As an avid kayak fisherman in Hawaii, I’ve watched literally a hundred fishing videos. At first I thought you were like the rest, just showing off their fishing skills. Kinda like letting everyone know what a badass fisherman they were. But I have come to respect you because you are by far the most thorough teacher to many that want to start fishing. You are candid and honest. I know that selling your brand is necessary to allow you to travel and fish. One is never too seasoned to know everything and I have picked up many of your tips and modified it to my style of fishing. If you ever in the area (Hawaii) , maybe we can teach you a thing or two. Keep up the great work! Love watching the dynamics with you, your fiancée and your dad. Mahalo and Aloha.
Hey man. I am getting into fishing as my 8yo daughter expressed interest. Your video is really useful. My daughter and I quickly learned 3 knots from you and were able to set up 3 bottom rigs really quiclky. Thank you, and we can't wait to cast out and try to get some fish.
I love the video, i wanted to take my boys fishing and was never taught how to so i didnt know where to begin this helped tremendously and were going fishing tomorrow. Wish us luck lol
I remember watching the video where you and your dad taught the dropper knot! Been using it ever since! My go to knot for pier fishing!!! Thanks Branden!!
excellent video and description of the problem you are solving... vision and dexterity. I wear bifocals now and hate tieing my rigs on my kayak in rough ocean..so I rid everything at home in relax, calm environment. plus it gives me enjoyment off the water
Thank for your videos. My comments is that I am loosing more rigs than tingling my line for this reason I am not using swivels and clips. I am using only knots to accomplish this exact same rig. The preparation at home is the T knot drop loop and a perfect loop for the weight.
I moved from southeast Virginia 27yrs ago where we togged the Chesapeake bay bridge rock piles. Haven’t even thought of tautogs since then. Dang good eating! Thanks for the nostalgia and wisdom!
Hi guys, I love what you are doing with your show. First of all, it's very informative, secondly you are very sincere and upfront with your viewers. I guess my comment would be is where I fish near the Indian River Inlet in Deleware,it is very rocky. So instead of losing my whole rig I use a rubber band to hold my sinker on. That way when a Tog takes it down a hole the rubber band would break, and you would keep the rest of your rig. Some people like it some don't. Just a thought.
I wanted to thank you for these videos, they're really very detailed, they're simple, for amateur fishermen like me. So, a big thank you from France. I'm in Martinique, and I'll be trying out your little tutorials👍👌
As a commercial fisherman, I only just started Sport fishing with rod n’ reels. So much to take in vs what commercial demands I’ve been using a Carolina rig setup with a slip sinker and a #4 hook. I’ve found it so fun and relaxing casting out and reeling in nice n slow while watching for the tip bounce. 2nd time out, haven’t caught anything yet. But only time will tell. I’ll try this set up next I think! Thanks for the awesome video
Awesome mate thanks for the shoutout! If you found this helpful you gotta check out my website, I custom make a ton of gear to help you with your next fishing trip! www.heyskipperfishing.com 😁
I appreciate you guys alot, I swear to review my order however I'm going to my house in Carolina on November 18th for a week and would love to have pictures to go with the hey skipper gear! thank you guys for everything!
Nice video. I use somewhat the same type of rigging, but with a variation to the weight. Instead of clipping the weight. I use a lighter test line in between the clip and weight. So if the weight gets snagged and there is a fish on. I still get the fish, but lose the weight. It's a trade off. I use 30-50lbs main line. But 15lbs line between the clip and weight. I like the hook leader to sit 24-30" above the weight, with the hook leader 8-10" off the main line, with live bait (shad of minnow, hooked once so the bait is alive and swimming around until it's bitten). Anyways...
You need to change the name of your channel to “Hey Professor” because I definitely have received an education from you! I assume my diploma will arrive in the mail soon? Seriously though, your videos provide exceptional entertainment and invaluable information! Many thanks to you and Erin, and keep up the good work!
really good video, you can pretty much do anything with these knots and your tutorials on each are great. definitely saving this video to refer to and practice. thx for all the great content, forever grateful
I have been OBLITERATING the fish for 25 years with 100% artificial inshore saltwater using one knot..... The Pallomar (sp?). BUT ! ! ! I want to switch to using bait. You just GAVE me the best single video tutorial for an easy to rig and equally effect rig for fishing. THANK YOU ! THANK YOU ! THANK YOU !
I have a tip you may want to try. Why use a snap swivel for the weight? I use a swivel on the line to leader connection but I just have a bottom loop for the weight and do the hook the way you do. Thanks for all the tips I've learned from you.
So do you connect the two way swivel directly to the end of your main line? Or does your main line has a swivel clamp at the end of it to connect the two way swivel?
@@HeySkipperI am a subscriber of ur channel from India. In India local anglers use 6-hook tied together in a bunch. And they use wheat and rice flour balls as bait. But i feel it needs some modification. I was wondering if i can use that 6 hook setup to the rig u explained in this video. Cud ur rig works to catch Carps? Plz let know
😂😂😂 that big hook had me laughing. Like who would actually think yo use that on a small fish 😂😂😂 it's funny cuz I know you were serious people out there really be doing that
Hey Skip, is the direction of the hook critical? I have heard it doesn't matter if the hook faces down or up. I tend to prefer when the hook rests and is hanging, the point to gap is open towards the outside or up. Is there any issue with either? Thanks for sharing.

Lol I'm watching like hey that box is pretty cool and your like .. people who can't see well anymore maybe their fingers don't work right and I'm like I'm missing two fingers on one hand and blind as a bat maybe this guy's on to something maybe I should get one of those 🤔🤔😂😂

Last thing the ocean needs is more bits of broken rubber... use a standard piece of string. It will break before the fishing line and will not bounce or break on cast
Hey skipper, can u please go try and fish in other countries and explore the variety of fish and techniques? Also I heard fishing in UAE (Dubai) is very good.
In my " personal opinion" using the very first knot you did I'd use a simple polymer knot on the top swivel as well as the bottom for the weight.. much faster and in my " opinion" stronger knot but I love this vid and very well made
I wish my hands were not to shakey and had bad nerves so I can do these knots.. I only use the surgeon knot but this allows me to fish which I log to do and catch some fish

Awesome video! I am now semi retired and have gone back surf casting and this is by far the best video on dropper lines I have come upon. Thanks!
This is essentially the favored Tautog rig used in Ocean City Md at the inlet and other locations. Thanks for the tutorial.
It's the same rig I use at the 4th st bulkhead, I tend to stay away from the inlet, too many people for me
You are my go to guy everything fishing.. ..The best TEACHER in fishing on youtube for me...very knowledgeable and honest...thank you

I use this to catch catfish bait a lot with the exception of adding beads instead of a float and using a dual hook setup. Very effective
It’s a classic rig that works everywhere!
Still think the t knot is the best one I've seen from you guys use it on every rig now ✌️

Irish in rocky places too but fresh water. Try a three way swivel with a lighter line on the sinker end.
Lighter sinker in rocky areas help with no snags!

that’s what I have been doing!
So do you connect the two way swivel directly to the end of your main line?
Or does your main line has a swivel clamp at the end of it to connect the two way swivel?
Question whats the use of the bottom swivel? I typically tie the line to the sinker straight away.
Really good information. Articulate and well presented modelling of the set ups. Thanks for your time.
The yellow line really helped! I’m still thinking I’ll just order some rigs, salted baits before I head south in late February
Yellow line is so visible! Thank you for supporting our baits and rigs, I’m sure you will catch a ton on our stuff for your trip.
Your video is one of the BEST I’ve seen thank you so so much my friend 👍🏽 you’re amazing and so informative 😊

How to keep salted baits? Do you need to put in fridge? I live in Philippines.
Cheers for the vid i think your first knot was a three turn figure of eight well thats what wee call it thanks keep up yer guid work.
Thank you!
Very nice. I am going to try this tomorrow.
What is the yellow line your using in this video
Do you use this for o ean fishing? Like Halibut?
Is this for pier fishing or casting from a heights?
It works every which way!

Great, useful video. Is floro-carbon required? can you do same with Mono? If not, why? thx again!
Nice video mate, have you got any videos about shock leaders, like when to and not to use them.
How do you order your sand flea floats?
What kind of bait are you using with this rig?
Nice work 👍
Can we use these rigs for surf fishing
Hi Brendon can we buy your products hear in Australia yet last time I tried I couldn’t

One suggestion - instead of attaching the sinker with a clip, attach it with a rubber band. Then if you get snagged, you can break the rubber band if needed and not loose your whole rig.
Cool idea! Have you tried this with anything much over one ounce? I would think any heavier weight would snap the rubber band when you cast.
That’s a good idea, if you lose your sinker at least you won’t lose your whole rig
Last thing the ocean needs is more bits of broken rubber... use a standard piece of string. It will break before the fishing line and will not bounce or break on cast
A weak double knot will achieve this sacrificial goal.
I use paper clips
Thank you I learn something
I love a classic fish finder rig. I've had almost no luck with a 3 way rig.
