My company has over 700 employees so there’s never a shortage of things to do from interviews, onboarding, handling employee disputes, workers comp, Fmla I can go on and on. Sometimes you also have to be the bad guy and enforce company policies. Don’t expect to make too many work friends because confidentiality is everything. But In just 2 months I’ve also had a hand in negotiating wages, drafting new ideas to train better and etc. I am able to help so many people in the building and I love it.

An HR Specialist specialises in a particultar area of HR for example L&D (Learning & Development) or Compensation and Benefits whereas a Generalist covers all areas of HR that are relevant to the company they work in. Usually a generalist has vast amounts of knowledge in a specific area and their entire job is focused in that area, whereas a Generalist knows a little about each area. At entry level I would recommend Generalist unless you know which area you want to specialise in.

Hi Maryam, it would depend on on the company's individual preference and the nature of the enquiry - for example an HR Coordinator may be able to pick up or approve reference requests, but may not be able to handle invoice enquiries, it would just depend on what's required by the company. As People is often an alternative term to HR I would say yes - however you'll need to pay close attention to the job description in case non-traditional HR duties are included in the role.

As People is often an alternative term to HR I would say yes - however you'll need to pay close attention to the job description in case non-traditional HR duties are included in the role.
