The R-line trim level looks so much better. But big mistake not to offer a 2.0L diesel like you can get in the Superb

Yeah not sure why the diesel was dropped…maybe they’ll introduce it again in the future? 🙏

@nico4477 I will never understand Vws decision not to offer a diesel here, the passat main sales were diesels in the UK. People will just buy a superb instead.

I love the background that you have used for the VW filming. While not a VW fan, I can appreciate that the Passat is longer, more like a wagon (sort of). One question I have is in the boot. If you don't use the compartment privacy roller blind, does it store somewhere in the car when removed? One complaint I have with my Mercedes GLC Coupe is if I remove it, there is no place in the car to store. I do have a spare tire in mine. Great Review as always. Wish more reviewers were as professional (location, editing) as you are.

It just happened to be the place they had the event! 😅 (there might be another soon!)
But yeah it was awesome! Sadly I didn’t take that out so not sure if it’ll store underneath.
Thank you! I always try and find somewhere quiet to film! 🎥

It looks like a nice family car, perfect for putting large loads into the boot space, comfortable too, although I would go for the green colour,as there is a certain classic vibe with it.

Saying the new design looks about right, because it's taking attributes from the golf's design, is like complimenting BMW for making their new 5 series look like a 1 series from the front.
People buy into the next model up in cars. For loads of reasons, 1 of which is different design. 😊

Great car. Nice review, but I'll take the 2.0 TDI. Have a 2008 tdi, 6.2l per 100km , 300 000km coming and I love it. Think as a daily ill have a new Passat. And a Jag xk for the weekend to cruise around Marbella.

Nick, you cover everything on the steering wheel and console except the cruise control. A lot of other people will do the same thing, talk about the "volume" and the "phone" and the "screen" and the "infotainment" and the "A/C", the seats, the air scarf, the ashtray, the cup holders, the storage bins, the door storage, the handles, the USB ports, the dash, the stitching, the leather, the speakers, the floor mats, champagne chillers. I sometimes wonder if car reviewers wouldn't be better as real estate agents, than as car reviewers. Please, forgive me for being so literal, but "auto" "mobile" suggests that automatic speed adjustments via cruise control would be integral and of of primary importance.

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  3 месяца назад +1

Thank you for the feedback, honestly it’s more to do with time with the car. I can cover the cruise control if I have the car for an extended period of time but on this occasion and quite a few others I have just enough time to make a video but sadly not go through full details like cruise control in depth.
On the day it’s a choice of what to go through. Yes I could talk about it, but it’s testing it as well in that short space of time as there are others literally waiting to drive it as well. If I had it for hours on end, then yeah absolutely!
On my reviews I only cover stuff that I myself have put my hands on and tested.
But I’ll try and squeeze that in for future videos if you’d like.
My aim is to make videos that people want to watch so if that content helps I will do my best to get it in there too.

@@npoleary ---- I just wanted to know if the CC was on the wheel, where it belongs, like maybe, "And the CC is these buttons on the right." Covering things like distance following, lane keeping, down shifting on hills, speed adaptation by zip code or signage or whatever is a bit more than simple. I won't consider a car that relegates CC to an appendage of the steering column, that you have to reach off the wheel for and turn and twist and fiddle with. One recent major point of interest fro me personally is the lower limit of CC, e.g. will it set and maintain 10mph?

One biggie in a CPO is maintenance costs. Depending on anticipated mileage, warranties and extended warranties, and pre-paid maintenance contracts are considerations. So is the insurance cost. Not that you do not already know more than I about ownership and reliability, just mentioning. I think most cars have some multiple of 10k miles as major maintenance review points.

Just to add that the USB on Skoda is at the passenger side of the mirror (at least it is here in the uk, I think it may be passenger side too in LHD cars) where you have the dashcam. Bit awkward /ugly if power cable on the VW is only on drivers side.

Don't be upset VW, but the Passat has become the uglier brother of the Skoda Superb! And being uglier is also a little cheaper! In my country, the basic version starts from 34000 euros, and the Superb Sedan from 35000 euros.

Don't like that monstrous radiator grille. The styling is bland and transforms it into a boring family car, it has lost the command stance of the older models. Luckily those models will be plentiful in the used market for many years so there will be unlimited choice of specs at private motorist prices.
