What Is Pentecost or the Feast of Weeks?

  • Why did God choose the Old Testament festival of Shavuot (Hebrew name) or Pentecost (Greek name) to pour out his Holy Spirit? Why that day? If everyone understood Peter’s sermon, why was that preceded by the disciples preaching in a variety of other languages? How does the Spirit-Wind-Breath of God in the Old Testament prepare us for what he did at Pentecost? In what way is this event the anti-Babel moment that also signals the Messianic exodus? In this week’s video, Chad Bird guides us through Acts 2 to unpack the multifaceted Hebrew background of this festival.

I have been wondering a lot on what was the Old testament background of apostle Paul , the vision of Jesus on road to Damascus .
What Paul saw in the vision from the old testament eyes to make him convinced in Christ Jesus .

I’m unclear on something here… if only the 11 were in a ‘house’ when the Holy Spirit came upon them, who were they speaking to in the ‘languages’ they were given? Who were the ones who heard each in their own language? Thanks 🙏🏼

Well friend there must be two counts to feast of covenants /feast of weeks /Shavuot. because you or me cannot plant summer wheat in ABIB and expect it to be ready in the 3rd month or NOT? ~~ " Are there not 4 months and then cometh harvest?"And the flax and the barley were smitten, for the barley was in the head and the flax was in bud.
32But the wheat and the spelt were not smitten, for they were late crops.' (NOT ready in the SPRING) not a wise farmer you are
