    Hello 😊👋🏼
Welcome to my channel. Hope you have enjoyed joining me today and seeing my makes from January 2021 ☺️
As always my measurements are as follows :
    Height 5ft 6
    Bust 36"
    Waist 30"
    Hips 37"
If you fancy following me over on Instagram - then here is the link to my grid :
    www.instagram....
So today I talked about the following makes :
The Tilly and the Buttons Indigo dress made using a viscose fabric from Sew Hayley Jane. I made this in a size 4 and added waist ties.
I have also done a sew along on my channel for this dress, which you can find here :
    • Sew with me - Tilly an...
Amy's stripey Agnes Hack dress from Tilly and the Buttons. I used viscose jersey from Minerva. Com which was gifted to me in exchange for a blog post. This was made in a size 2.
Here is a link to the blog post on Tillys site on how to make this dress :
    www.tillyandth...
Amy then told you about her knitting makes. The first of these was her Green Cardigan from the Tudor Roses book by Alice Star more. The pattern was the Margaret Beauford. The yarn was from virtual yarns.
The white cardigan was a pattern from hobby craft including the buttons and yarn
And finally her hat was a free pattern from Ravelry with spare yarn she had in her stash.
I then shared my knitting too 😊. I made a lemon Tee, size medium, from the We Are Knitters website :
    www.weareknitt...
Here's a code for you to be able to use and get a £10 discount :
    MGM52C2IW
My green dress was the New Look 6574 with a viscose twill fabric from Sew Hayley Jane. I made this in a size 14 but reduced the back seam by 2 cm each side (4cm overall)
Finally I made the Sew Over It Ultimate Pencil skirt, made in a size 12, in Ponte Roma, which allowed me to remove the zip.
This fabric was from Minerva. Com - again gifted to me in exchange for a blog post.
Please be sure to check out Claire who makes things channel :
    / thetidygirls
Thanks again for joining me. Don't forget to say hi in the comments, and share what you are currently making.
Have a good week, and happy sewing - and see you all again soon.
    Take care
    Angela xx

Your make are all lovely, sewing & knitting! I think the flowy dresses do look very pretty on you; it's fun to explore new styles and options, even if they may not end up being part of your main wardrobe menu. Just follow your heart - make/wear whatever inspires you to feel your best and most confident! Amy's knitting makes are beautiful - she is SUCH a talented knitter! fyi...i'm likely switching over to a new YT account soon so, if you begin to see comments from The Sewing Gemini, it's still me! Have a great Valentine's Day weekend!

I made this same pattern for a client in two different fabrications. I had to make similar alterations for her dress as well. I made a muslin/mock up before I sewed the dress. I was glad that I did that because it didn't fit right at all. It was worth the extra effort though, because like you, the final result turned out really well.

Angela, well done your dresses, top and skirt look good, also the hack you did with the Agnes top to make it into a dress for your daughter really suits her. I probably prefer the style of the green dress on you rather than the blue one but if you are not happy with the length of either you could always shorten them. Your daughters are really talented & the things Amy knitted are beautifully done.

Thank you for a much needed dose of positivity Angela. Love the makes, the green dress is beautiful. I feel exactly the same about the dresses as I've worn jeans and trousers almost exclusively for more years than I want to even admit to, but think that if I keep persevering with my Indigo I'll eventually be comfortable wearing dresses. Amy is totally amazing, I loved the Alice Starmore Tudor Rose rendition. It's taken me probably 25 years to knit with that kind of confidence - Amy really has it nailed - totally awesome! I agree with you re: Claire who makes things' channel, she really is such a darling lady and another must watch (along with yours) when you need a bit of a mood lifter. Hugs from a freezing snowy Sussex. xx

Just to add, there's a lovely beginner friendly cardigan pattern on Ravelry called Felix you can either get the jumper or the cardigan pattern, It's knit top down and there is virtually no seaming to do at the end, just sewing in of the ends. I really think you'd like it a great skill booster pattern. x

That green Cardigan/Jumper is fabulous well done Amy. I think the green dress with boots will be great, with shoes I think maybe 2" shorter but I like it on you, better than the first dress. Both are fine and look well sewn. I must get on and make myself the ultimate skirt I've had the pattern for ages just never got round to it, I have made the trousers many time just love them. Great vlog hope you and your family stay safe.

So pleased you made the skirt out of ponte as I've made the tatb bibi but dont like the panels as it interrupts the pattern on fabric. I shall definitely try doing the pencil skirt instead. I know how you feel about making something and then not being sure about it but I find that if i wear it a couple of times I quite often change my mind. I think as we get older we get less confident about trying new styles but I'm determined to be bolder this year 🙂

    • @DevonThreadTales

Aaaah yes - I like the Bibi skirt - but possibly better for plain fabric. I have worn the green dress a few times now, and I really like it. Still on the fence with the Indigo 😂
I agree age changes how you feel about yourself and how you express yourself with clothing. I'll take a leaf out of your book and try and be bolder!

Thank you so much for such a lovely mention Angela, that was so kind of you. The memory of my springs shorts all came flooding back, and the story behind them, ha ha. I’ve been thinking of making them again it a lighter weight linen this year. The waist tie on your indigo makes such a big difference, this smock fashion is a difficult thing to get used to isn’t it! The only time smocks have been acceptable in my life time was in pregnancy and even then they looked dated. I still wore figuring hugging clothes and skinny jeans in pregnancy! Lol. I too am trying out fashion I’m not entirely comfortable with. It was lovely to see your makes and your daughters, it’s lovely that you are inspiring them. X

What a gifted daughters you have 👍👍👍 so funny,i was just thinking about your Indigo dress and my thoughts were the same as yours, that you might have to shorten it a tad and you would be more reluctant to wear it, cause it looks very summery with sneakers ❤👍I myself wilk start to sew up a Hollyburn skirt, hope it will sew up without any misshaps ☺have a really lovely weekend

The green dress looks lovely and flatters you. If you want flowy it looks lovely. The Indigo I started off not liking at all, changed my mind when I saw some on line, bought it and should have stuck with my first instinct. I really dislike it!! It looks ok on you, but don't think it really flatters. The green one is more youthful. Live all the knitting.

I have the same pattern as your green dress and also the fabric. It looks lovely on you and very elegant. I was planning to make a indigo top but having seen your dress I think I might do the dress instead. With being such a bold pattern I think the indigo would be a bit too much for that fabric

With dresses like the stripe dress that have a heavy skirt that pulls down the top it’s a big help to add clear elastic in the seam on the skirt to the bodice.

Hello Angela. Thank you for another lovely video it is so good to see you. The knitted garments that Amy has knitted are just beautiful, I do enjoy knitting the only problem is that I am a "tight knitter" so everything that I make ends up small.... The top you knitted is just gorgeous too. I love the New Look dress you have made, I do have that pattern and I have wanted to make it for a while now. I am in the process of losing weight through a medical supervised diet, I have Type 1 diabetes and I am insulin dependent, the problem with insulin is that you gain A LOT of weight, but I have lost 10 kilos and I will be losing a lot more too (fingers crossed). Recently I have completed the Alcott dress by Cashmerette in a rayon jersey from Spotlight (Australia) and am about to start on the Cashmerette Lenox shirt dress, the other items I have made have been for my partner ("The Italian Boy") as he really needed some new t-shirts. Take care darling girl and happy sewing, I am still learning the coverstitch machine, how are you going with yours?

      @DevonThreadTales  3 года назад +1

Thank you so much!! ❤️❤️❤️. Thank you - Amy really has down an amazing job this month - bless her!
Goodness - that must be really difficult, I really hope that to all goes well, and that you lose the weight that you want too - but more importantly you stay healthy with the care of your diabetes support and medication.
Sounds like you have made some lovely things, and have some lovely things planned too 🥰
My goodness - the overstitch machine still terrifies me, but I am using it more and more. At the moment I still have only used it to hem items!
Thank you so much again - take care 🥰

I love your knitted top.....agree its too short....perhaps you can ask Amy as she is so talented to extend the length of the ribbed section......it would look great and you would feel far more comfortable wearing it. Wow! What a talented and imaginative family! Beautiful knitware and sewing. I love the viscose blue dress - I think it looks nice without the ties, too! But I understand your desire for a more form-fitting outfit. I believe, also, that the ties on that dress are absolutely in the right place. I think when you say 'natural' waist you are actually a little low. One more thing, as you were doing your sew along, when you tried on the blue dress before it was finished - I loved the cap sleeve look on you. I think you should make another one for summer without sleeves. You really did look wonderful in all your makes! Thank you for sharing.

Have you tried wearing your tilly and the buttons dress with a belt or something to break up the print maybe. I think shortening it might help too. I thought I might suggest wearing a black long sleeve top under the jumper top you knitted to get more wear out of it. I know you said you wanted to make a longer one but can't you pull it back and just add to the length? I hope I may have been some help. Please stay well. Love you videos.

If you have any wool left for your lemon tee knit I would knit a rib cuff for the armholes as that will make it look more of a cap sleeve. Also if you have a nice piece of lace you can add it to the bottom and that will give you the length you wanted xx also you should check out roseryapparell’s you tube Chanel as she does a lot of indigo style dresses but she slightly tailors the bodice and I think you would prefer that adjustment for this style of dress xx

I feel like I could be having this conversation with you! I really want to be able to wear a swishy flowy dress but it is totally out of my comfort zone and I think that I look weird because it isn't fitted! I think the Indigo looks much better with the tie and I also agree that shorter always seems more flattering! The green dress is more my kind of thing too-it looks fab and sure that if you did it in a plain fabric esp a black, it would look v chic and not like a curtain even with long sleeves!! Would be a lovely Xmas party dress (if that ever happens again!) Thanks for putting up this video -I love your style!! X

Great video as always. I have similar measurements to you and am also a bit on the fence when it comes to the Indigo. I think if you have a decent bust then maybe a lower neckline on it would be more flattering and have this on my list to try. The Wanted t-shirt you were wearing is very flattering and looks amazing on you. Can I ask what size you made up and whether you used a viscose or cotton jersey? Thank you, Jan

Thank you so much - really glad you enjoyed it. Oooooh that's a great idea about the neckline - I may Give that a try too.
I made the size 44 in the wanted tee. I think that this is the right size for me, but this fabric didn't have a massive amount of stretch in it, so I think in a cotton jersey it would fit even better. This was a Ponte.
      Hope that helps

The green - gorgeous fabric by the way - dress I love and you definitely suit the style although I'm not so sure of the length and think maybe it would look more flattering knee length? Just a thought and sincerely don't mean to offend. Loved the 'Horrible Histories' dress up.
