I watched Tarja singing this song in 2014 in Brazil, it was perfect. She's amazing and, yes, I cried watching it!

wow I'm Brazilian and I still hope to watch some Nightwish concert and have some floorgasm. Obviously I liked Tarja a lot but not much today. Without Nightwish it don't click to me.

It's really only the first impression though. Especially for girls, when you see his hair and beard you can see how much work has gone into getting it to this level, it's not a homeless guy who eats children lol. Still he may look kind of scary, but in most shows he looks quite happy

@@pacificcoastpiper3949 In a video of her reaction to "Pisces" by Jinjer, who are Ukrainian, Katrinka says that's her neighbour country, so I'm guessing either Belarus or Slovakia, which would be nice, because I'm from another neighbour country - Poland. I have just discovered Katrinka yesterday, and I can't stop watching the reactions to the songs I've seen on other reaction channels already. I found out she notices a lot more things others don't, but I do, and that's what I like about Katrinka - her level of attention to details and her sensitivity. Keep up the good work!

You should listen her in full operatic singing (something from her classical career) and her newest solo stuff, she is now not only classical/operatic singer, she use many styles and techniques.
Can you react japanese artist Kokia and her song "Il Mare Dei Suoni", live version from 2012? Please, Kokia is amazing singer, songwriter, composer, arranger and producer, she has classical and operatic music education, but only in few songs she singing more operatic, in this one she singing in this way. I recommended her on many channels, but she is not that much popular, because of it, almost no-one want to react her songs, it's so sad, because she deserves to be more popular and to react her music. Please, can you react her?

I recommend you listen to Tarja's "Undertaker". "Phantom of the Opera" in Nightwish's tour was the end of Tarja with Nightwish. She was fired though she had been planning to leave anyway. Both Nightwish and Tarja could have avoided a lot of bad press at the time. It affected both negatively at the time. However, both survived and thrived.
"Undertaker" is a good one, too. Very dark, she sounds great singing it. From the same album I recommend "The Living End".

Long time fan of Nightwish & overall metal head. You have by far, given THE BEST dissection of their voices. It was extremely educational - The way you explain their voices. You didn't interrupt or stop at awkward points. When you did, you had a very good point & this was the best reaction video I've seen of this video. Thank you so much for being you!!! This was needed

When I heard Tarja for the first time live it was life changing (in more than one aspects XD ). She was better than on solo albums, glorious, amazing. It was...surprising to be honest, the level of quality. She really cares for her voice (little moments of her speaking and drinking hot water with ginger and honey to soothe her vocal cords, so she can give better performance), cares for fans, for quality and experience. Just magic.
And I always found Marco to be awesome

@@kimberlyh.1090 FYI there are plenty of Tarja fans lurking on Floor videos too it is not exclusive to one group. Anyway I'm more of a Floor fan but I do enjoy the Tarja versions of some songs so I do watch plenty of Tarja stuff too. The reason is not jealousy but because the band has been playing some of the older songs in one step lower key since Anette's days (in order to carry less guitars around - wrong decision imo) so I do like Tarja's Stargazers and Sleeping Sun better than Floor's versions mostly because I like the original key.

Regardless if your a fan of Floor or Tarja! Nightwish was formed with the voice of Tarja by Toumas, Empuu and Tarja forming Nightwish in highschool 1995/96 and they made 5 albums before Tarja left the band

This might be their best show of Phantom of the Opera (at least what videos we have). But this concert was so unfortunate, Tarja's vocals aren't her best at all. And it was their best quality recorded concert. Unfortunately she had a flu and fever, and when you compare to her other concerts... they are better.
I love Floor but I also love Tarja very much. I always loved her, and will always love her. Her voice colour as you said is so beautiful and powerful.
Difference (at least for me) : Tarja sings the song and I enjoy it. Floor delivers the song and makes me part of it.
Zenith Quasar Absolutely agree with you! Floor Jansen is an amazing vocalist and she may be more versatile. IMHO, she fits Nightwish the best. They're doing well with her. However, there's just something otherwordly about Tarja's voice and her delivery. I adore both women and hopefully in the future, they would collaborate in a new song.

I am waiting Nightwish + Henk Poort Phantom. The studio band was really good, but not Nightwish. This one is the best, but the Floor and Henk version is nice Also... but not in par with this Masterpiece!

Tarja and Floor are two completely different singers. Tarja has that silky smooth, rich and strong tone, like warm, sweet butter. Floor shines with her crystal clear, cool sound, like an alpine mountain stream, clear as a bell, and she uses it to range around and do many different things with it. Both beautiful, both incredible, both completely different.
I love Floor so very much (maybe even too much 😵), but this particular video is the reason why i'm hanging here with you, all the highly respected fellow Nightwish folks. This is a fantastic performance from the band and the two of the leads. And after this they sacked her, which led a some kind of the national trauma to us. But that's a ancient history for now and today Nightwish is a band who has topped German album charts with three different female singers. Quite an achievement! Thank you, Katriinka and maybe in the near future the Floor's and Henk's wonderful version of the "Phantom". ☺

The RUclips version of this song doesn’t do it justice. The live show / album on dvd through a decent audio setup is spine tingling 😎 (it’s end of an era just in case you didn’t know)
Also Nightwish album uploads. My gawd, 144p videos have better audio quality than Nightwish HD uploads! They only have album image HD quality and the audio is deliberately sabotaged. No doubt that you would buy an album or a stream. I have NW albums, and listening them after listening NW official upload... what a difference!

@@ebbistrangeling I know. What I mean is that Nightwish wise i hope Floor doesn't cover it. it's one of the few songs by Tarja showing a non-opera versatility. Soon all songs by Tarja originally will be referred as done better by Floor. That I don't want.
@@embran8486 well, for me that song has been sleeping sun and though i really tried to not like floors version, she took that song to new level, filling it with new life, as she manages to do with so many of those old songs - sahara for example never got to me before. you might actually be surprised and like it if floor sings walking in the air 😁
as for stage performance, they are very different and shine in their individual ways; but i watching end of an era now, bearing the history and the present with floor in mind, i cant help but notice how much happier the entire band seems to be and how much fub they have playing together. they are a true band, a unity. watching performances from the later phases with tarja could also be "featuring tarja" in the sense that she enters the stage to sing, hardly even interacts, then she leaves the stage... makes me sad

I am NOT some Tarja fanatic groupie butthurt over her. At the end she indeed was trash band member wise, whether under influence of that manager or not. I actually am not even that big on her vibrato. She's often shaky & her mid-voice is much better. Another reason i like that song. She has full control there.

@@haraldschuster3067 I've seen Anette live with Nightwish around 4-5 times at least. Sure, she had some worse gigs and some better gigs, but still did fine live most of the time. Bigger problem is that we don't have really live videos of her with mixing board sound
People who suggest Anette could only sing in studio and she was made wonderful by studio magic, are sad and ignorant. All of them have bad performances, and Anette's voicals suffered on the tour. And yeah early on she sang some soft songs too rock style on stage because she was more used to it, but she got better on that.
@@Aurinkohirvi - It's not Studio Magic in terms of effects. You can just have as many takes as are needed. And unless you're quite tone-deaf: Anette live was usually very often off center, if not off pitch. Tarja sometimes had the same problems when she went low. But Tarja, even in her worst moments, was usually "a little flat" on some notes in her lower range whereas Anette was off key. And Tarja only wobbled at the lower notes, her upper range was usually flawless. Anette has a much smaller comfort zone where she's pitch perfect and sounds amazing. Outside of that range - low and high - studio: ok, live: meh. And, unfortunately for her, Nightwish songs pushed her out of that comfort zone. And on a lengthy tour the problems add up, that's right. I am not critizicing her for her choice of style. If she wants to rock a slow paced song: All power to her. Floor does that from time to time as well (see Nemo, Sleeping Sun). The only issue I have with Anette is her narrow range in which she's pitch perfect and her tendency to fall off center outside of that.
@@haraldschuster3067 Anette's narrow range? Acccording those vocal range videos Anette has the widest range and sings the lowest notes of the three ladies. But all of them are pretty much identical there. Singers very, very seldom get to their lowest and highest notes. About Anette and Tarja there is a lot of debate are they sopranos or mezzo-sopranos. So obviously many people disagree with you and think Anette's comfort zone is actually lower than soprano.
IMHO singers don't stay in what their notes books say, each song is different each time. Studio songs can change a lot compared to live performances. It bothers you? Never bothered me!
