@@TheIrrelevantYT i actually recently bought the blu ray on sale. So i finished rewatching the show yesterday. And damn watching TTGL on a big screen in 1080p is an experience
@@thefittoaster1764 The original has Kittan and Yoko's reaction to Simon's Giga Drill Break (announced by the "Finishing move" phrase), which was only done before once with Kamina against Thymilph in both the anime and the movie. That small reaction shows that Kittan and Yoko (and probably the rest) are surprised because they see Simon doing something that was believed to be purely from Kamina, which in turn resonates with the motive of Simon's speech.
I got back from watching the English dub premiere of Childhood's End and it was so amazing to finally watch Simon's speech dubbed and on the big screen! Really hoping they soon make it available for home release for everyone else to witness!
I actually just got back from watching the english dub of Childhood's End in the theater myself! I cried so much, especially when this scene started to play. So happy they finally dubbed it and had a theatrical release! Very much looking forward to when it's released for home viewing.
That's cause Leeron believed in Simon from the very beginning. He has an eye for potential, it comes with being a mechanic. Also Steve Blum playing a flaming, ultra fem mechanic will always be amusing.
Everytime i watched the both Gurren-Hen and Lagann-Hen I realize how the revision should be done about something. Anime was already near perfect and movie changed those little things with different perspective make the show so much better and much more emotional it just makes you love it even more.
It's always cool to see they decided to double down on the Trigger style in Gurren/Lagann hen. The black thick lines help bring out more intense colors in the intense moments, eyes look deeper and more serious instead of looking gloomy. The Team has come a long way and really learned that the public enjoys the way they produce the projects as a while rather than some aspects.
imo, done so much better in the show. May not LOOK as nice as the movie, but something about Simon having to start from square one, slowly build himself back up into the leader he was meant to be resonates with me much more than an overblown flashy drawn out battle.
Lol, wow, I just saw this movie just a week ago. Good coming back to see the difference between the series and the movie. It's good to see the vast difference between them, knowing they didn't just reuse most of the same clips, but actually made an effort to improve it. Still prefer Yuri's over the top voice acting, though. It just *feels* more epic, probably because it better fits the massive mountain of Ham that this show has.
I love both versions of this Anime. I first watched the sub, and the dub second. I personally look for acting first on my english voice actors, and then how their voice matches the character second. I will always prefer a good actor over a similar voice. Btw, just three words for you eng dub haters: Leeron's english voice. Thats is all.
Kailani Chan I thought all the Dub voices were excellent and fit the part, it’s one of the few anime where the dub is done perfectly right. I only ever had a problem with how bitchy Yoko sounded at times.
1:09 not trying to be rude, but considering the situation in the special it just looks like simon is trying to produce a move straight out of his ass. that scene just looks and is executed better in the original format when he was being pinned by genma and was in a pinch.
I agree, in gurren hen what caused simon to struggle like that to start flaskbacking to kamina, but the flaskbacks in gurren hen was longer and more epic.
It's so weird because to me Yuri always matches the energy of Simon so well to the sub, I don't speak for all of you but my God everytime I hear him as Simon I just get goosebumps
The difference between having more time to animate and draw art vs. a relatively limited time. I wish anime back then already followed the current day concept of seasons. It would've made the anime look like the movie.
Gurren Hen, for me, does not compare to the emotional story told in Episode 11. Yes the visuals are superior but they edit small details that make the experience much more personal and emotion heavy. Things such as Simon seeming much more ordinary when combining and making his speech rather than god-like; the approval and reaction from his peers for his action, and the spirial energy surging after accepting Kamina's death.
prefer the way Simon gets out of his slump in the series, because he gets 9ut of the hole by literally digging, while in the movie he climbs the robot to save nia, which us something kamina would do and not Simon. By digging out of the hole himself he shows that he should not just try to ve his brother but to drill through the way he knows
I like that in the original, the focus was on Simon, and dislike that in Hen the focus shows Kamina. That is Correct, for it to be on Simon, not Kamina.
Gurren Hen English Dub!!! Many have demanded it and have been silenced! But those demands will someday form into a double helix and pierce the heavens! XD
This ISN'T japanese versus english. This is Series vs Movie. The scene in episode 11 is identical in both the english and japanese version. Though i suppose it isn't surprising to see fandumbs use this as a "DUBS SUCK" video, despite the videos description clearly stating he merely couldn't find the subbed version. Or, y'know, THE TITLE OF THE VIDEO. Some people seem to deliberately make themselves appear as stupid as they possibly can.
Should of just kept the movie audio and tried to line the orig episode actions together with the Hen movie 1, some people don't really understand how much more perfect the animation and art but also the voice acting than the series. If you already seen it then you would not be bothered with the parts cuts from them, great streamlined animated movie with a deep message.
Gurren hen is the version that's on Netflix I think because I remember watching that version where Simon fought against the not mole guy (I forgot his name) and I saw GL on netflix
The dub was fucking epic. The fact that there are people who actually think that Kamina in the dub sucks when Kamina in the dub is voiced by KYLE FUCKING HEBERT shows that some people are just elitist pricks who will hate anything that isn't in the original Japanese, even if it is amazing. Not to say that the original Japanese is bad. I actually like it quite a bit, but I do think that the dub is better. Mostly due to my subjective opinion, and the fact that I can actually understand English. When a character has a really good feel to them AND can speak English to me with an anime, I really enjoy it more.
I personally prefer Dubs over Subs as a general rule, but I have found one series where I infinitely prefer the Sub, and that's "Naruto". I've never really understood how non-Japanese speakers can fully enjoy a series in Japanese. The big thing for me is that you have to constantly look away from the action at the words to read. I previously thought that that would I always take you out of it. That does happen for me a little with Naruto, and even Gurren-hen, but NOT LAGANN-HEN. haven't watched Gurren Lagann subbed, other than the movies, but the movies are DAMN great, especially the ending of Gurren-hen and the entirety of Lagann-hen. It got to the point where I was just watching and subconsciously "absorbing" the words I didn't consciously read the words, but I understood what they were saying. That was also helped because I had already seen the dub.
SouthWestScott the movie has more scenes and clips. It’s not like you can match English dub and the Japanese at the same time. Movie vs series, can’t slow down the epicness.
gurren lagann is my fav anime and i started watching sub then found out that there was a dub version so i switched mid way i re-watched a couple months later in dub and now i have to watch it in sub because theres something different
While both movies reuse footage from the show (cleaned up of course to fit the higher quality), a lot of scenes are redone with new footage. Both movies do an epic job of redoing the show, and tops the show in many parts. It's a must watch if you love the show.
Wait there's two different versions of the show? What the actual fuck why didn't they just use the Japanese version instead of remaking the whole thing

I like how in the original, the reaction to Giga Drill Breaker is there. It adds more the the fact that Simon is truly powerful.
I think there's a bit of confusion here, the original is on the right, and doesn't have Guame's reaction because he didn't die in that fight.
@@thefittoaster1764 The original has Kittan and Yoko's reaction to Simon's Giga Drill Break (announced by the "Finishing move" phrase), which was only done before once with Kamina against Thymilph in both the anime and the movie.
