I feel like Tiff would love the Hellboy comic! It's fantastic. I would love to see it on the couch someday
Right I'm shocked they never covered it.
It is shocking. Justice for Hellboy!! Lol. Would love to see Tiff cover it on back issues.
Sals talked about it on a podcast before something happened with mike mignola and tiff and sal doesnt like him anymore
@@zachpassey4196fair enough, I had no clue. Thanks for sharing.
@@zachpassey4196 That's too bad. Unfortunate Comic Pop lore
Hellboy need to be an animated show...like Invincible.
With completely different animation of course.
This is the correct answer, give it a dark, mignola-esque art style, make the BPRD gang go on a new adventure each episode x-files style
Don't think invincible, think samurai Jack. Or primal.
They have a few animated Hellboy movies
Yes
Both of your reactions to the “Ketchup Entertainment” logo made me fuckin’ howl with laughter
Since Mike Mignola is actually on it, might be a decent low budget film. I'll give it a chance.
That's what everyone said last time.
@@comicpopreturnsyou know what? True.
@@comicpopreturns well this time Mike Mignola is more heavily involved.
@samuelwatts7197 is he though because again people said that the last time
@ryanhensley4836 mignola has said he's more involved in this film him and one of his friends who written hellboy movie with him
To be honest, I’m just shocked it looks like it’s coming out. I’d heard so little about the production of this thing that I had assumed it has been shelved
I thought it was still in production because I remember people were getting mad at the director for saying AI is a great tool and it could be used for certain scenes in the movie and artwork
They took my favorite Hellboy story and gave it to the guy who directed Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance...
Yeah, and he also worked with Grant Morrison, and directed 9 episodes of Happy! Which is an incredible adaptation of the comics, and a fucking amazing show that everyone slept on.
@@Dartanyoogles I definitely missed out on that one and need to fix that problem soon.
@@youellswinney1964 I guarantee that you'll love it! Syfy canceled the third season, and I will never forgive them for it.
@@Dartanyoogles yeah agreed happy is brilliant
I’m so sorry. 😔
"It looks like "we have Hellboy at Home".
This is the line!
I'm obsessed with studying how Hellboy went from an Academy Award winning director...to a Game of Thrones director....to one of the directors of Crank. The fall from prestige property to Tubi horror flick is astounding.
Looks like “Hellboy: Blood & Honey” 🤣
Tiff's reaction pretty much sums up the General consensus of this.
This looks like a Tubi movie. It’s got a flat look because it doesn’t have the Budget to like, shoot at night so those scenes will be blue.
I also guess we will never see the goat legs. Like, Superman has the trunks back but those legs are a no go
I’m kind of surprised Mike Mignola hasn’t green lit a Hellboy animated series for streaming yet. I know he’s done it already with 2 animated direct to video Hellboy movies and The Amazing Screw-On Head pilot back in the day. Especially with the successes of Invincible and X-men 97.
You're absolutely right about colour grading. The movie just looks flat in terms of lighting, levels and colour grading.
I do love these reaction episodes!
The looks on Sal and Tiffany’s faces says it all
When i first saw this trailer, i immediately thought of you guys.
I had to look three different places to confirm this is an official movie. I was in denial and thought it was for sure a fan film.
This looks like a Redbox movie shot on VHS without a proper lighting crew
Digging the trailer reactions/analysis! As far as Hellboy, maybe an animated Mignola version of the Spiderverse visual approach (or something like Phil Tippet's MAD GOD look).
this is a pretty nice fan made film.... Oh no
Exactly Sal this is the spirit Halloween version: Helboi
not me pronouncing that Hell-BWAH
Low budget evil dead with hellboy cosplay.
I agree with Tiff, we can always get something out of every film even if it's not great, love the horror vibes and love hellboy so I'm in.
The budget is reported to be between 20-25 million dollars.
@@crims0nlight521 in Monopoly money? 😬
Tiffany convinced me, even if this is practically fan film level low budget, it could still have its charm and B horror appeal. More directly adapting one of the comics works in its favor too
But jeez at least give him yellow contact lenses
Tiffany NEEDS to read The Crooked Man and come back and watch the trailer again
Hellboy needs to go back to animation
There was a crooked man, and he walked a crooked mile.
He found a crooked sixpence upon a crooked stile.
He bought a crooked cat, which caught a crooked mouse,
And they all lived together in a little crooked house.
My biggest gripe is that they’re filming this in the wood, nothing screams extremely low budget, then filming in the woods. Speculating that it’s $1 million to make is extremely generous I was gonna say 250,000 because it has no All-Star cast and the make up looks… well… like that. I am even gonna be bold to say that there won’t be any CG in this movie.
All the Hellboy movies have been world-ending level threats. As a huge Hellboy fan I definitely want more of the low stakes monster of the week stuff that happens in the comics (not that I think this will be that)
This being directed by one of the directors of Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance which has me all ready worried. But the trailer definitely doesn’t help.
I’m a big Hellboy fan and for me, I don’t really like the look of the makeup, but it still looks fun. Hoping for the best. Loving the trailer reactions!
Even though the David Harbor movie was bad I think he's a really good casting for Hellboy so I'm a little disappointed he's not in this. However I'm definitely open to someone else portraying him if it's good.
It looks like a well intentioned fan film
Another hellboy movie wasnt on my bingo card but hell yeah
I want a Hellboy rated R animated show
9:07 i get what sal is saying here but i feel lately movies have been showing TOO much of the movie. A great bad example is that Killer's Game movie with Dave Bautista where it practically gives away the big plot twist.
For a horror movie the less you see the more you could be in shock for. I want to know less to be surprised.
So many comments are like "This is just like the comics" like what?!?! Maybe in tone, but that doesn't forgive the ATROCIOUS looking Hellboy and suspect acting. What the hell is going on? Just throw in some flying Japanese severed head vampires
I’ve always wanted a horror, superhero film, and this might give me it so I hope for the best
The Crooked Man is one of Mignola's creepiest short stories and lends itself to a lower budget take, which is smart after the last attempt bombed. Set in the 50's this is a younger Hellboy and as much as Perlman is Del Toro's Hellboy, this feels more like Mignola's Hallboy. This could be Dredd all over again, but that could go both ways.
Love the reaction videos! Tiff’s reaction is always great
Keep the trailer reactions coming it’s fun to watch 2 reacting to trailers
If this movie is succesful maybe we get a Hellboy in Hell Arthouse Film
If this was a low budget horror film, I would say this looks interesting. As a Hellboy movie... I don't know.
Comic Pop reacts/ Have you seen this Tiff?! 🤩🤯😵💫
PLEASE make it a thing 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Hey, its Hellboy. I will give it a shot.
Dang, I assumed Tiff would’ve been a Hellboy fan already. It seems so up her alley
You're not wrong, its one of those books where there is so much is feels overwhelming!
They met Mignola a while back and he was a jerk to them somehow so I can't imagine her being too keen.
@@milesupshur9869 that’s really surprising. I hope that isn’t true
Yay more trailer reactions
Tiffany had a great point: the photography doesn't help. I totally would prefer a greater contrast look, like something shot in 80s real film.
Based off this trailer and only knowing the other hellboy films I'd watch this,Looks a bit more spooky than the others.
Also I'm enjoying these react videos.
had no clue this coming out. hope it makes a profit
Thanks for the content !
Feels like they made a horror movie and dropped hellboy in it. Could work imo
I'm looking forward to this, mainly because Mike Mignola is involved in this. So I'm willing to give it a chance.
Richard Corben! Richard Corben! Richard Corben!.....that is all.
@@hookedonjuneau6313 his name is banned on RUclips
Hellboy on Tubi
Look like a Tubi movie.
I just hope the storyline is good I feel like that's going to be this movie saving Grace.
Also I know how misleading trailers can be some kind of hoping this is not what we'll see in the movie theaters
I’m starting to get the sense that more wooded scenes means smaller budget picture
These reaction episodes are great!!!!
It is so low budget which can be fine, but the actor playing Hellboy is wearing a skullcap! He could not be bothered to shave his head. That’s not okay at all.
They should have saved Hellboy's big reveal for the final seconds. Let it be a surprise that he was in the movie, let the rest of the trailer be Crooked Man set up.
“Surprised Hellboy is in this movie titled “Hellboy: The Crooked Man” lol
I'm loving this! not the trailer... that sucks but Tiffs reactions are gold
Love these guys!
LMAO SAL AT 1:13
From what I've read, this is lower budget than the previous films but Mike Mignola apparently worked directly on the Screenplay, which intrigues me.
It looks like a fan film
I saw someone say this looks like Dollar General Hellboy. For Mike’s sake I hope it’s at least fine but that trailer is, oof.
It will be hard to bear Ron Perlman's Hellboy
One actor I’d love to see take on hellboy either in games, movies or animation is … Christopher Judge… he’d be fucking epic
When the banners came up i thought the trailer was going to be augmented reality like when Ben Afleck made the hologram projector (Paycheck, 2003) all foreground no backgrounds, in holographic wonder, sick edit all the same.
Comic Pop's Big Red watching Big Red's latest movie trailer. LFG
I think the trailer looks fine but i watch maybe 1 movie every year lol
At first i thought it was a fan film and then i realized it wasnt and was excited to see it was more horror and not high stakes like the last few movies just theres something creepy in the woods and hellboy is gonna deal with it
I think its gonna be a lot like the comics based on the vibes of the trailer and I am excited for it
What bothers me is the lack of side characters present. What made the films interesting cor me was 1. The ensemble cast and 2. An interesting, esoteric plot. I really dont know what to think about this so far
I would like an animated series with Ron returning to voice
The creator of the comic is involved in the film. It's a younger Hellboy, a more comic accurate Hellboy. Lower budget too.
Hellboy on comic pop back issues WHEN!
Honestly. If it’s a horror movie it could be fine…I don’t know if it will be a good movie.
This movie looks great to be honest. Hope the color grading gets another pass, but that's a modern film problem really. I dunno. Hellboy should be cheap horror movies, especially to start.
Hip hip, hooray 🎉
I can’t wait for yall to do a back issues on the comic this movie is based on
Speaking of random comic book movies, did yall know theyre making an animated Rogue Trooper movie? As in 2000 AD Rogue Trooper?
Looks ok and more horror. Idk about the face for hellboy yet and the eyes could be yellow.
Will this be in theaters or streaming. Maybe it could because better t.v series.
@@nickducharme5104 this would be more better as a streaming series imo
An animated Crooked Man movie would have been the way to go. On this budget, with this cast.. don't resemble a measly fraction of the vibe from the comic. Hellboy & Richard Coban's work deserve better. Needs the spiderverse treatment.
that was my own problem with the most recent hellboy. The makeup, it just looked weird.
I guess I’ll be in the minority and say I think this is the smart direction to go in, regardless of the obvious low budget. All the Hellboy movies have tried making them these big superhero blockbusters when most of the time Hellboy comics are more small scale folklore horror stories with supernatural elements. That’s what this seems to be doing and there are shots pulled directly from the comic. My only real main issue with this is the look of it. Hellboy comics really pop with color and have strong contrast and deep blacks. This feels washed out and muted. All the past Hellboy movies haven’t done well at the box office because the budgets are massive so maybe this will work. Who knows!
Genuinely shocked at this revelation she doesn't read Hellboy
I'm shook
Don't be! It's on my list, but there is also a ton of it. It's difficult to find the time with keeping current with weekly comics, doing shows, and working a regular job! That said, I'm going to try and read this book before seeing the movie!
Well perhaps i did judge that Hellboy reboot too hardly. All it did was run out 6 budget like MK Annihilation
The lighting could work they just have to darken hellboys eyes via makeup or lighting maybe make him a deeper darker red. This feels like a early 2000 horror movie, theres a legend, a house, a monster… and why was the whole thing subtitled. Boost your dialogue or ReRecord. Skeptically optimistic
It doesn’t have to be a animated series or can live action I love they embracing the horror more here but it looks slightly fan made which is a slight problem. To me I would give it a chance but I think the reason Guillermo hellboy is still loved is because it’s had fun with the character and source material but it still had a decent story which is what matters first, you start with a good story then the rest begins from there
This movie gives me the same feeling “the boogeyman” reboot did.
I’d like to see William Brent Bell‘s hell boy.
Fans: "We want Hellboy 3 by Guillermo del Toro with Ron Pearlman!"
Hollywood: "We have Hellboy at home."
Hellboy at home:
Ron Pearlman is 74 years old. I think that ship has sailed.
@@stephenbaker942 So what? Harrison Ford is 81 years old and he still made another Indiana Jones movie. And Ron Pearlman's age doesn't matter because as Hellboy he will be wearing make-up anyway so you wouldn't see the actor's age.
The worst part is this looks like it leans hard into the horror aspect of the comics, and being familiar with Del Toros body of work it just has me thinking, fuuuuck he would have been the perfect choice to do this style of Hellboy movie.
I watched Hellboy (2019) yesterday and honestly it wasn't as horrible as I was lead to belive but the first 2 where terrific. This looks pretty rough.
Also, PLEASE read Hellboy. I know Mignola was a dick to you guys. Fuck him. The books are so good though, Hellboy and BPRD were one of the greatest comic saga's I've ever read through. Please consider giving it a shot. Seed of Destruction starts off way wordier than any of the other books because Mignola was trying to impress John Byrne at the time.
This title caught my eye idk like it
1:46 lmao.
I feel like it's gonna be one of those movies where it isn't the prettiest but the story is pretty good. Comparing clips to the comic it looks like a straight adaptation.
