I don’t know that I could ever free dive, but I love the thought of it. I often daydream about it. The one time I went scuba diving, I was the first off the boat. As I guided myself down the anchor line of the boat, I was wide-eyed looking all around me. I was surprised that is was not as quiet as I thought it would be. Low sounds, clicking sounds, but oh SO peaceful. As I landed in a small puff of the sandy bottom, and looked up, I saw that no one had followed me. I seemed to be much deeper than I had been told we should be. Only 40ish feet, but the boat above me with tiny little legs around it, was all I could see. I began at first to feel a chill up my spine, being alone. Then I took a breath and knew this was a gift. To sit there on the ocean floor and see all around me the vast world that was all for me. It was a beautiful experience & I treasure that. Eventually the rest of the group made it down. Someone had gotten sick going in and that had deterred the group. All was well!
Freedivers are amazing. Ive been watching everything i can the last few days on freediving. Some stories have been tragic and some beyond human comprehension of their accomplishments! I can barely swim. But its so wonderful to see others that are brave enough to show us our beautiful ocean and what we can really achieve if we put out minds and bodies to it. I dont think ill be going for any records...but it has inspired me to try swimming again! Wonderful...thank you x
hats off. and congratulations from a man reborn. like hearing myself about the machine and machine no more, just with French accent. Crete pushed me into freediving, it`s cousine into being happy through small things. then by chasing big things I saw small things wane and die. then back to life again. and now in Ireland, it`s time to get back into freediving after years. one last piece of getting back to being myself again. God bless thanks for the word.
My girlfriend and I visited Crete last summer for 10 days. It is an absolutely amazing place to visit. The historic sites, the beautiful clear water, and the people made it a wonderful vacation. I would love to go back again someday.
This is inspiring and many positive reminders to live a healthy lifestyle, thanks each of you for putting this together and Frederic for sharing your journey in and out of the water 👍🏼🗝
Most freedivers (myself included) do not dive with snorkel in mouth as there is a greater risk of injury or death in the event of a blackout. Any reason why you do in some shots?
It's seems apparent also from his technique that he has not had training, which is a shame, because beginners may copy what they see in this film, which is otherwise excellent.
Hi Frederic I liked your video very much and I desire to start learning freediving can you share some tips to enter relaxation and breathing exercises I would appreciated God bless your beautiful family thanks
i do the same, i learned dolphin kicking with bi-fins before my first monofin i think it's more efficient that scissor kicking, and my distance in pool DYN was the proof.
salam, saya dari indonesia dan terimakasih untuk video yang sangat menginspirasi. bagaimana pesan yang anda sampaikan untuk tetap tenang menjalani hidup.

@@ReelThings Thank you. I think about being underwater often, and wish I lived closer to the ocean.

Awesome. What a lovely little film. And so very true. That's what I would call, Right Livelihood.
Beautiful and inspiring. But my friend, you are still part of the machine.

Probably just hasn't had formal training. Not that you need it. It just helps us stay safer.
It's seems apparent also from his technique that he has not had training, which is a shame, because beginners may copy what they see in this film, which is otherwise excellent.

Freediver Rule # 1: Do Not Dive Alone
amazing!
Real great !
Bravo !
It looks like all that coral is dead. Is that the case or is that just what it looks like there?
Five people have clicked Don't like on this film! What's wrong with them? How can you Not like this video?

i think it's more efficient that scissor kicking, and my distance in pool DYN was the proof.

A voir et a Vivre !!!!!!!!!!!!
Merde! I got caught... Practicing breath every morning, the next step will be free diving
Wow
Why are you keeping the snorkel in your mouth ?
Unless you leave on the trees, eat bananas, and dive without nothing, like Tarzan, part of you still always belong to that "machine "
i live in crete too i m native
What i have learned from many pro free divers is not to dive alone. There are chances of you going blackout
Absolutely fabulous piece of work, informative, educative, entertaining.
God bless and God speed Frederic.
Dive safe all.
