Keine Kunst, aha aha, warum hats dann noch keiner gemacht? Erstmal muss man es schaffen überhaupt die Leistung aus 1,8L Motor rauszuholen. Dann kommt mit der Performance an seine Grenzen, weil es ist ja immer noch ein Golf 2 und wann man dann alles im Griff hat, dann kann man mal versuchen schnell zu sein. Diese 3 Faktoren hat der 16Vampir in den Griff bekommen und als Hobby Schrauber, der alles selber macht, weil man es eh nirgens kaufen kann, erreicht.
Hab dich Nähe Frankfurt gesehen warst hinter mir , ich war mit ca 230 - 240 unterwegs und du hangst mir am kofferraum .. als ich Platz gemacht habe um die Ausfahrt zu nehmen hast du kurz gegrinst und mich komplett zerstört ... ( hab n 5er bmw mit 300ps ) Respekt.

The golf weight 1130kg without driver, is a street car not only for quarter mile, in the Video they have 900HP and the gear ratio is very long, in the 4. gear 280kmh, in 6. gear over 400kmh

Sven Smeets a 6.0 liter ls2 is considered a small block over here. a big block is usually over 7 litres. and the worlds fastest cars use american built big blocks. and their not bulky they weigh less then a DOHC miata 1.8 and their actually smaller as well
It's not that these cars are all on the same level its the fact that a car built for daily driving around town can have the same performance as two "super cars." I like all of these car, I think the bugatti is a little over rated, but vw's are just awesome and this proves it.
Am I missing something or did the Bugatti start pressing on their brakes @55 Seconds??? Never raced any of the above cars before pretty sweet VW Golf 2 AWD though.
a project like this (if you don't waste your money on shit what doesn't work) costs 50'000$ more or less, and all was do it yourself. (you will burn 10k fuel+tire etc until you can setup the stand alone ECU if you don't make a mistake and burn down your engine for 20k...) much respect for the builder(s)!
KR Motor was one of the best in the VW Concern. I love that machine. It runs (in stock) about 235km/h. This motor ran in to the limitter. Had none motor like this before;;;;;

Boba Motoring fuck how I wish I would have pursued this plan a long time ago. lol i was wanting to build a very similar setup with a little team of friends but... plans changed.. it was between 3 different motor setups we couldnt come to an agreement on what to put in my mk2 scirocco gti. an awd 1.8t, or awd r32 bored out with custom 7.5.1cr pistons, or awd 5 cylinder audi 2.2l. Anyways beautiful setup, i know much blood and sweat went into it.

Stock Aventador goes 2.9 (100) Alpha12+ is more like 130 ;) TT Aventador does 100 in 2.2 so fuck that vampir again... can't get more than 300km/h all the other cars go 330 stock (TT Galardo has a world record time on 1 mile race)
The GTR on Inner-city traffic, will break down like an old lady with a heart disease. Most likely the GTR hasnt got AC anymore (power-eater) and if you hit London, they wont let you in, in Berlin they will not either. And try to find a parking spot with that fucking Veyron, and if you find one, good luck getting in.
Beschleunigung ist auch hier nicht alles. Natürlich steht außer Frage, dass das der Golf hier eine deutlich schnellere Ausgangsposition einnimmt, und dass dieser für Drag-Strecken konzipiert wurde. Außer Frage steht jedoch auch, dass der Veyron den Golf auf der Strecke auf kurz oder lang auseinander nimmt und durchgekaut wieder ausspuckt. 407 ist einfach deutlich zu schnell für einen "popligen" Golf. Haterz gonna hate, aber der Veyron ist ein Stück Automobilkunst, mit dem Geschichte geschrieben wurde, und diese Schüssel namens "Golf" ist nunmal kein nennenswerter Gegner, weil er einfach schon alleine in puncto Klasse und Stil auf Grund seines hohen Alters einfach hinten liegen bleibt. Außerdem ist das hier kein Wettbewerb, wenn man bedenkt, dass auch der Bugatti ein Volkswagen ist.
They are all doing a quarter mile time just in different places. You can have a top speed of 100k but if it takes you 3 years to get there thats slow. If you can accelerate from 0 to 300 in 8 sec thats really fast.

Things like uhm..carpets, a heater, reliability Radio etc are the difference between a bugatti and 16Vampirs VW. doesn't Sound like much, but the amazing thing about a veyron is not its pure speed, but the fact that it is as fast as it is, while still being a road car, that has luxuries is reliable and can do long journeys. The golf is a drag car, with only the purpose to go fast in a straight line. If speed is your only goal, yes, there is better stuff then the veyron. But that is not the cars point.

The fact the Golf was included in this video is a joke. And the same can be said about the GTR. Don't get me wrong, I love the R35 GTRs, but it and the Golf are terrible comparisons to the Veyron. Speed isn't everything when it comes to multi million dollar cars. There are various other factors that contribute to the price. Yes the Golf beat the Veyron, in a straight line. But at the end of the day you're still driving a piece of shit. Side note, I'm surprised no one has mentioned how the Bugatti is a VW too. ;)

Only a 1.8L engine BUT with a big ass Garrett 4202 turbo, running on 85% ethanol ;) The car is light weight plus putting all that power onto 4 wheels rather than the front makes a huge difference :)
while I am in awe at the Golf, with it being a blisteringly fast car I real don't think you can compare it to the Veyron (what about $2.5m worth) or even the GTR Alpha-12 (cost around $272000), the level of sophistication and refinement one receives with either the Veyron or GTR is simply not present in the Golf. If the 16Vampir was built on a current full option Golf R400 (with the 1000hp motor and drive train installed) I think you could then compare.
I'd say "Who needs refinement and sophistication?" when you have 1000awhp in a car that weight 910kg (2006lb) car? The Veyron isn't all that appealing to me, plus I both like and respect the R35 and its capabilities.... With that said, I'd much prefer Herr Kettler's Golf Mk2 over either of the afore mentioned super cars.

Orion I will agree to each their own.... But I wouldn't say that the style of golf that Boba Kettler prefers is dated. If you look at a 1974 model golf and a 2014 model golf you can see that the design is basically the same, granted that the more contemporary golfs are much more rounded than the older models. Aside from that the biggest difference is weight, a golf Mk5 weighs around 3100 lbs. dry while a golf Mk1 weighs around 2150 lbs. dry with every conceivable option.
For a real VW fan / lover this golf embodies much more than just speed, its design, exotic, cult, power, a big piece of mechanic trade, fun, speed, and much more... everyone likes an other type of car, so, to each his own car ;) @Boba Motoring: Super Video mit noch besserem "Darsteller". Der Golf fährt die 2,1s von 0-100 auch nur mit 550PS, der volle Druck ist erst ab 150kmh da, weil sonst selbst mit Allrad durchdreht.

gtr can do this 10 times in a row without anything breaking. the veyron can do it 50 times. the golf blows up 9 out of 10 times it's doing a run.
and the golf make it 200 times without braking, the engine works after 7 years very well ;)

Boba Motoring fuck how I wish I would have pursued this plan a long time ago. lol i was wanting to build a very similar setup with a little team of friends but... plans changed.. it was between 3 different motor setups we couldnt come to an agreement on what to put in my mk2 scirocco gti. an awd 1.8t, or awd r32 bored out with custom 7.5.1cr pistons, or awd 5 cylinder audi 2.2l. Anyways beautiful setup, i know much blood and sweat went into it.

The GTR on Inner-city traffic, will break down like an old lady with a heart disease. Most likely the GTR hasnt got AC anymore (power-eater) and if you hit London, they wont let you in, in Berlin they will not either.

Außer Frage steht jedoch auch, dass der Veyron den Golf auf der Strecke auf kurz oder lang auseinander nimmt und durchgekaut wieder ausspuckt. 407 ist einfach deutlich zu schnell für einen "popligen" Golf. Haterz gonna hate, aber der Veyron ist ein Stück Automobilkunst, mit dem Geschichte geschrieben wurde, und diese Schüssel namens "Golf" ist nunmal kein nennenswerter Gegner, weil er einfach schon alleine in puncto Klasse und Stil auf Grund seines hohen Alters einfach hinten liegen bleibt. They are all doing a quarter mile time just in different places. You can have a top speed of 100k but if it takes you 3 years to get there thats slow. If you can accelerate from 0 to 300 in 8 sec thats really fast.

Things like uhm..carpets, a heater, reliability Radio etc are the difference between a bugatti and 16Vampirs VW. doesn't Sound like much, but the amazing thing about a veyron is not its pure speed, but the fact that it is as fast as it is, while still being a road car, that has luxuries is reliable and can do long journeys. The golf is a drag car, with only the purpose to go fast in a straight line. If speed is your only goal, yes, there is better stuff then the veyron. But that is not the cars point.
Even so, that's hundreds of thousands of dollars for features you could have in a brand new $30,000 car/truck lol

***** I am not talking about golfs or cheaper cars in general, I am talking about this, a purpose built race car, that I know doesn't have carpets, blows up drivetrains, has an engine that probably needs to be rebuilt every season, and sure as hell does not do 35mg, nor has a radio. I love Golfs and I'd take a mk2 gti over a bugatti, but 16Vampirs car is something entirely different than a veyron. I hope this clears up your misunderstanding of my comment, I really dont mean to bash on cheaper cars, it is just comparing something like this golf, an unregistered race purposed car, to a veyron, which is something completely different. They are just not the same, both are amazing pieces of machinery in their own right, but for different reasons, and I think anyone who thinks they can really be compared based on a drag race is frankly wrong.

Drag racing is about pushing the limits, and close to the limit cars become less reliable and break stuff, that is perfectly normal and not surprising. remember that we are speaking of the most powerful 4 cylinder vw I am aware of, and nothing is bullet proof. Never said that about the veyron and not at all interested in a veyron vs. Henessy Venom GT debate.

The fact the Golf was included in this video is a joke. And the same can be said about the GTR. Don't get me wrong, I love the R35 GTRs, but it and the Golf are terrible comparisons to the Veyron. Speed isn't everything when it comes to multi million dollar cars. There are various other factors that contribute to the price. Yes the Golf beat the Veyron, in a straight line. But at the end of the day you're still driving a piece of shit. Side note, I'm surprised no one has mentioned how the Bugatti is a VW too. ;)

Only a 1.8L engine BUT with a big ass Garrett 4202 turbo, running on 85% ethanol ;)
The car is light weight plus putting all that power onto 4 wheels rather than the front makes a huge difference :)
Yea I always wanted to take an old E21 BMW 320i I put a turbo motor in it. Maybe 300-400 HP that would be fun.
while I am in awe at the Golf, with it being a blisteringly fast car I real don't think you can compare it to the Veyron (what about $2.5m worth) or even the GTR Alpha-12 (cost around $272000), the level of sophistication and refinement one receives with either the Veyron or GTR is simply not present in the Golf.
If the 16Vampir was built on a current full option Golf R400 (with the 1000hp motor and drive train installed) I think you could then compare.
I'd say "Who needs refinement and sophistication?" when you have 1000awhp in a car that weight 910kg (2006lb) car? The Veyron isn't all that appealing to me, plus I both like and respect the R35 and its capabilities.... With that said, I'd much prefer Herr Kettler's Golf Mk2 over either of the afore mentioned super cars.

I will agree to each their own.... But I wouldn't say that the style of golf that Boba Kettler prefers is dated. If you look at a 1974 model golf and a 2014 model golf you can see that the design is basically the same, granted that the more contemporary golfs are much more rounded than the older models. Aside from that the biggest difference is weight, a golf Mk5 weighs around 3100 lbs. dry while a golf Mk1 weighs around 2150 lbs. dry with every conceivable option.
For a real VW fan / lover this golf embodies much more than just speed, its design, exotic, cult, power, a big piece of mechanic trade, fun, speed, and much more...
everyone likes an other type of car, so, to each his own car ;)
