Every Game 4 the Lakers and Celtics played from '69 to 2008 was a classic.
'69...famous Sam Jones buzzer beater to keep Boston from going down 3-1
'84...the OT game where Magic choked in the clutch and Bird hit the dagger on him to level the series and Boston never lost control
'85...Dennis Johnson's buzzer beater to tie the series at 2
'87...Magic hits the shot that defines the decade as seen here, Lakers come back from 16 down to basically end the series
'08...Celtics erase a 24 point deficit at Staples Center to go up 3-1 and basically secure the title

Born in 93. I think that true fans of anything should learn the history and make judgement with an open and more informed mind. I'm watching old footage to see if old players were less "skilled" and from my eyes, if you have the fundamentals and always hustled and pay attention, you were one of the best on the court.

What an epic performance from both Magic and Bird. It seemed as though Boston had this one, but LA turned it around quick with their relentless attack. The legendary games between those two teams were what made the 80s the greatest decade in NBA history.

Wow, wow, wow, this one stirs up memories of me and my dad (we lost him nearly two years ago) watching this epic game in real-time! One year out of high school, I'd been raised on the NBA and NCAA. Dad (born and raised in New England) was for the Celtics, and this Arizona-raised boy was all for the Lakers (it was Ewing's Knicks and the Phoenix Suns that put Dad & me on the same page).
This series was a great one, and I will always remember Magic's "junior" sky hook -- but I'd forgotten the rollercoaster second half and wild finish!
I'd also forgotten Greg Kite's cheap shot. He's lucky he didn't end Worthy's career. When JW came up swinging, I didn't blame him a bit.
Which reminds me of the 1997 EC Semi-finals between the Knicks and Heat. IMO, Patrick Ewing and his teammates reacted naturally enough to the sight of P.J. Brown flinging little Charlie Ward off the court. I thought Ewing and the rest showed restraint, all things considered! But thanks to a brand new rule, five Knicks -- Ewing, Starks, LJ, Allan Houston, and Charlie Ward) were suspended over Games 6 and 7 (two players in one game, three in the next?), and Dad and I were denied the pleasure of what we predicted would be the ultimate Knicks-Bulls match-up. OUR TURN. The regular-season match-ups between the Knicks and Bulls gave us hope, and we really thought '97 was going to be The Year the Knicks Took Down the Bulls and Won It ALL... Instead, the new rule gave the series win to the lesser team, the Heat, who would advance to the ECF and get their butts handed to them by the Bulls, 4-1.

21:00 - Wow, that really was a big factor that doesn't get talked about. Kareem got away with goaltending there. If that basket would've not been taken away, the Celtics win by one and the series is tied at 2-2. That's a call that needs to be talked about more. Still, one of the greatest games ever.

The Junior Skyhook gets tons of very well deserved love, but the biggest play of that games was Michael Cooper’s three pointer that cut the Celtic lead to three with a minute and a half left.
