thing, and universal credit tells me i have to agree to search for a job to be paid. However that would mean if i got the job i would have to give up on my own thing. (RUclips) Any advice for support during growing?
Firstly good luck with trying to grow your channel. As for the UC income the problem you have is that in their eyes, if you want UC money which is effectively tax payer funds, then they want to see evidence you're not trying to do everything you can not to need it for long. Whilst your intentions are legitimate, in essence you are asking for taxpayer money to try to grow your own business. That's not seen as something UC want to be funding. My best advice would be that you'll be better served taking an evening or part time job as you're going to get hounded by UC otherwise.
@revorcecRS why do they keep changing uc? That must mean the goverment are never happy with it? Or its an evil ploy to make people suffer. All there doing is moving the goal posts every time they get fed up, its like a sick twisted game
Universal Credit monthly calculations are flawed as in the old system benefits were paid every two weeks, some months have 5 weeks. Payments cannot be the same amount every month due to there being months with 31 days not 30 even taking into account February shortfalls people will lose money. Payment calculation should be based on days per month only.
Correct Legacy benefits paid weekly 52 payments a year U/C paid monthly up to a max of 12 payments a year Four weeks in a month 12 x 4 = 48 weeks Four weeks short every year Same applies to housing benefit Also people on UC must pay a percentage of council tax This wasn't the case with legacy benefits One of the factors why poll tax was scrapped Being the fact the unemployed could not afford to pay it A single person on U/C gets the same amount as a single person on ESA The benefit of pushing people on to ESA is it makes the unemployment figures look better As only those signing on are counted as unemployed Those on ESA on the whole are exempt from signing on
When you ring them there is a huge board on the wall and it says 768 calls waitng ,they have to get rid off your call as soon as possible .If they some one will call you back that will never happen , if they say a payment will be in your bank by 5pm that will never happen. They have to close you down ,To move onto the next call . TRUST ME IVE BEEN IN THERE AS AN ENGINEER AND SEEN IT COUNTING DOWN .Then at 6pm its closed and they all throw there head sets off and go home . and tomorrow its the same again .
Can you please explain if claimants wait 5 weeks (4 weeks of assessment, 1 week to process the payment) then why don't claimants receive 5 weeks payment in their first Universal Credit payment? Also, if, say for example, a claimant is switching to Universal Credit from New Style JSA Contribution-based then why does DWP need 1 week to process the Universal Credit payment when the claimant is already in the payment system from JSA???
It allows for a buffer for them if your circumstances change. Youll always effectively get paid as a delay so if you got a job and that info didnt get back to them immediately, they dont end up paying you money you dont need.
@@RevorecRecruitmentSolutions Thank you for responding so promptly but my question isn't relating to the waiting period, I understand about the waiting period it's the payment that doesn't make sense. Why pay for 4 weeks when it's a 5 week wait? Shouldn't the claimant receive 1 month and 1 week payment? Also, if you're already in the payment system from another benefit then a 5 week waiting period should not apply only the 4 week assessment period.
I see what you mean. The official line is its an even distribution of funds but unnofficially its an excuse to restrict payouts. Basically most people are only on UC for a short period. And once UC get notified that someone is no longer eligible for UC they stop paying, even if in theory as in your example, they owe a week. Its basically an accounting trick that saves a lot money on payouts but with some legitimate excuse to cover themselves. Maybe im just a skeptic but thats my interpretation
@@RevorecRecruitmentSolutions Again, thank you for response. So, basically, a single person who is entitled to £409.89 per calendar month loses £102.47 for the extra week to process a payment when they're already in the payment system. (£402.89 / 4 weeks = £102.47 per week) WOW! That's a lot of money to lose just to process a payment!! Thanks again, your videos are very informative.
Finally decided to apply, 22 finished university, tried to find work for 6 months, had 1 interview where i got beat out by someone with 5 years more experience. The experience has been bad so far, i put that i didn't have housing costs or children and it said i live alone when i live with my parents, took me hours to figure out that it says i live alone because I'm not claiming for anyone else, when trying to verify my identity i had to disabled my ad blockers and enable cookies to get the website to work. Iv heard that they try and get you to apply for bad jobs that you don't want to do or aren't suitable for, if i keep applying to jobs that i want to do and keep it updated in the journal section will this be proof enough that I'm looking for work without them intervening?
Basically the work coach is looking to see you applying for jobs. Thats the target box ticked. So applying for naff jobs is what theyll encourage you to do. HMRC arent worried about you being happy or not. Its purely a tick box exersize to get more tax takers into tax makers. In the nicest way youll probably have to take a naff job now and keep applying for something better. You can try and play the system and wait until you find something you want but the longer you dont work and claim UC the better employees wont take you as a serious candidate. If youve been looking 6 months and had 1 interview its probably a good indicator your chances of getting a job doing what you want now isnt likely. Best advice take the best of the worst jobs you can find and keep applying for the right jobs. Itll take a while but at least theyll see your working. To get the job you want is more of a stepping stone process.
Get the council to provide a letter of email showing the amount, take a photo of it and send it to UC. They dont communicate and kind of expect them to be thick so you need to be crystal clear and spoon feed them. Then keep hassling them and youll get your way
I found this video useful however when I called universal credit up they talked me through more in depth calculations on how they work out from your income how much you would be entitled to. I did not understand it and I am trying to find a video on the breakdown so I can work out myself and understand it. Originally I had a message that I was eligible for universal credit but when I called up they said that even though my income was quite low due to over time I wouldn't be eligible. In the next few days I will be moving out and renting. Is there anyway I can work out if that would change anything and I would be then eligible for the universal credit? Sorry to babble on, on these comments but I would really appreciate some help :-)
To be honest it evolves over time and things have changed since the video. I dont know the exact calcs. This was a basic breakdown. Maybe someone in the comments can help?

Again I dont know. Bear in mind im a recruitment company owner who made the video at the beginning of the pandemic to help people who'd never been on benefits before with the basics. Id hardly call myself a professional in the subject. However asking a convicted fraudster for advice on claiming benefits, I dont know but common sense says probably not a great idea unless you fancy prison. Your call though
Hello, I found this video very important. I am paid twice a month. So I have given the figure divided by two. But did not include my overtime payment. Furthermore, I have included my 21 old sons. Do they make any fraud allegation, or can I edit the information and how? Please advise; thank you.
To be honest I do not know the answer for sure as I am not an assessor. As for the information you provide as long as it is as genuine and honest as possible then I wouldnt worry about fraud.
No. But I can see why people would be lead to think that. I believe it implies the state is giving away its money to who needs it 'universally', under the proviso that theyll pay it back via tax in future.
I've just turned 18 and the reason I'm going onto UC is because I don't have the right documents to work such as a passport/Provesional, so I don't hope to be on it for long. I have a question, I've just done the phone interview and now I have a meeting with a work coach at the job centre and it's called a commitment meeting... Do you know what they will ask and what I need to bring? Thank you :)
The commitment is more about are you committed to getting a job in their eyes as opposed to trying to play the system. These are tick box exersizes carried out by a pen pusher who will be more interested in getting you in and out quickly. Your approach should be simple answers indicating that you have tried to get a job, but no success and you need UC as you do not have any other means of income or savings plus no family or friends can or are willing to help you financially. Keep it simple but they just want the boxes ticked to re-affirm and approval
Incredibly complicated. As a Californian I went onto the calculator and entered my info based on our income here, your taxes reduced our income severely and we got $0 for universal credit. Some of my children didn’t count due to their birthdates. We would be poorer if we lived there, for sure. I don’t think universal means what you guys think it means haha.
I know what it means, but its the wording the implies something else. Its designed as a short term measure to cover someone. Not a sustainable living practice. Plus tax, rent and other subsidies come into play that wont necessarily be displayed. You are right about it being incredibly complicated though
@@RevorecRecruitmentSolutions keeps the accountants and politicians in business eh? And just to clarify I didn’t mean you guys as in your yt channel, but as in your country calling it universal when it obviously excludes so many! I notice politicians like to name their schemes these fun sounding names that are not true: for us it’s the Patriot Act (a true patriot would fight and oppose!!) or the Affordable Care Act which drove up prices at once.
@@RevorecRecruitmentSolutions it’s not a short term measure at all.. some People are moved over from DLA with indefinite decisions to UC with the ESA element. Ie on it forever…
UC. How it doesn't work and what you need to know to avoid it being stopped would be a more useful video. Good luck all those who genuinely need this payment! I was told, after working 30 hours a week for 12 years, that I had to be working a minimum 36 hours or they'd assign me a work coach to find something to fill the additional hours!! Now I'm on 36 hours, it means they can cut the amount of UC we receive! R-soles, the lot of them!
It would be cheeper just to give everybody that isn't in work a certain amount of money to live on each week and do away with all the red tap and civil servant's that police universe credits, I'm sure it would be possible as they are trialling it in other countries the now, but i haven't heared anything lately about it in the news.I just looked up that the uk government spends 60billion £ a year on it is that paying the civil servant's jobs aswell? I wonder?
The problem is the government want more income not outgoings. I like that idea but we love our red tape and potholes in this country. The money isnt distributed correctly. If it was that idea would be realistic but it isnt and we make no attempt to fix it.
@@RevorecRecruitmentSolutions yes there's going to be in serious trouble this year with this virus and leaving the European union im glad I work for a council or I would be serious worried about the future too I applied 4 times for a council job before I got a interview been there 14 years now ,one of my better decisions in life, steady reliable work not like agencies work they should be outlawed in uk your just a number with them.
Because you need to make them aware. Hmrc's stance is that they presume you have savings, income through other routes or are self employed. With 67 million people in the UK they cant automatically know to be fair to them.
I live at home still but this question is for a friend of mine, she works at a place where she in contracted to 16 hour per week sometimes she's gets paid £120 a a week sometimes a little more this is after tax, it seems this scheme is set out ymto force you to leave your job or week more hours, but its hard to find jobs around here even before covid 19, basically she likes this job and wants to stay but thr lowest place she can find rent per month is around £475, is there not anyway she can stay at this job, doing 16 hours a week as that's all they offer and just receive help permanently with out them badically keep trying to make her find a new job.. , and she enjoys this job and the people she works with just they refuse to offer anymore than 16 hours, its weird these days government seem to want to help uk citizens less and less
Its tricky. Universal credit doesn't pay much and unless your disabled, then UC is really only designed as a temporary solution as and when someone needs it. Your household can try and apply but it won't make much difference to the earnings. Id advise consulting citizens advice as they may have other assistance. Good luck and sorry I couldn't help more.
Thank you for the video it is very helpful for me. I have a question and I hope you can help me finding the answer. I'm married and I have three children which makes me eligible for a 3 beds house. Unfortunately the rent of the house is higher around 1850 pound per month [in London Rate D] How much do you think Universal credit can covers my housing rent?
Youll be lucky to get a 3rd of that unfortunately unless you get other top ups. To be honest im not an assessor so dont have the knowledge to give you an answer. Im very sorry.
the £409 for singles is only temporary from my understanding because of the Viruse - i believe this will be only for a year - the usually about for over 25s is £317.
I have only had 409 once in the last 2mouths just the normal amount if this is for a year then I want the rest paid to me and for the rest of the year can you sort this out for me
@@tonyeckersley1151 hi i would contact the DWP in case there is an issues or delay on your account. This £409 will only last till April 2021. Dear sir, thank you for the information about UC i have been without job since April 2019, in our 4 bed semi detached house me and my wife lives my wife get pension and i am 62years old we have applied for UC but didn't get anything because my wife gets her pensions she worked since she was 17 years old and i have almost been working for last 35 years and never been on benefit we are paying house mortgage aswell and we are just managing on my wife's pensions. please advise what we can do. thank you.🙏🌹🌻🌹🙏.
Unfortunately not much you can do apart from look to get a job. The government dont want to pay you money to pay your mortgage. But to be fair I can understand why as your house equity is a financial asset so by paying UC the government is giving you tax money that youll profit upon. UC is meant to be a temporary benefit or for ppl in financial need. Not to pay mortgages. So as much as I feel for you your not going to get much as you have a financial asset in a mortgage.
Hasmukh Morker, Be careful we lost our home, we were in a similar situation as you are in, we were both working, had ok jobs, we started a family our lovely daughter was born in 2009, unfortunately we new things were wrong just after she was born, the medical staff said no every thing is ok, this went on for three months, it was obvious that my wife would have to finish work and go as a full time care’r to look after her, she had test done , we were told that our daughter was blind, she would not walk, would always be in a wheelchair, she has global development delay, is epileptic, had fits most days, I have worked all my working life from 16 years old, as I have got older I was taking a private pension payment each month from my first job this was £80 pounds a month, because of this the parasites in government have now decided to stop paying my benefit, when my wife went as a full time carer our wages went down to me only, it did not take Northern Rock long before they stuck the knife in, we got into arrears with the mortgage, six months later they repossessed, then after that, just to rub things in even more ,there was a short fall in the mortgage of 38 thousand pounds, how would we like to pay they asked, I said fuck off, we had to be declared Bankrupt, I would not wish that on my worst enemy, now today we have got through a lot, our daughter is doing better, she attends a special school and is doing well, I have wrote this to you and to anyone else, to be careful ,if you have to be in contact with the establishment because all of them are legalised crooks, your mortgage company do not give a toss, to you it’s your home, to them it’s only bricks and mortar, I am sorry for the long explanation, I hope you get things sorted, but you would not think that this Tory government could be so heartless, but that’s what is happening. Take care good luck.

We as family registered still on Tax credit system, I am self employed, my wife as house house wife, 16 years old son (disable, severe learning difficulties) & 7 years old son. Which one is better for us (UC or Tax credit) ?
It's a pro's and con's situation. UC does have some extra flexibility but you are expected to follow certain obligations (job searching/part time work/proof you are trying to do certain things). It really comes down to two things. 1-Whether you will financially benefit from 1 more than the other and 2-What one works best for you. However, whilst I know the system I'm not an assessor so I'd seek advise from an assessor to answer as I wouldn't know a straight answer for you.
I wouldn't go onto to UC until you get moved onto it in your situation. If your wife gets carers allowance for your son there would be no pressure on her re:work. In respect of yourself you will be okay if you are earning the equivalent of 30 or 35 hours (not sure) at minimum wage. However, if your earnings are below that threshold there will be pressure put on you that isn't there on the tax credits system.
Hello, i'm an 18 year old who has left college this year, and will not be going to university this year. Will I be able to claim UC? I live with my family (two adults and three other children)
Thats an expansive question. A 5 step plan is best to keep things simple. 1-draw up a cv and look up examples on google images as a reference point. 2-register you're cv on cv library, totaljobs and indeed. 3-apply for realistic jobs you're likely to be considered for. 4-if you get an interview do whatever it takes to attend asap. 5-follow up any interview with a thank you email. Hope that helps
I am currently going from ESA (contributions based) to universal credit due to needing UC to claim housing benefit which im having to get as my mum is throwing me out of her house and i cant afford to rent on my own on my current £500 a month benefits I get at the moment?! Has anyone got any ideas as to what I can do?❤
Hi, my wife works part time 14 hours a week. We also have a 2 year old child and we rent a flat. I have just been made redundant by my company and my last day of work is on the 31st of Aug. Could you advise how much UC will i get. Also will i get help with rent and council tax. Thanks
I’m scared. I have not been able to reset my universal credit password for months. However, it will send me my username if prompted but no way of resetting from my phone. The job centre has left me a message saying they have info as to why and the technical team have said why but not gave me anything further. I’m really worried
Officially you declare them so UC can take them into account. If you dont UC can ask you to submit all your financials. It might sound harsh, but in the eyes of UC theyre paying you taxpayer money so they want to assess whether you actually need it.
If you have less than 6000 in savings you will get normally amount. If you have 6000 to 16000 uc gets reduced. If you have over 16000 you can't get any uc
@@RevorecRecruitmentSolutions hi I'm new in UK, I have no job, no savings, no property, have two younger siblings to take care, can you please guide me how can I apply for UC
I am living with grand parents, they are very old not working may be they have some property, but our parents are not with us, I am 21, unemployed, have 2 younger sisters, can I get universal credit, and how can I apply for it, please can you tell me the procedure
Yes you can apply. Go on google and type apply for universal credit. Find the hmrc website and make an application following the steps and asking the questions. It takes about 5 weeks to get your first payment.
My partner has child tax credit. She is a single parent and has 2 children. I came to the UK last two years ago and decided to move in with her this 2020 and have a new born baby now. Just wanna know what should we do next. I'm in leave to remain so i don't have access to public funds. Will my partner get back charges if she don't declare that we are together. I stay at work most of the week due to i work in a mental health support accommodation. And will we get universal credit for child care? My salary and her salary is just normal wages and we are mortgaging a flat right now and paying for a car as well monthly. And its been tough and would really impact our financial situation if we have to pay full for child care.
I was told by a guy who works at the Princess Trust that I qualify for universal credit. I'm 19 and I live with my parents in a fairly wealthy household. In what way do I qualify?
I have no idea. UC is based on household income so, whilst you should bear in mind I an not a UC assessor so my word is not final, the words 'wealthy household' wouldnt fill me with confidence about getting UC.
You are an adult in your own right so your parents income will not be taken into account for accessing your benefits. You would not be eligible for help with rent as you are not on any tenancy agreement and therefore not legally liable for rent payments. You can get the standard allowance which currently for your age group is £344.
Hi! What happens if I claim UC ( with my partner and 1 child) and later I have to reduce my working hours?( I already work only 30 hours a week.) Will I get more from UC? And how will I know that I would get enough?
UC is generally recalculated by computer automatically every month. If there is a change with your household income it'll correct itself. Two things to be mindful of: 1-if your income changes weekly, UC may not adjust until it's own monthly software re-adjustment kicks in which could catch you out. 2-it's designed to not be enough money so people do not become reliant on UC.

No. Your question is by far the most common question I get on universal credit funnily enough. Unless you take the loan or overclaim for what you are entitled to you dont pay anything back bar any portion that was overclaimed for.
My partners is employed but has been off work due to ill health, they have now dropped his money to peanuts. I work , our problem is we got a loan out last year to pay all delta off , I'm worried even. With what I earn we won't get enough to pay the loan plus the mortgage as well as house hold bills etc. Having never claimed before what the hell do we do,
Thats a difficult situation. Im not an expert on the loan bit but there was to my knowledge some legislation changes on loans regarding people being able to afford them. Id look up any articles to find subject matter expert on that online. UC wont help much but maybe a little. You need to prioritise the mortgage 1st. The loan could probably work as an extended payment plan, the mortgage extended to spread over a longer period and cut non essential household bills. But prioritise the mortgage whatever happens
I work 12 hours a week and started UC last week and my work coach said to do 22 hours a week of preparation for work, training and looking for jobs? How do I do 22 hours a week of that? I’m super confused in what I need to do?
Im not sure. 22 hours a week? Thats nearly 4 and a half hours a day monday to friday. Id ask what they expect you to do during that time but id presume theyd say applying for jobs. An hour a day is fine as how many jobs are you really likely to get? Four hours a day just seems overkill
The general expectation is that you spend 35 hours per week undertaking activities that are related to jobs each. You're already working 12 hours, so the rest is to take it up to approx 35. This is not only time applying for jobs, but looking for jobs, contacting potential employers directly, time spent writing applications, rewriting your cv etc. Job related activities.
Of course, most of this is done online, so it is actually relatively easy to make up to 35. However, if you have any health conditions, or other issues, that make it harder for you to complete job search activities, you MUST discuss this with your work coach, as your claimant commitment should be tailored to you and your situation.
I have received a UCD81 letter in my universal credit inbox today what is the meaning of it as it doesn't say anything about pay rises or anything like it it just says that I've been put in the limited capability of work related activities what ever that means.
I have a question for you, What does mean exactly savings? I got couple of direct debit in my bank account from France but i need this money to buy a house, i'm a first time buyer, basically it is not a saving but money from my parents to buy a house here. So my question is: Savings means everything's that i have or just money in saving account such as ISA account. Thank you for your answer
Savings in the eyes of universal credit is literally any of your bank savings accounts. They want to see if you can use your own finances to support yourself rather than tax payer money. To be fair if thats house deposit money then thats money you could use to live on so thats why UC will want to know about it.
@@marcoboss5863 I feel your pain, but I can also understand that taxpayers wouldn't want people to be paid taxpayer money so they can buy a mortgage for themselves with it. That's a bit like saying I've lost my job but I still want to buy my dream car, can you cover my living costs so I can still buy the car I want. It's an incredibly frustrating scenario for you, but any savings in the eyes of HMRC are seen as money that can be used for you to live on. It doesn't differentiate mortgage savings to normal savings. They're just savings in the eyes of HMRC. It seem unfair, but that's how they do it.
Hi, live in a cheap house £ 370 per month its not the real world . my land lord is selling the property , so I need to fined a new house, the problem is to rent another house I need a 4 bedroom, and they cost £1100 plus, i've rang universal credit but they don't seem to have the answer of what help I can get, I have this year to sort it, it looks like we will be in homeless accommodation , any help would be appreciated
For a 4 bed you need an 8 person household. You also have to consider that those are rare as hens teeth to come on the market for UC claimants. Simplest way is move elsewhere in uk but presumably thats not realistic for you. The typical solution is emergency accomodation until a 4 bed can be found but do not expect that to be quick. Any landlord that has a 4 property has their pick of the market and unfortunately UC claimants are not as desirable as a nice 2.4 children middle class family. Sadly the answer is patience and accepting emergency accomodation or relocate elsewhere
What happens if you decide to move abroad to look for job or leave for a long period the UK. Do I have to give the money back? Is it enough to comunicate on the journal?
Good question. To my knowledge no, but you need to let them know immediately of any change in circumstances as if they overpay you for thing's your not entitled to due to being out of the UK, in that instance they'll want the overpayments back.
You stop being entitled to UC if out of the UK for 28 days or more at a single time. Upon return you can claim again but you may have to undertake a habitual residency test (HRT). As it’s based on a monthly basis, you would only have to pay back any money received after the 28 days outside the UK. Hope this helps

Thanks a lot... Kindly regards Juma Di Giglio
You will need to ask Universal Credit because it can be complicated. The reason why is that how much you get depends on how much you earn from a job, how much children/family that money needs to support, your visa/residential status, disability status and your income from other sources. It could therefore range from £0 to £1000 per month for example. It is a very difficult question to answer as I dont know.
Hi, i have been on universal credit for about 9 months getting £409 each month, am i correct in thinking this money is mine to keep in other words they cannot take it away if I do not keep up with commitments and i won't have to pay it back for not sticking to commitments? I take it is only advances that need paying back (i have never asked for one) or overpayments?
Hi it’s my second time receiving the payment but I wanted know does the payment to need to be pay back it’s a grant. Really Curious like don’t wanna put my self in to death
If its universal credit as income support then no, it doesnt need repaying. But if its some kind of grant or payment advance then yes. They should have sent an email or letter explaining if its the latter.
Hi I have adult child she doesn’t have job and I can’t afford her with my universal credit, can she apply uc for herself? But she is staying with me so how she has to prove her cost and what evidence she needs to provide as she does not have any tenancy agreement in her Name , if you answer will be great help
There are two options. Option 1 is register her as living there and get all the proofs they ask for and she also applies for Universal Credit. However universal credit is calculated on household income so as long as she's not working then she should get some money from it. Option 2 tell her to get a job and move out
Don't forget about the sick and the elderly. The most demonic, unfair and SAD system of benefit ever, especially for people with health issues and the elderly!! So-called 'work-coaches' phoning people EVERY MONTH/FORTNIGHT is perverse mental harassment that makes us all ill. Disgusting and deplorable joke run by clueless persons. People who are ill should be phoned/visited by a HEALTH coach every year, NOT harassed every month/fortnight to get sick notes from some doctors who even refuse to give sick notes, and then they are told to look at the job-markets when some are even too ill to go on there laptop or take a shower. I hope it goes to hell along with all their staff. The UC staff PLAY TRUANT just as much as any benefit cheats because rather than get a NORMAL job, they get paid wages for mentally harassing us on a phone leading to an increase in nervous breakdowns, suicides and people who can't support their own family. FACT; The staff are not even trained to deal with health issues! Instead they phone everyone including the vulnerable and the sick to try to get them working in the middle of a deadly pandemic when nearly every place is closed and their own government has told us all to STAY AT HOME!! The UC staff are even risking lives by telling people to use public transport when the government has given STAY AT HOME orders!!!
A friend of mine needs to change the security questions because she didn't make a note of them when she set up her account. Is there a video about how to change them? Could you add a link to that? Thanks a lot!
Hello there! I’m under 25 unemployed and applying full time to college for next year, can I still claim UC? Or this will affect my dad benefits and other income? Thanks :)
Universal Credit is based on household income. So while yes you appear to be eligible from what you say, if you live with your dad then his benefits will be taken into account.
Revorec Recruitment Solutions So this mean other benefits will be not cancel after I applied? (My dad’s benefits are child benefits for my sister and tax credit)
@revorecrs except on a monday between 10.34am to 3.52pm and thursdays all day. And every second sunday and friday between 9.16am and 3.06pm or if busy its 9.63am to 4.99pm or on then if not to be related to any if be not that is or income, or something like that.
The single person and over 25 amount I take it that doesn't include housing and you get that in top of it or is the amount the max you can get includes housing
@@RevorecRecruitmentSolutions thanks as I thought that figure included housing. I have been looking into it and applying is, easy but to book appointment to start with you have to phone. Good day I’m confused I was made unemployed I went into the local branch I’m single with my 21 yr old daughter living with me but she has a few issues and never worked I’m receiving 320 per month I’m so far behind now with mortgage payments how do I find if I’m entitled to any more help I was told non as I m not in council housing so frustrated never been unemployed before after 40 years
To be honest you are limited on options. The HMRC stance is that taxpayers shouldnt be paying someones mortgage. But then again if you lose your house then its the council who need to help which comes at a cost to the taxpayer. So the logic is a bit shortsighted. Ask for a mortgage holiday from your lender if you havent. That should buy you 3 months. Id sign on for agency work for warehousing etc. The income will be low enough to keep hmrc support money but add a bit extra. Buy time basically. Also call citizens advice. No simple answer I can give you unfortunately.

I live on household with private landlord. My advisor from NJSA recommend me to apply for UC. I don't want my Landlord to know about it? Do you know if they will call him if i Apply for it? Thank you in advance
The money for the rent if you claim will go direct to him anyway so he will end up finding out. Id advise to follow what your gut instinct says. Either front it out and risk an issue or go ahead and hope as long as he/she gets paid then who cares. Your call but theyll find out eventually
@@RevorecRecruitmentSolutions thank your replying. I wasn't so sure if they will contact him or Send the help directly to me. Thank you so much for the helpful information.
What if my last 3 months of payslips are furlough slips and they don't show my hourly wage or basic week. It just shows how much I received each week as furlough?
Presumably your payslip still contains a national insurance number? Plus your furlough is 80% of your guaranteed basic. With that info there is enough to calculate a claim from their end.
At the end of the day you will have to pay maybe only 5% council tax if you apply for a council tax reduction they normally pay 95% and you have to pay around about £12 a month
Could you please help me to sough out my problem, when I apply for universal credit, I first created the account, but I couldn't claim as soon as possible. After a while when I try, it didn't allow me to go ahead to make a claim. What should I do?
Hello! I'm not out of work yet. but I'm just trying to be prepared just in case that situation comes around. Is it possible to get the universal credit and then look for like a part-time job or something? I have my mortgage to pay and other things.
Yes. Universal credit just tops up so you clear what is considered the poverty line for households. Getting a part time job doesn't mean you cant claim, it just means that it will affect how much you'd get.
I am on uc single and under 25 I have passed my health assessment. Am I eligible for housing benefits and if so how do I apply to I ring the job center ? And will I get help with moving/bond costs many thanks
The last part probably no, but worth asking. Id suggest trying to call the job center or helpline number they provided. Its not something I can answer as I'm not an assessor and it differs claimant to claimant.
My universal credit assment period start 26 each month to 25 each month and where i search job my boss told me we paid 10 date each month salary to all employer so what can i do because my pay date arrived after assment period
Youll need to wait to get paid and then itll get backdated. It could take 5 weeks. The only other option is to contact them and apply for an advance but theyll charge you a large interest rate for doing so.

If you're below the official retirement age then HMRC will either want you working to pay tax or financially self sufficient. But the problem is if you have legitimate health conditions they're more like pen pushers than human beings when considering circumstances. Best to stay on UC for now unless you have a viable financial alternative.
I have claimed UC but I don’t understand what the take-home pay is. I’m eligible to the £409.89 but haven’t received anything because of that take home pay🤷🏽♀️ could you explain what that is?
The way it works is that youre earnings and savings are taken into account first and the amount eligible for is taken off that but...it takes usually around 5 weeks to get your money

@Chris Longden Yeah the UK can be a bit brutal towards its most vulnerable people.
By the way, did you cover the 5 week wait to receive any money whatsoever from them? Apologies if you did, but I don't recall you doing so.

I sort of don't understand this whole thing, is universal credit something you will have to pay back or no?
Every body's circumstances are different, so bare that IN YOUR MIND! !!!!!!!!!!!!
I was going to ask if I can get universal credit but after reading all these comments I'm not going to bother.
Its almost designed not help people isnt it.
Correct
Legacy benefits paid weekly
52 payments a year
U/C paid monthly up to a max of 12 payments a year
Four weeks in a month
12 x 4 = 48 weeks
Four weeks short every year
Same applies to housing benefit
Also people on UC must pay a percentage of council tax
This wasn't the case with legacy benefits
One of the factors why poll tax was scrapped
Being the fact the unemployed could not afford to pay it
A single person on U/C gets the same amount as a single person on ESA
The benefit of pushing people on to
ESA is it makes the unemployment figures look better
As only those signing on are counted as unemployed
Those on ESA on the whole are exempt from signing on

Perhaps im just a sceptic as I say but you see a pattern emerging where by if there is an angle to save money the system will.

@revorecRS exactly! Target box done and dusted. Btw why is it called a jobcentre?
thanks for getting back, I have a house lined up. universal credit say £688 towards rent then council says £873, so really I have not got a clue

I'm confused by the world "credit". Does this mean that whatever you get has to be paid back? 🤔
No offence taken as you make a valid point. It's all politician talk rather than what it is
@D C I’m better off staying in California per this calculation 🤣

They say if you are on a low income, but then hound you to find work or stop your UC. If you are on no income, why aren't you eligible automatically?
Because you need to make them aware. Hmrc's stance is that they presume you have savings, income through other routes or are self employed. With 67 million people in the UK they cant automatically know to be fair to them.
Great explanation 👍

And as far as I know, if you're on Universal Credit, they will take £60 out of every £100 you earn if it is more than you are getting on UC.

I’ve just received my first payment, I was wondering do you have to pay this money back eventually or is it yours to keep?

So with just getting the universal credit alone without a loan. It does not have to be paid back?
No. Your question is by far the most common question I get on universal credit funnily enough. Unless you take the loan or overclaim for what you are entitled to you dont pay anything back bar any portion that was overclaimed for.
Thank you very much
My partners is employed but has been off work due to ill health, they have now dropped his money to peanuts.
Thank you I have literally just sorted the mortgage to pay just the interest for two months , least that's sorted x
Good. Im pleased for you
I work 12 hours a week and started UC last week and my work coach said to do 22 hours a week of preparation for work, training and looking for jobs?
@@RevorecRecruitmentSolutions so literally all the money that I have, but this is unfair because I don't need that for live but for buy a new house.

So if I'm working 20 hours a week on 1k a mounth will I get 300 a mounth universal credit. Cos 1k times 12 is 12000 its classed as low knckem
Kind of. However im not an assessor so they take other factors into account. But in theory yes.
@@markmcallister7569 You know more than the channel owner mate, well done.
Hi, thank you for your video. I’m currently a student but on a last year course finishing this summer 2021, live with parent and have to pay them rent and they keep pressuring me to move out as soon as I finished with college, and have 1 job with low income. Do you think UC will support me with renting cost if I move out soon right after I’m done with college? How would that work with my situation?
Possibly but unless you are a full time student less likely to help
@@RevorecRecruitmentSolutions I’m a part-time student but will be finished in the summer 2021 and hopefully I can can find some job along to way to help support the bill and renting when I have to move out.
Hi mate,my income is 1740£, I am married whit 2 kids, 11 and 7 years old,my wife don't work, my rent is 1250£ and 151£ of cancel tax .I am eligible to apply? If yes,how much can I get?thanks.

Please ...hello my name is juma I'm Italian....at the .omens I'm working part time and I live in a hotel paid from company for homeless....can you tell me please ....if you know how many hours I have to doing a part time job'for getting all the universal credit for entire?
Thanks a lot...

Juma Di Giglio
Correct on all. And advances or overpayments are classed as owings to UC until your take from UC balances with what you are eligible for.
@@RevorecRecruitmentSolutions thanks👍that's put my mind at rest
Hi it’s my second time receiving the payment but I wanted know does the payment to need to be pay back it’s a grant. Really Curious like don’t wanna put my self in to death
If its universal credit as income support then no, it doesnt need repaying. But if its some kind of grant or payment advance then yes. They should have sent an email or letter explaining if its the latter.
Hi there, quick question. Do you have to pay universal credit back?
No. Unless you've claimed for what you arent entitled to
Hi I have adult child she doesn’t have job and I can’t afford her with my universal credit, can she apply uc for herself? But she is staying with me so how she has to prove her cost and what evidence she needs to provide as she does not have any tenancy agreement in her Name , if you answer will be great help
There are two options. Option 1 is register her as living there and get all the proofs they ask for and she also applies for Universal Credit. However universal credit is calculated on household income so as long as she's not working then she should get some money from it. Option 2 tell her to get a job and move out
Thank god I got a job
Youve got me there. Can any other subscribers advise? Ill have a look on other resources and come back to you.
From what I can find they cannot be changed. The solution is request a change of circumstances or make a fresh application and withdraw the old one.
Set up text OTP security on your claim. If you can't answer security questions you get OTP which you have to give to operator.
@@moynulelsypre9239 If they are part of UC then they may alter them if it plays into the household income.
That figure is the base rate. Housing and any other benefits are on top.
@@RevorecRecruitmentSolutions thanks as I thought that figure included housing. I have been looking into it and applying is, easy but to book appointment to start with you have to phone. Don't get why they don't just send text. As if people, arnt aware to phone the claim closes after a, while doesn't it
Good day I’m confused I was made unemployed I went into the local branch I’m single with my 21 yr old daughter living with me but she has a few issues and never worked I’m receiving 320 per month I’m so far behind now with mortgage payments how do I find if I’m entitled to any more help I was told non as I m not in council housing so frustrated never been unemployed before after 40 years
To be honest you are limited on options.
@@RevorecRecruitmentSolutions yes it’s short sighted it makes you think after all this time paying into the system is it worth it my next door neighbours don’t work 5 kids living a better life than me
Frustrating
I’m going on this soon. How do you pay council tax is it done automatically or do you get a card. It’s worrying me 😞 x
Make an application for a credit or reduction on gov.co.uk.
Payment? What payment, by the time you get your first payment you are faced with sanctioning , Don't believe this bollocks
Oh you'll like the video we have coming out tonight then.
What about someone who’s single, under 25 and is self employed?
I dont know the exact figure but id estimate 1/3rd of the family of four total. Im not an assessor so really not an accurate estimate bear in mind
😊a lot of help freom this site.
Thank you
Mikey moo my mortgage is very very low... we’re talking £260 a month
Also please explain what is tax free child care, child care tax credit and working tax credit?
When sang the amounts, it would help if you said "per week or per month"?
Good point. Sorry if that wasnt clear.
@@RevorecRecruitmentSolutions I guess logically I should deduce that is per month, but in the past I had heard about people collecting weekly dole payments so I was just curious when the amounts were stated.
Tbh ive come at it from a monthly calculations perspective (I did the video sometime back mind you) but its paid weekly. My idea was for budgeting purposes
@@RevorecRecruitmentSolutions oh that makes sense, I understand now, thank you!
i finally received my universal credit after 3 months of back and fourth journal messages, i’m a uni student and i can’t work atm, do i need to pay this money back in anyway?
No. The confusing part is having the word credit but its more a series of mini grants
do we need to pay back "UC" once we start working?
Or in any other cases ?
No. The only instance you need to pay it back is when you have overclaimed too much money either by your mistake or UC's

Hi.i got universal credit at the moment..today i just stop working ,in the factory where i been for 9 years...how to let know universal credit about that?what section to chose to let them know about that?thank you
Hello, so I have a daughter aged 18 and she wants to work part-time. Will that reduce the benefits we earn from universal credit
Yes if she lives in the same house. UC takes into account household income
I'm retired early and getting my works pension which is under the limit. I've just claimed UFC and getting a little bit to top upto 409. But my case worker keeps ringing me to get a job which I dont want. Due to my health. Can they force me to get a job or ami best just coming off uc.
If you're below the official retirement age then HMRC will either want you working to pay tax or financially self sufficient. But the problem is if you have legitimate health conditions they're more like pen pushers than human beings when considering circumstances. Best to stay on UC for now unless you have a viable financial alternative.
@@RevorecRecruitmentSolutions thank you
@streetmuggedbypolice no not friendly at all. In fact he is very abrupt. Actually thinking of changing my doctors.
I'm self employed and haven't claim UC yet. I have savings and live at my girlfriend mums with them both aswell as my daughter. Can I claim UC?
It goes on the household so yes you can claim but it'll factor in their incomes also which could effect how much you'll get.
I went to court the judge was brilliant ,I got shot twice in the back whilst in the army i am now on esa and pip as i have MUSCLE AND spinal damage .The judge said its clear to see your injured from being shot twice ,I grant you full pip and esa . Ok thank you judge i got full pip and ESA back dated . Then 2 weeks later i got a letter from benefits ,you are in a work related activity group please attennd the job centre monday 9, 25 am if you dont attend ,you will be sanctioned . I went mad rang the DWP. They said dont worry about what the judge said ,Thats just how its been worded They all write like that . .We will see you monday . 9,25 .i didnt turn up and yes all my benefit stopped . I rang the courts then i sent a memmo to the judge ,she went mad but she knew who i was becouse id been shot twice .3 days later my money was re,enstated .all ok now .they are crazy and if they say some one will ring you back before 5 pm that will never happen ever . and if they say your payment will be in at 3 pm .thats a lie ,that wont happen .
Im so sorry to hear that. Having family and friends who are current and ex forces sickens me the lack of care and respect people like you deserve. The simple problem is a lack of communication and poor training but the impact can be huge. Glad it got sorted in the end though.
Im on maternity leave and.dont want to return to work due to stress. Will this effect my ic claim? I required to return to work?
It could do. To be honest I dont know though
How long does it usually take for you to be able to get an advance payment because it’s been nearly 3 weeks and I still can not get it
Usually theyre trying to offer it to you but as so many are applying for the advance theres a backlog. How long though I dont know. Sorry
I applied a few weeks ago and it says on the website they will contact me but still haven’t. It also says they’re still processing my claim but when I click on home it says on the 24th of feb they will tell me how much I’m going to get and on the 28th I will be paid any money I am entitled too. I’m confused because it says they are still processing my claim... do you no any thing about this??
Thanks
5-6 weeks is the normal time. Ignore what the site says.
I am self employed and I was on UC douring lockdown. My question is will I need to declare the money I got as income when filling the self assesment?I mean do I have to pay tax on it?
You do not need to pay tax on UC. Its a state benefit, not taxable earnings.
