    This is so much fun to do with 13 year old budding crafters! I made print plates for 4 (another adult came along and had a ball!), precut card bases and layers to print on, and the girls had a blast! I sent them home with the cards they made, a brayer, lots of items for textures, their print plate, paint, and more card blanks-all in bags I made for each girl. It was a wonderful 3 1/2 hours for all of us!

    Great suggestions & ideas. I think many see how great Gelli prints look & buy the plate, then never get around to actually using it (ummm ... guilty!), but a quick & easy "multiple ways to use" video like yours may push others (and me) to move from "I've got one of those" to, "I love using mine!" Thanks for getting me to take that step !!

BUT your excitement has got me inspired!! I have got to play with them. I really like the backgrounds They make for cards but I've been to busy with all my other new products.

    Your instructions were super helpful. I'm dyslexic and anything where you work in reverse logic is difficult for me, but I understood once you showed the results. My only issues was that you show the results more steady, it was hard to get a good visual on some of your pretty papers. Other than that, thank you for this, I just got a gelli plate yesterday and want to give it a try.

    Thank you SO much! This is very useful - great techniques. I like that it did not drag along, but honestly all of the very fast movements made it hard for me to watch. Kind of headachey now. Anyway, pulling away a little, having the camera not move, waiting for focus? Have you made one of how you use all of the amazing papers?

    I bought a Gelli plate and watched the wrong video first. She was using the brayer to spread the paint…and getting rid of all lines. I mean it was perfection! So of course I couldn’t do that and my first prints looked like a kindergarten project. I also don’t make cards and was just trying to make custom-colored origami paper for folding boxes. I will try some of these techniques instead!

    love it! thanks so much for the share. i just bought a Gelli plate for a class i'm taking next week and can't wait to get inky. would you mind sharing which cardstock you used and/or like the best for this technique? tia

    • @crafttestdummies
      @crafttestdummies  7 лет назад

      +dlumakana if I am using it for cards, I often use 90 pound weight card stock. But if I am layering it to collage on to other things, then text weight copy paper is just fine!

    Have you ever tried using the plate to print on a wood plaque? I haven’t been getting good results. Perhaps because the wood is too rigid?

    • @crafttestdummies

      Cut it up, melt it down in your microwave, and repour it in a container with a smooth bottom.

      I found out that a lot of people are having the same problem. This was the response from Gelli:
      Hello! When you are finished printing, we recommend you clean your Gelli® plate and pat it dry with a paper towel. To protect the printing surface when you are storing your plate, cover both sides of the plate with a plain white sheet of copy paper. Be careful to smooth out the paper with your hands to ensure there are no air bubbles in between the paper and the plate. Now you can place your plate back in the clamshell until you are ready to use it again. You can discard the mylar sheets that come with the plate. It is possible for air bubbles to form between the Mylar and the gel plate surface leaving a small bubble mark. These are insignificant and do not usually present any problem in printing. If bubble marks do show up on your prints - try the following: Place your plate bubble mark side down on a hard, flat surface (the gel printing plate contains mineral oil, so do not place the plate on a surface that may absorb mineral oil) and let it sit overnight. The gel material conforms to the surface it is laying upon - so in the morning the bubble marks should be gone. If you are still having problems with your Gelli® plate, please email info@gelliarts.com.
