nice lens! Canon are pushing forward! I personally always carry two bodies (flash on 24-70 on one body) and (12-24 f2.8 or 70-200 f2.8 on the second body). Plus a 85mm f1.8 for some mood shots. Longer reach gives you ability to shoot those candid moments. I feel the upper 105 f2.8 is still too short to capture candid moments or close up of speakers, but this depends on the event. I would always carry two bodies anyway as a backup. I think your 24-105 f2.8 with flash is probably quite a heavy setup for one body. Your lens is 1.3kg, when you add flash (0.4kg) and camera body (say 0.8kg) you're over probably 2.5kg! That's pretty heavy on one shoulder, which should be considered. Where this lens maybe ideal is tight sports , like badminton where you are located very close to the action.
@@kitminlee9169 you’re probably right, as in sports you’d run a monopod too and likely won’t be moving much in the arena. The weight of the lens does take a toll especially 4 hours into the event shoot
yes, very interesting, I shoot Nikon, but same problem, 24-70 or prime 105 ? but great to have a "walk around" lens and portrait/macro lens in one zoom.
@@rodricchan us in the Nikon 'camp' have that, yes, but we also have 24-70 in F2.8 flavour, as well as a 'dog' 24-120 zoom, so have some choice; but answering that question, Yes, for most people, this IS the budget option, as a DX/Fx 14/24 or equivalent, is another, but without the tele option, and is long, heavy, and has a $$$$$ price tag. It all depends on use, and how much one wants to carry; I, personally, use the 24-70 f4 and a 105 f 2.8 prime, I don't shoot sport/people though, so the time changing isn't an issue, the Quality of the image is, so mainly why I still go the prime option, with a walk around zoom for convenience sake.
@@Jekoza about the 28-70mm, it’s cheaper than 24-105 which is nice, but what actually made me sway toward the 24-105 is the IS when purchasing a lens. The 2.8 for me is ok, but if they can go 16-105 f2.8 then it’s bingo 😂
