Wide Guard on Roggenrola is a really long chain breed, involving so many egg groups. Alomomola (water 1) Mudkip (monster) Turtwig (grass) Paras (bug) Dwebble (mineral) Roggenrola.
+Solerest Its common in VGC 14, not so much 15. Mostly due to Heatran, Thundurus, Intimidate Lando and bulky waters (Milotic / Suicune / the rare Jellicent) being so common
You know what would make these tournaments 10 times cooler? They utilised that audience and put the two trainers in a ring each facing a console opposite ends on a stand about 10 metres apart from each other. They also have a big tv on each side in front of them that screens what is also on their little screen consoles in front of them. Then have one or two big screens so that the audience can also see what is going on. Make the sound echo the place also to get the audience glued. Would make it much more exciting than having them sit in a little room. -dreams MAKE THIS HAPPEN POKEMON COMPANY!
And they give the trainers name badges to what their pkmn trainer names are! and below where they're from and maybe another badge for what rank they are!
Wow, I had to look up how Gigalith learns wide guard and in case anyone is interested, it learns it through quite possibly the longest chain breed I've ever seen: it learns it as an egg move from Dwebble, who learns it from Paras, who learns it from Turtwig, who learns it from Mudkip, who learns it from on of four possible fathers. That one move represents six generations of pokemon breeding O_o
At the last match if charizard would have used protect then subtitute then protect again the sand storm would have faded and then heat wave would have K.O. the tyranitar too. Still very very close game.
Oh for Pete's sake Justin Flynn. Of course Aura Sphere hits. You know why? BECAUSE IT HITS ALL THE TIME except if the Pokemon uses Protect, Detect or used the first turn of Fly related moves.
*Protect* blocks all effects of an attack done to the user. So the ally of whoever used the Protect will take 100% of whatever damage they would've sustained normally. There are variants of Protect that protect your whole party, like *Wide Guard*, however that only blocks moves that would've hit your entire team at once, like Rock Slide. There's also *Mat Block*, which will protect your entire team from all status effects that turn, but it's not guaranteed to go first. If you're looking for a move that will reduce all damage your party takes, and will stick around for awhile, go with *Reflect* or *Light Screen*. They're reduce all damage your team takes from physical and special attacks, respectively, by 33.3% for several turns.
Are you talking about spread moves? Cos it still does 75% (not 50%) because as you'll notice, the moves animation still goes onto the pokemon that uses protect, it will do 100% damage if it's the only other pokemon on the field.
Like lets say.my opponent goes for EQ and I I make one of my pokes go for the protect, what will be the damage percentage for the pokemon that didn't go for the protect?
Ack... If only the Charizard substituted on that last turn. Stall out the Sandstorm for one more turn and there's a chance that the Heat Wave would have finished the Tyranitar... :/
Yes, as long as they are not inappropriate/offensive and, like Thegamergirl said, not named after a different Pokémon. You're also not allowed to give two Pokémon the same nickname.
MrDotious I think during battle competitions, they don't display nicknames anyways. In 2011, I could see my nicknames but during my 2012 matches, they cut them out.
I really liked the way Simon played the first round. I was actually suprised he lost the 2nd but I'm glad he got the win. Coming from a fellow New Yorker. Props to the other guy tho
Wow. That was a bad last move with the charizard. He does know that the sandstorm boosts tyranitar's special defense right? Use sub protect to stall out sandstorm first then attack.
the turn he mega evolved charizard in the 3rd battle then used sub, he shouldn't have mega'd, that made him lose the weather war. then at the end his charizard was the fastest Pokémon, he should have substituted, at worst it would give him another protect turn to exhaust the sand, ttar would have went down if if sand went down. great battles tho!
+Garlic Bread (1GR33NTHUNDAH) Officials preform hack-checks before contestants make it to the stage of play. He's there to ensure the timer isn't abused, and to check Hit Points.
Lumify | Gil Time stalling isn't enforced in VGC due to the in-game timer. A player can use every allocated second if they wanted, and many players do use timerstall if they see that as a path to victory. There is time stalling clause in VGC rules, but it does not connect to an actual rule within VGC. This clause is carried over from the TCG ruleset, which requires the judges to time each round and match manually. Right on abut sportsmanship though.
+Hurricane0039 No, there is no championship singles format. The "official singles" is the in-game Battle Spot. As was mentioned in this video, there are single battles with teams of 3 used as a qualifying tool at VGC.
Correction, there are no singles tournaments that can give you CP towards a worlds invite. The closest things to an official singles format are battle spot and side events at larger events.
+Schroeder Luck Although, on second thought, Rock Slide would have broken the Sub, and he would have been Spored. The only way out there was to hope for a crit or a Rock Slide miss.

"Obscure pokemon" More like he doesn't use the same 4 that everyone else does
***** ACtually Talonflame is much more rare imo than Kang and Rotom.
+Solerest Its common in VGC 14, not so much 15. Mostly due to Heatran, Thundurus, Intimidate Lando and bulky waters (Milotic / Suicune / the rare Jellicent) being so common
Yup
Simon Also was pretty unique. You don't see much mega blastoise.
@@RandomGaming4zNow Now un Galar... Hope you are happy
tyranitar with that Darude-Sandstorm
i see what you did there

Clever.

That focus blast clutch tho
I have nothing but respect for Ashton!
Just catching this now. What an amazing match, well played both players!
These battles are so fun to watch :)
It’s true I’m from the future it’s more entertaining than that trash sword and shield

Or from a Probopass who learns it by level up
+Ren Hikorra LOLOL
Or you can just hack it
Fantastic video. Ashton's team is very original
why was he wearing a fedora over the headphones?...
Why not?
***** You two have created a conversation more entertaining that the actual video.
Leith Marshman oh quit it you troll :)
Leith Marshman Oh really now? So why'd you reply huh
Theres no fedora, its a trilby
I'm on max volume and everyone sounds like they're whispering... -___-
At the last match if charizard would have used protect then subtitute then protect again the sand storm would have faded and then heat wave would have K.O. the tyranitar too. Still very very close game.
Why didn't he have sturdy on that sawk, could have easily taken the ttar
Inner focus to beat Kang
Got that fedora and bandanna... How can he walk out of his house and thinks that he looks cool...
No, Lynda. He knows he looks cool.
He's 2edgy4me
Oh for Pete's sake Justin Flynn. Of course Aura Sphere hits. You know why? BECAUSE IT HITS ALL THE TIME except if the Pokemon uses Protect, Detect or used the first turn of Fly related moves.
it's a prediction
One question, if a pokemon in a double battle protects, will its ally take the 100% damage instead of 50% that would have been shared?
*Protect* blocks all effects of an attack done to the user. So the ally of whoever used the Protect will take 100% of whatever damage they would've sustained normally.
There are variants of Protect that protect your whole party, like *Wide Guard*, however that only blocks moves that would've hit your entire team at once, like Rock Slide. nicolas Ramirez Earthquake would do 75% of the damage it would have done in a single battle under the same conditions.
It's funny at the beginning battle preperation Ashton start to peek every 4 seconds while Simon is so devout
Ack... If only the Charizard substituted on that last turn. Stall out the Sandstorm for one more turn and there's a chance that the Heat Wave would have finished the Tyranitar... :/
charizard subs, ttar breaks it with rock slide and amoonguss spores gg. there was nothing ashton could do after letting heliolisk go down
I realised this pretty soon after I posted the comment.
The only time a commentator has ever acknowledged the shinies 😂

13:19 is mega blastoise really faster than mega zard y?
Nahh, tailwind was up
Colin Brady It wasn't.

Such solemn 'WHAAAAT's by the commentator. Every occasion he did it it wasn't that amazing of a thing
Whoa! Did't Ashton cox play sheik at the SSB3DS prerelease tournament? I can't believe it took till now to realize that
Great games. It's a shame Simon couldn't make top four but he still played great and should be happy with his success.
My favorite pokemon is Flygon as well.
I really liked the way Simon played the first round. I was actually suprised he lost the 2nd but I'm glad he got the win. Coming from a fellow New Yorker. Props to the other guy tho
Cybertron in the back 8:20
Wow. That was a bad last move with the charizard. He does know that the sandstorm boosts tyranitar's special defense right? Use sub protect to stall out sandstorm first then attack.
Justin Flynn has really good hair
Leith Marshman GUUURRRLLLLLL You ridiculous.
ok!
What do they write on their note books?
Moves that the pokemon have used so they remember, who outspeeds who, amd the opponents team, and any other useful information.
so many shiny's i dont have a single one
I hate talonflame
Talonflame is so cool, but I didn't admire his shiny form
I don't care how it looks, its a win button
And thats why he uses it they play to win
easy drop a stealth rock or the like
It always has Flare Blitz and Brave Bird. ALWAYS RECOIL
They try to sound so excited but it sounds really silly haha good match.
Lol, Cybertron!
Who's is charzard black?
the turn he mega evolved charizard in the 3rd battle then used sub, he shouldn't have mega'd, that made him lose the weather war. then at the end his charizard was the fastest Pokémon, he should have substituted, at worst it would give him another protect turn to exhaust the sand, ttar would have went down if if sand went down. great battles tho!

can someone tell me who that adult is beside them? what is his purpose?

They also check if the candidate is time stalling. And prevent anti-sportsmanship.

If it's life orbed I think he should've flare blitzed gigalith cause of the sun
I want Ashton to win, he has a cool hat too.
I had literally NEVER seen anyone use Sawk competitively before today
Why s charzard black?
Nice wheres is gonna be in 2016
Cybertron screaming and jumping in the background....
this commentating is really cringy
The whole thing is really cringy. Idk why this was recommended but I clicked out of nostalgia. Why do Pokemon fans have to be so incredibly creepy?
Shofu isnt commentating? What?
Is there a championship category in which fights are 1v1 ?

He should have switched out T-Tar earlier to get rid of the sun so that Charizard can spam Solarbeam.
Was that girl in the crowd recording with her 3ds camera lmao
Ashton should not have gone for that last heat wave, with another sub, another protect followed by heat weva would have won him the match
Loved Ashtons team but not a fan of that hair and hat :/

Jeez, how do these people breed out Shiny Competitives with that few amounts of hatches? My luck sucks.... Even with the masuda method.
Shining using power save?
I've seen Ashton trade around on PS! so it's a 50/50 chance that someone powersaved it.
Plus they probably get someone else to breed for them, or breed on Y and transfer it to another copy to not waste space
what a clutch rock slide miss
If he would have subbed and protected to stall out the sandstorm, heat wave may have KOd TTar without his SpD boost. What a poor play -_-

that heliolisk did a boss job in the second match
ashton seeking so much approval from the crowd.

I think he should've just kept protecting until the sand was gone

two things I got from this match;
1,) Duy Ha is a beautiful name
2.) *SPOILER*~~~~ Talonflame avoids
