Next to Greninja, Hawlucha was an amazing Kalos mon for Ash. It’s so prideful and protective of Noivern. That isn’t to negate Talonflame, Noivern, and Goodra, I just think it’s winning streak was in third place. Pikachu and Greninja being Top 2, and Talonflame, Noivern, and Goodra being below it. @UCXpdXnw3FFK1Evw7VOMC8Bg the main thing is that sash rarely gets activated. Rocks are super common, which nullifys sash, and hawlucha can often get hit by moves that leave it out of focus sash range. Compare this to a seed, where all you need to do is switch it in after your desegnated terrain setter has come out
Hitmonlee with normal gem fake-out is my favorite, easy to set up and base 130atk and it gets good doubles support moves like wide guard and coaching as well
Hawlucha was one of two Pokemon that got me back into the Pokemon after leaving in Gen 4. One boring afternoon channel surfing, I decided to watch a bit of Pokemon to see what Ash was up to those days. It was the episode where he was training Hawlucha to use Flying Press and I was like "What is this weirdass thing? Flying and fighting type? That's kinda dope...". The next episode had Skrelp and it reminded me of Horsea. Gen 1 nostalgia hit extra hard so I jumped up, went to Gamestop, and got Y that same day.
I reckon if Flying Press counted as Flying *or* Fighting, whichever dealt the most damage, it would make Hawlucha a demon. Even without an easy way to set up unburden, being able to put both stabs in one move slot would allow for great coverage or even more utility/setup potential.

WOW! Hawlucha might just be one of the best if not the best Unburden mons GameFreak ever created! If it gets in Gen 9’s Pokédex, I hope it remains as threatening.
Dude, I love Hawlucha so much! It's design & culture is something I really admire! I'm glad it received lots of love, with having a unique typing at the time, with its own signature move, which I belive they still haven't used for other mons. In the anime being one of Ash's main team in Kalos, having a majestic & flashy style to its fighting, while showing a compassion side with being like a brother to Noivern. All while being pretty strong in the competitive scene, having a really good typing, decent stats that can be pushed further easily with the core mechanics of the game (Substitute, Tapus, switch moves, etc.), & with GF giving it better moves & new items like the seeds to be utilized with its movesets, I can tell it's still gonna be strong competitively for generations to come! Let's give it up for the Mexican Luchador Hawk!
My love for this Pokémon started with USUM and then once I found out about Power Herb Sky Attack with Unburden, this thing has been one of my favorite competitive Pokémon ever.
I'm genuinely happy to see that Hawlucha is such a good competitive Pokemon, as it's one of my all-time favorites. Its design is immaculate, its origins inspired and its signature move is the first of its kind. Hawlucha is truly a spectacular Pokemon and one of the best modern-era Pokemon ever made. I hope to see it in Scarlet and Violet, since the region is very much within its wheelhouse. Go! Go! Hawlucha!

Vaporterra. Even if you turn off the Exp. Share, the games are still easy. It's not just the Exp. Share that makes it easy. It's the way it's programmed; from the teammates, to the movepools, the sets of trainers and the broken Megas. I never played any Nuzlocke Pokemon games nor I never will. But did they make them somewhat difficult?
@@jaretco6423 The central rule of the Nuzlocke is that if a Pokémon is KO’d you cannot use it again. And while most gym leaders besides Grant and Korrina likely won’t be a problem, there are several minor trainers in the game that will be. I used a team with G-Max Lapras with Tornadus and, usually, Rillaboom and Hawlucha in the back. It was incredibly good on ladder and Hawlucha was a proper MVP
If I were to give hawlucha anything else I’d say a 5 point buff to attack, not sure what I’d do to give it an edge in doubles, possibly a physical multi-target move that’s really good
Great video! I'd love to see a video on burmy's split evolutions Mothim and Wormadam over their journeys through the lower tiers taking advantage of unique typings on Wormadam's side and a unique ability on Mothim's side.
Unburden Hawlucha with mirror herb, swagger, and acrobatics is GOAT. In the first turn you get increased speed, two attack increases, a confused opponent, and access to a high powered STAB flying attack.

Hawlucha was one of my favorite XY mons and saved the competitive metagame for me in USUM. I hated facing Lando-T and the Tapus in USUM and the fact it could get the best of both of them made it the equalizer the meta desperately needed. It's incredibly underrated in SwSh. I'm really pleasantly surprised to hear how good it is! It's a Pokémon many so frequently forget about (myself included) so to hear it's been tearing things up since it's debut is something I never would've expected
It had a theme in the Anime and was a father to Noivern.
Really? Man I gotta rewatch the X and Y anime
More of a brother to noivern
@@turnipbuthimself9929 it's honestly the best seasson group from the reset era and that's coming from someone that actually likes Best Wishes a lot. Of course the pre-reset golden era is still much better, when Ash didn't have permanent amnesia every 2 years and you could actually enjoy 4 regions of throwbacks and character development.
@@supermaster2012 😐
I like how it's unburden usage changed over time
Gen 6: Sky attack and power herb
Gen7: sub swords dance+sitrus berry or terrain seed + sub
Gen 8: all of the above but now it has brave bird and close combat options.
Imagine if it came out in gen 5 when the gems were everywhere
Hawlucha: I never thought I'd die fighting side by side with my counter.
Tapu Koko: How about with a friend?
Hawlucha: Aye. I can do that.
(And yes, that includes Goodra, given how it’s presence in the league kinda hindered its reputation)
Dude could've used less flying types tho
Comments TLDR:
- The shiny is awesome
- Its very good in playthroughs
I hate it because it's true
one more *Insert randon ass facts about luchador*
Im happy that it did so well. Hawlucha is one of my favourite fighting type pokemon
Hawlucha is probably my favorite user of Unburden, which is one of the coolest abilities overall.
It's one of my favorite sweepers with white herb, focus sash, or even a terrain seed.
@UCXpdXnw3FFK1Evw7VOMC8Bg the main thing is that sash rarely gets activated. Rocks are super common, which nullifys sash, and hawlucha can often get hit by moves that leave it out of focus sash range. Compare this to a seed, where all you need to do is switch it in after your desegnated terrain setter has come out
It’s the easiest to use too, compared to Sceptile due to more usable bulk and better offensive typing.
@@IgnitedQuils Better defensive as well imo
Hitmonlee with normal gem fake-out is my favorite, easy to set up and base 130atk and it gets good doubles support moves like wide guard and coaching as well
@@skimaskedabi *base 120atk
Hawlucha is actually fantastic as a utility mon in doubles, took it to top 10 in the showdown ladder, love this pokemon
Hawlucha is one of my all time favourite Pokémon. Plus, before Gen 6 came out, while in the Pokémon society at uni, we made guesses about what gen 6 would include and I guessed there would be a fighting/flying type
Great video, I always liked Hawlucha, it's definitely my favourite Fighting type Pokémon. About my favourites, I'd love to see an analysis of Liepard, it's an interesting Pokémon with an unique competitive history.
My absolute favorite. Just hatched my very own shiny about a month ago. I usually try fitting my precious lucha boi in teams when available
I'm so glad to see Hawlucha was used THIS much THIS well!
Seeing one of my favorite Pokémon be considered overpowered, suspected for several bans AND be an absolute *MONSTER* in Gen 7 OU, the fastest competitive Pokémon metagame, just brings a smile to my face...
Hawlucha is a Fighting/Flying type Pokémon introduced in Generation 6. It is known as the Wrestling Pokémon.
What a beautiful and ingenious design. Awesome to see it was so thoroughly excellent competitively too. It should definitely be in Scarlet and Violet.
Let it be known than Ash's Hawlucha broke a Trick Room using X-Scissor.
That moment was so cringe.

WOW! Hawlucha might just be one of the best if not the best Unburden mons GameFreak ever created! If it gets in Gen 9’s Pokédex, I hope it remains as threatening.
. . .
Hawlucha after using up it's item: I'm four parallel universes faster than you.
Having participated in OU tournaments on PSD during gen 7, Hawlucha was terrifying and at times infuriating lmao
Hawlucha was really cool in gen 6 then in gen 7 and especially gen 8 it exploded it became incredibly good to an insane degree
Ahhhhhh hawlucha the Pokémon with most unique type combination and a recent team member of my kalos team I give it 10/10
This is my favorite Pokemon. It's a pleasant surprise to get this video much sooner than expected.
I loved Hawlucha! He is one of my favourite Pokémon and if I find him ingame, he is neverrr leaving my team haha
Hawlucha is by far the most well designed Pokémon that can easily bear the flag as a national mascot
🇲🇽
It feels like the odds of getting Terrakion covered decrease week by week :(
If the Pokemon to cover decrease in number then terrakion's chances increase no?
There, now shut up.
Hawlucha: You took everything from me!
Galarian Zapdos: I don't even know who you are
My love for this Pokémon started with USUM and then once I found out about Power Herb Sky Attack with Unburden, this thing has been one of my favorite competitive Pokémon ever.
So frickin cool to see my all time favorite pokemon since its release be so powerful
I love seeing a personal favorite being so good in competitive battles.
Hawlucha's story is one of starting from the bottom and wrestling his way into super stardom, and I just love it.
It was literally uu, literally how is that better than something like serperior
@@BeeEmpress because I like Hawlucha more than I like Serperior

Really loved the design of him one of the mons I had to get in gen 6
I love Hawlucha so much!! Absolutely power house with a Fun typing! Hopefully it gets an Evolution in Scarlet/Violet!
Alright! We're getting more Gen 6 Pokemon!
Go! Go! Hawlucha!
i know nothing about competitive pokemon, but i do know that i love using hawlucha in regular gameplay
We also must mention that Hawlucha was best dad. Ya know, with Ash's Noibat/Noivern.
THANK YOU PATRONS!!! Hawlucha is my favorite
I remember Hawlucha as being one of the only true threats to my Mega Venusaur in Showdown. Never used it but boy the way it could cleave through defensive monsters like Mega Venusaur was near unparalleled.
I loved Hawlucha. I named my first female one Buena Girl and my first male one Rikochet. I don’t remember if I bred them together or not, but I do know I chose those names as a Mucha Lucha fan, regardless of shipping.
Kalos’s third gym leader rolling up with either a Hawlucha or Mega Lucario is high key bad ass
Yep. Shame she was piss easy though. Not that it gets any better from there.
@@jaretco6423 Turning exp share off and/or doing a Nuzlocke makes it difficult tbh
The Furfrou double battle, the Axew with Dragon Rage, and several trainers in Reflection Cave, Frost Cavern, and especially Victory Road with TM coverage are really tricky in that regard.
Vaporterra. I know the rules of Nuzlocke. I was just wondering if they updated the difficulty than the original games.
I love hawlucha in gen 9 VGC. Swagger with mirror herb gives it an instant turn 1 +2 boosted itemless acrobatics and it’s so fun.
11:44 "Rillaboom went back to darkness" is just a randomly funny sentence to me lmao rip rillaboom may he find the light again soon
I used a team with G-Max Lapras with Tornadus and, usually, Rillaboom and Hawlucha in the back. It was incredibly good on ladder and Hawlucha was a proper MVP
If I were to give hawlucha anything else I’d say a 5 point buff to attack, not sure what I’d do to give it an edge in doubles, possibly a physical multi-target move that’s really good
Wow, never realized hawlucha was such a top tier 'mon before! Pretty cool to hear of something taking OU by storm like this!
One of my top 5 fav pokemon. Love this lil dude
Been waiting for this for sooooo long
My friend and I will always remember the moment when Hawlucha broke Trick Room in the anime while Ash was battling that gym leader lmao 🤣
considering how many times i’ve watch lucha sweep, i thought it had way better stats. only 92 attack? i guess acrobatics and terrain really make this thing a giga threat
Glad to know that Hawlucha was so awesome
Just used hawlucha and rillaboom to help me win one of my tournament battles. Such an amazing mon!
Hawlucha would’ve been insane if Gems were never removed, because of how well Flying Gem, Unburden, and Acrobatics synergize.
That's my boy! I was worried I was hallucinating reminiscing on how good it was back in XY/ORAS, I used it as a Sky Attack lead on my main team
I don't like using Hawklucha, but I know better than to underestimate it. Thing has swept me quite a few times.
Given that this is my favorite Pokémon, I’m excited to learn how to use it.
Hawlucha was one of my favorite XY mons and saved the competitive metagame for me in USUM. I hated facing Lando-T and the Tapus in USUM and the fact it could get the best of both of them made it the equalizer the meta desperately needed. It's incredibly underrated in SwSh. I hope to see it dominate legendaries and ultra beasts alike one again in Scarlet/Violet.
This is one of the few Pokemon that I know that have a theme song, it is "flying satoshi" and it's amazing
The biggest thing I remember hawlucha for is the speedruns of X/Y and OrAs (not sure if the route for the alola games still main hawlucha) so it's interesting to see how it did in comp
YES YES YES YES YES MY FAVORITE POKEMON FINALLY GETS AN FSG VIDEO :DDDDD
Hawlucha fits in perfectly with the new region in SV. We may see it again wreaking havoc for the 4th time
We need more pokemon with this typing

No, it has to be special.
@@cristhianmlr He will always remain special cuz unburden swords dance set is busted af. We do need more Pokémon with flying fighting type though, they're cool.
Not only is this a great singles pokemon, it is also s tier in in-game playthroughs, outspeeding and 1 shoting everything, plus, in ultra sun, you get one for a trade at route 3.
Hawlucha is so unique and I honestly think it's really cute, plus it has an amazing shiny to boot. Hatched a shiny recently and pairing it with a psychic terrain setter in doubles makes it deadly and it's super fun to use
I only grasped Hawlucha's power when that karate girl in Reflection Cave swept my team with her Hawlucha
No way! That's what happened to me too.
