The song isn't about suicide, the song is about "Imposter Syndrome", by the quote in the song "I feel fear for the very last time" it means he's leaving his emotions to be who his fans want him to be and expect him to be. He's lying about himself about who he is. He has all this fame but feels like he doesn't deserve it. He also feels like his fans are giving him too much power and choosing quality or quantity. By "too much power" that means his fans are saying "do whatever you want", which makes him feel like everything he does just earns him money without actually doing much effort because of his fans giving him too much power and that makes him feel like what he does is just giving him money without much effort, like Midas the god. Everything he touches turns gold, he gets rich without any effort. Also, when he says "I'm losing touch, you get me?". He's saying that like mentioned, Midas, he's losing touch with his fans and surrounded by fame and fortune, and no longer feeling like he's part of humanity, but like a god. "..they let me lie to them..." mean that his fans are not even suspecting anything about what he's saying and just believes him without any evidence of what he said was true or not. @@ChristianOkuthe Thank you, finally I've found a comment that doesn't relate this song to suicide but more to a mental problem and the dark side of being famous
The lines “So high up I’m near divine”, “lean in let go” and “I feel fear for the very last time” always made me think he was on top of a building and “leaning in” to commit self-unalive
With “so high up im near divine” meaning he’s on a tall building, “lean in, let go” meaning lean in over the edge, and let go as in let go of his stress, past and everything else in his life, followed by i feel fear for the very last time meaning him being afraid to do it, or fearful during the fall, for the very last time.
“lean in, let go. i feel fear for the very last time.” he’s committing suicide via falling from a high place, metaphorically, emotionally, and physically.
If the song is about going too fast and choosing the wrong path, acquiring massive wealth but still feeling empty, and then at the end it is revealed it is a video game for people trying to escape reality, then what is the solution? To me, that final verse could also means that the man is about to commit suicide. "Lean in, let go, I feel fear for the very last time" that part might refer to him jumping off a highest place as he reminds himself (and to us) that this will be the last time he had to put up with all the stress and high expectation from society as well as the phobia of not living up to his image because hey, no point of caring all that if you're more dead than you already figuratively are.

It’s always the most upbeat sounding songs that are the most melancholic in nature, loved the in depth analysis, hope to see your channel get the recognition it deserves sooner or later.
It's not about "fullfiling your dreams makes you depressed. It's about selling your life to other people that don't really care about you, and will leave you when they get bored of you, it's about validating the real importance of life instead of things that only gives temporary joy, it's about how idealizing someone can also make they're life a living nightmare
I love the sudden shift in the meaning of the chorus, at first, it feels as if it's boasting, “Staying still, eyes closed, let the world just pass me by” At first, it's “Oh, just look at me breeze through life with no worries” but when it plays again a second time, it becomes “Life is moving past me so quickly, I can't even keep up with it”. “Pain pills, nice clothes, if I fall I think I'll fly” When you first hear it, it's almost as if he's indulging in the riches and the ecstasy his fame and fortune have given him but when it's played again at the end, it's the only things that he has in his life now, it's devoid of everything he once had and is reduced to medication and accessories. “None to guide us” At first, it's a statement about his freedom, no one is pulling him on a leash anymore and telling him what to do, but on replay, it shows how lost he is and that he needs someone to guide him through life. “I feel fear for the very last time” This one is the easiest to decipher while at the exact same time being the darkest, at first, it's a rush of ecstasy that makes him feel as if he has no more shackles of fear but when you hear it again at the end, he literally means he's going to feel fear for the VERY LAST TIME as in he's going to commit [REDACTED]
I really had no thoughts of the lyrics until now. Watching this video gave me a new appreciation for an already good song and a new life lesson. Thank you
Bro if you take a look at every songs lyrics you'd see how horrifying most rap songs are. Honestly the fact that the musicians know we don't listen to the lyrics is the strangest part of it all.
I still love this song and it’s lyrics. It makes me feel powerful. Especially when it’s slow, reverb and 8D. I love listening to it, especially when I’m at school with my headphones or at night.
I love this video, and I completely agree with a lot of your points. However, I feel like you left out the importance of substance abuse in the song. Throughout the song, the protagonist expresses his temporary relief from his wild life through drugs/probably pot, and that is his only way to cope. From lines like “eyes closed, let the world just pass me by,” and “so high up i’m near divine,” and “lean in, let go,” we can see this is sort of like being high, and the lean in let go is probably a reference to leaning in to take a hit of a blunt, and then feeling euphoric. The same can be said about the ending scene, where the room is seemingly filled with smoke, and their eyes are bloodshot. The friends he’s with as well probably encouraged this substance abuse behavior, as they only appear in the story after the Lion receives a better, faster car than the original. The only time he probably feels a connection with them, is when they’re high together, avoiding their problems.
"let the world just pass me by" might reference the change in the human time perception when on weed as often people experience life much slower/faster depending on the substance.
I saw an interesting take earlier where the lines "If i fall i think i'll fly" mean he commits suicide after abusing substances like the weed and pain pills.
The last lyrics of the song are literally mentions that he is: High up (could refrence being under the effect or marujana but likley also literal) lean in let go and "feel fear for the very last time" which might refrence jumping off the building and that being the last time they feel fear as they die after that moment
I have my own theory of the end of the song being about an overdose leading to his death. Because he is at an all time low in his mental state and is desperately seeking true happiness . So he decides to overdose on drugs to numb the pain completely and put him self in a state of pure bliss like when he says “world is below so high up I’m near divine” before he eventually dies “lean in let go I feel fear for the very last time”. (And the music fades away)
The end of the music video where it shows the animals in reality playing the game hit *way* too close to home. (12:57 - 13:14) I mean, holy shit it’s like he deliberately chose to air my dirty laundry. I often dive into a world of gaming that i know is fake, to ignore the reality and stress or disappointment from life around me. Most ppl on the outside think I look perfectly fine, fit, healthy and in a good mood most of the time, and have no idea that I’m actually super depressed and just try not to think about how shitty I feel in reality, and that on some days I feel like I’m dying inside. Sometimes I just wanna go into a corner and hide, and often times can’t even explain to ppl why I’ve made bad choices cuz I’m not great at putting my emotions or thoughts or the way I feel into words verbally.
Im in that situation right now . im pretending to be alright with what is happening to me but in the inside its nothing but lonelynes and suffer. And I think whoever made this song is in this situation. Thanks for explaining the true meaning of this song (and probably everyone's life )
The ending about reality made me feel a little depressed. As an artist/story maker, I always think of my little stories to avoid my responsibilities and look into the stories and fantasies I want to live in. I am still a teen after all, I can still dream.
Bro I've been wanting a video like on this song since the day it came out 5 years ago thank you so much for this analysis I've always wanted to know what it meant but I tried to understand but this makes it way easier👍
Wow… I only ever knew the “popular music artist” approach and that was it, but I never could really wrap my head fully around the song’s meaning. This explains SO much around the end, especially the characters becoming realistic, and the Game Over screen. I just assumed, “that’s for a random horror factor”, without realizing it had the intentions of details I missed like “WRONG WAY” where they were actually heading down a path of some sort. This is a great analysis, and I loved watching it! (did you say you made Petscop content too?.. to be honest… this is the first video that has introduced me to your channel. so i’ll definitely stay updated for more by subscribing!)
This video reminds me of the quote from mr.hippo "sometimes, a story's just a story. You try to read into every little thing, and find meaning in everything anyone says, you'll just drive yourself crazy. Had a friend do it once. Wasn't pretty. We talked about it for years. And then not only that, but... you'll likely end up believing something you shouldn't believe, thinking something you shouldn't think, o-o-or assuming something you shouldn't assume."
Pretty sure "Lean in, Let go, I feel fear for the very last time." is representing the celebrity's mind and desire to kill himself, He leans in, lets go, and he feels fear one last time.
this is how the actual person, who wrote the song feels. He can't speak about this publicly so he written it in his song hoping that people will understand.
Wdym? TLT can probably go outside without being mobbed by paparazzi and still could make connections with people. As far as I know, he’s not mainstream?
I believe this because I've been a fan since he started doing FNAF songs and I've loved all his other songs as well. I noticed back then he would get a ton of people asking him to make more constantly, so there was a lot of pressure to stick with that kind of music. I think eventually he had to stop for a little bit but came back because of the FNAF movie. I don't know about the more recent stuff as I haven't kept up with it but I definitely do feel like there's some feelings of his within My ordinary life.
2:25 Yeah, but also at the end we see them smoking with red eyes, "grass" and "dank" are both terms often related to weed, so I feel like that's a double meaning Also this song could either mean the guy gets detached from reality and his emotions, like you said with the "feeling fear for the very last time" or it could signify suicide, with the "if I fall I think I'll fly" which might say that he thinks if he falls, (commits suicide, probably by jumping off a building) he'll fly (go to heaven)
I remember just listening to the song because I love the guy and the style of his songs but if you think about it all of his songs are way deeper than you would think just by listening to it once
2:05 I think this could be also interpreted as They say the grass is greener [on the other side] I think my grass(weed) is dank This could be someone telling him things are better if you live different (greener on the other side) and he deflects with a tangent about how his grass is dank. Which is another instance of materialism overriding deeper meaning in his life
"money talks" is usually a stock phrase by characters that intent on bribing another character or is atleast aware that another character is easy to persuade through bribes.
this game is the only piece i have ever found where it had an extremely deep personal impact. the way i interpret it is a musician who becomes caught up in the fame and when he begins slipping he jumps to his death, so that he doesnt have to see his empire fall.
i love the dedication of the analysis of the video this hits close to home i legit got so sad about the true meaning i almost cried and getting to know the true meaning behind the music video after years is really amazing, thank you
The grass is greener means they're telling him to change, but he responds with my grass is dank, showing he doesn't want to change while implying he has the dank.
I never did a thorough analysis into this song, but the title is what got me to listen to the lyrics when it first came out. I didn't really extrapolate this much information from it but the general understanding I had before this video was that it was a subtle self-call for help. TLT had become drunk on fame and the money that came with it, but wound up loosing touch with reality, struggling with depression and the drugs he used to get high and drown out his pain.
Fascinating insight and take of this song. I've been listening to it for quite a while now and I've never been able to digest the meaning of the song this wholly. Although, with all the edits I've watched with this song, I get the gist of it being dark and depressing, despite of the vivid music video and upbeat tone of the song. Yet, you were able to explain it in a deeper sense in this video, which made me to appreciate the song much more. So, thank you for this very insightful video.
This song reminds me of a lot of depressing japanese songs, for some reason, they’re a bop, but the lyrics and sometimes the animation tell a really sad story I love these songs either way
the gnomes may not soley represent fans/paparazzi but also just general people in their life praying on their downfall as we see in many real life examples of lottery winners.
Honestly this was so depressing, yet the song is so upbeat. Before I say it, I feel sorry for all the people that are actually going through this right now, I love the song because of how nice it sounds. Now I know what the song means
You could also take the grass being dank meaning that he abuses more than just alcohol like perhaps Marijuana simply because most people refer to Marijuana is also referred to as grass and the dank in this interpretation means that it has to be very potent for him to feel it anymore
ending always scared me Edit: you should've added he was about committed bc he said " if i fall ill think ill fly" meaning hes going to jump off the bridge or building
Funny story about this song, I'm animating it right now, and I remember posting the complete aniamtic, one of the comments for some reason hit me and it made me realize that the animatic was a vent lol. But yeah this song has a special place in my heart cause it's what got me into the living tombstone, which I'd a HUGE fixation now!
I love this song and have been listening to it for years now. Just like this i've analyzed it mostly in my head and it seems we've come to pretty much the same outcome which is interesting to me but I guess theres a right answer eventually.
As a The Living Tombstone fan who has also heard their album Zero_One, I noticed that many people make jokes in the comment sections like "Dear songwriter, are you ok?" It kinda worries me that since the group is relatively famous but also criticized by people for just taking advantage of popular indie or horror games to make songs about, that it can reflect the actual band members thoughts about their lives P.D You should also try to cover the Zero_One album
I love zero one. After that album, I think it’s safe to say the lyrics in my ordinary life aren’t very superficial and actually have relevance to TLT’s (yoav specifically I think) lives. I think maybe the protagonist of the songs is more of a loner type (at least compared to my ordinary life) and less bourgeois in zero_one, but either way I think they still come from the same place.
For me the line "The people always different but it always feels the same" felt like it was more referring to music producers and the people who helped achieve his mass success. I mainly think this because of the mermaid that appeared while this line was playing. For me it conveys this feeling that even while he was just beginning his road to succes a feeling of loneliness and alienation was already looming over him.
I never thought about the words he was saying until this video, i was so blinded by the colors and beats of the music, that i really never thought about the song of what it really meant and i should listen more to different songs in order understand them so thank you ❤
This is a great video! I also think that the chorus: "Stayin' still, eyes closed Let the world just pass me by Pain pills, nice clothes If I fall, I think I'll fly Touch me, Midas Make me part of your design None to guide us I feel fear for the very last time" could also refer to him trying to kill himself, because he is asking for Midas to turn him to gold, thus killing him.
Great video and great analysis!! Ut’s funny cuz I’ve always thought about it in pretty much the same way you talk about it, except for the ending. With his declining mental health and lost sense of self and reality, the singer ends up taking his life. “World is below, so high up I’m near divine” referring to literally being up in a very high place, like on top of a building. “Lean in, let go - I feel fear for the very last time” is him leaning out over the edge, letting go of the railing/whatever was there and falling to his death. I believe a very overwhelming sense of fear and dread it common in accounts of great falls like this, so it would make sense that he references it again saying this will be the last time he feels it.
Damn, I've known this song for 3 years now and never really gave it much thought before. I knew the lyrics, but I didn't think it meant anything too deep. Thanks for opening my eyes to the true message of this song
The saddest part of this song is that it's called my ordinary life as if this is just a normal for him
Yeah. I think it also goes to show that just because he's put on a pedestal doesn't mean he's on some higher plane of existence than the rest of us
Its a name of an anime and the ost for the anime is that same song the same music but no lyrics
I think the title is based off of a show in the beginning of the song the people talking are from the show ruclips.net/video/7L1EMb88Tbo/видео.html

This song is about... how the fulfilling of the dreams of fame come at a high cost and lead to the depression of the ending.
Yup! I totally agree!
It's not about "fullfiling your dreams makes you depressed. It's about selling your life to other people that don't really care about you, and will leave you when they get bored of you, it's about validating the real importance of life instead of things that only gives temporary joy, it's about how idealizing someone can also make they're life a living nightmare

I think most of TLT songs have a dark meaning inside, but they're just so good you can't stop listening to them
Man.. this poor man wants to be successful in his own world to escape reality, that is relatable to a lot of people nowadays :(
Sure is
I love the sudden shift in the meaning of the chorus, at first, it feels as if it's boasting, “Staying still, eyes closed, let the world just pass me by” At first, it's “Oh, just look at me breeze through life with no worries” but when it plays again a second time, it becomes “Life is moving past me so quickly, I can't even keep up with it”.
Thank you
Thanks for watching!
@@playmaster_plus This was the first ever video I watched from you
Bro if you take a look at every songs lyrics you'd see how horrifying most rap songs are. Honestly the fact that the musicians know we don't listen to the lyrics is the strangest part of it all.
The most darkest and deepest part is the end, it only looks scary because of how exhausted they are but it had real meaning 😳
I really liked your analysis.
I never fully understood the lyrics and always wondered what it really meant.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
your pfp is funny lol
Yes I agree!
"let the world just pass me by" might reference the change in the human time perception when on weed as often people experience life much slower/faster depending on the substance.
It could also be referencing the drug named lean
@Danijelovski Kanal ay if u get crossfaded do they cancel out tho😂😂😂
@Danijelovski Kanal lame ash
I love sugary sad songs. The way they are so sad but you don't realize at first..😅
I saw an interesting take earlier where the lines "If i fall i think i'll fly" mean he commits suicide after abusing substances like the weed and pain pills.
The last lyrics of the song are literally mentions that he is:
High up (could refrence being under the effect or marujana but likley also literal)
lean in let go and "feel fear for the very last time" which might refrence jumping off the building and that being the last time they feel fear as they die after that moment
I really like the references to ancient mythology, the muses and midas, not very many songs do that, amplifies its meaning.
I feel like the “lean in, let go. I feel fear for the very last time” line could also be the protagonist artist comitting suicide
I always loved this song, and almost immediately knew there was likely some sort of deeper meaning.
for me was right away "touch me midas" "so high up i feel divine"
This song always had a deep meaning, even behind lyrics, it always brings me into a mood not many other songs can.
I still dont understand
Keep the faith man. Every day is an opportunity to be better than the last ❤

The ending about reality made me feel a little depressed. As an artist/story maker, I always think of my little stories to avoid my responsibilities and look into the stories and fantasies I want to live in. I am still a teen after all, I can still dream.

That could very well be the case
I feel so bad for this little lion
I always thought lean in let go, feal fear for the very last time had do to with falling off a building in like this guy says, suicide.
Holy you have the calmest voice I have ever heard.
This song was on loop for me for over a year because I just love my heart broken.
this is how the actual person, who wrote the song feels. He can't speak about this publicly so he written it in his song hoping that people will understand.
Proof?
Wdym? TLT can probably go outside without being mobbed by paparazzi and still could make connections with people. As far as I know, he’s not mainstream?
@@VantaDraws Fr I’ve never even seen his face. You could walk right in front of my house right now and I wouldn’t even know it was him.
N
Damn I used to think the lyrics were “and I’m laughing at THEIR pain” not “I’m laughing at the pain”. Really puts it in a different perspective
I knew there was a deeper meaning to this song but I couldn’t put it into words myself, but you did just that in this video. Thank you 🙏
Thanks for watching!
2:25 Yeah, but also at the end we see them smoking with red eyes, "grass" and "dank" are both terms often related to weed, so I feel like that's a double meaning
Also this song could either mean the guy gets detached from reality and his emotions, like you said with the "feeling fear for the very last time" or it could signify suicide, with the "if I fall I think I'll fly" which might say that he thinks if he falls, (commits suicide, probably by jumping off a building) he'll fly (go to heaven)

I used to, but now it kinda makes me happy y'know
That someone could take all that pain and turn it into something really cool despite that?

Me listening to the lyrics of tlt's "music video - cats"
2:05
I think this could be also interpreted as
They say the grass is greener [on the other side]
I think my grass(weed) is dank
This could be someone telling him things are better if you live different (greener on the other side) and he deflects with a tangent about how his grass is dank. Which is another instance of materialism overriding deeper meaning in his life
Finally. Someone talks about this song. I've been waiting for this forever, great job man!

"money talks" is usually a stock phrase by characters that intent on bribing another character or is atleast aware that another character is easy to persuade through bribes.
You've turned a vibe into a Shakespearean poem.
this game is the only piece i have ever found where it had an extremely deep personal impact. the way i interpret it is a musician who becomes caught up in the fame and when he begins slipping he jumps to his death, so that he doesnt have to see his empire fall.
Makes sense. The living tombstone said it themselves that the song is about "it sounds like hes bragging but is actually a desperate cry for help"

It’s so hilarious when he says the lyrics so calmly bro💀
The grass is greener means they're telling him to change, but he responds with my grass is dank, showing he doesn't want to change while implying he has the dank.
God I’ve seen so many misinterpretations of this song from the VS Shorts guys so it’s so satisfying to see an interpretation of it.
This song reminds me of a lot of depressing japanese songs, for some reason, they’re a bop, but the lyrics and sometimes the animation tell a really sad story

the gnomes may not soley represent fans/paparazzi but also just general people in their life praying on their downfall as we see in many real life examples of lottery winners.

I never ever thought about the lyrics I just liked the way it sounds and it's that simple
You could also take the grass being dank meaning that he abuses more than just alcohol like perhaps Marijuana simply because most people refer to Marijuana is also referred to as grass and the dank in this interpretation means that it has to be very potent for him to feel it anymore

“So high up, I’m near divine”
Sounds like he’s on a very tall building.
You sound so calm while talking
I love this song and have been listening to it for years now. Just like this i've analyzed it mostly in my head and it seems we've come to pretty much the same outcome which is interesting to me but I guess theres a right answer eventually.
As a The Living Tombstone fan who has also heard their album Zero_One, I noticed that many people make jokes in the comment sections like "Dear songwriter, are you ok?"
It kinda worries me that since the group is relatively famous but also criticized by people for just taking advantage of popular indie or horror games to make songs about, that it can reflect the actual band members thoughts about their lives
P.D You should also try to cover the Zero_One album
I love zero one. After that album, I think it’s safe to say the lyrics in my ordinary life aren’t very superficial and actually have relevance to TLT’s (yoav specifically I think) lives.
I think maybe the protagonist of the songs is more of a loner type (at least compared to my ordinary life) and less bourgeois in zero_one, but either way I think they still come from the same place.
For me the line
"The people always different but it always feels the same" felt like it was more referring to music producers and the people who helped achieve his mass success. I mainly think this because of the mermaid that appeared while this line was playing. For me it conveys this feeling that even while he was just beginning his road to succes a feeling of loneliness and alienation was already looming over him.
I love the way you articulate yourself.
You explained this song beautifully, i never expected a song such as this one to have this much meaning, thank you for being awesome.
"I feel pain for the very last time." can mean that he is planning to süıçıde
Certainly a possibility
"If I fall I think I'll fly" also hints at him possibly jumping off a building
@@rainbowrenegade1479 oh yeaa I forgot about that
I never thought about the words he was saying until this video, i was so blinded by the colors and beats of the music, that i really never thought about the song of what it really meant and i should listen more to different songs in order understand them so thank you ❤
This is a great video! I also think that the chorus: "Stayin' still, eyes closed
Let the world just pass me by
Pain pills, nice clothes
If I fall, I think I'll fly
Touch me, Midas
Make me part of your design
None to guide us
I feel fear for the very last time" could also refer to him trying to kill himself, because he is asking for Midas to turn him to gold, thus killing him.
This has been one of my top 3 songs for a hot second now and I knew it was a little dark but man this is dark
I’ve been listening to this song for so long but I never saw it like this, thanks for the deep dive into the meaning
I just recently found this song and never thought it would be as dark as this
