I'm no VW fan, but I commend them for carrying on with the Passat - the saloon 'tourer' style, and more importantly, a strong diesel engine that will run circles around any EV.
I really don't get the "missus" 🙃. Estates have to be the more practical and rational solution for pretty much every family solution 🤷♂ Same thing over here...
It looks absolutely phenomenal Nobby. I’ll 100% be tipping over to get the Saloon R when it lands in the UK. VRT, VAT & Customs be damned, I’m getting one. Have a 17 R-Line at the minute and still getting almost 1,200km to a tank.
After you've curbed your black rims one or twice...and have Ivy growing through that lattice grill (like the Buzz) it's desirability will be somewhat diminished. Honestly VW has had some interesting concepts like the Buzz ..but before they release them some exec drives them to the local Supercheap Auto store and then the local Big Box hardware...and says ''I have a few things we can add and I even found this vase at ALDI ''..😑🌼 _or is this just german humour_
Loads of info here. It can work out cheaper from NI instead of England though. www.revenue.ie/en/vrt/registration-of-imported-used-vehicles/new-vehicles-motor-dealers-pre-inspected-vehicles.aspx
Mark. So overlooked! The VW Passat has always been a solid, good car/estate. A proper Family car! Again another example as to why would you buy an SUV? Handling, capacity, design, quality, performance and so on. [The alloys are a love/hate//// yes diamond cut would be better. Correct me if wrong but the same as on new VW Tourag R-Line model? Again if it has to be a big SUV then this is the one. Certainly better than its 'blood brother' Bentley 'Bo**ocks over hyped, eye-watering priced glitz wagon! Yes VW have nailed it again! Cracking Family Estate! Cheers!
Sorry Nobby, I DO not like the front of this car. Do not like the wheels. Nice interior though. Still think Skoda/Superb is ahead of VW in design. Plus they are doing the Saloon and plus that is going to Ireland.
Just wait for the new model Superb which is coming to Ireland 😉
Hopefully that has more options then just a 1.5 as that's the only option we get in the UK
I bought a VW diesel in 2023 and I’m loving it.😊

My missus hates estates, i love them but shes the boss. This is gorgeous and so practical for our weekend roadtrips

Love an estate! I think the Audi avant or BMW touring cars are way better looking than the saloons.
It is crazy that this has better rear seat space than bmw 7-series.
It is the car for me, i drive from Sweden to Barcelona every year about 2500 kilometer?🙏👏🇸🇪👍
I guess the arrival of the ID7 Tourer in Ireland will make up for the demise of the Passat there. Same with the new Škoda Superb Combi.
It looks absolutely phenomenal Nobby.

Saloon R ??? Only available as an Estate
Yep, no saloon coming to the U.K. Estate only. Grab an outgoing Arteon R if you’re after that
Nice looking Car..I'm really not sure about those Wheels though...
Jury seems to be split on them alright!

Nobby…this or ID7 Estate? What would you pick as your family car between the two.
The overhangs are a bit too long which makes it look a bit old fashioned
You are certainly correct - it looks less well planted and it will reduce interior space even if it is already spacious..
Passat or tiguan? I'm thinking to go to one of those, but I'm so indecisive... Hybrid version.. Any tip to help decide? Thanks
Need the space, like driving, Passat. Family all rounder, Tiguan
They finally make a passat I’d buy and we’re not getting it!!! 😡
did they finally backlight the hot and cold sliders on the touch bar under the screen?
Yep!
Can buyers in Eire go up to NI and buy one there and bring it back?

What are the tax implications?
Would it be costly to do this?

Why no saloon version?
Yeah, but Ireland gets the Toyota Corolla Cross and the UK doesn’t… fancy a trade? 🙂

More confortable than citroen C5X??
Why exactly aren’t we getting this? I get the Skoda will kind of fill the gap but I can’t see the ID7 tourer hitting the same numbers this would have
Sales of Passat have dwindled here over the years

Will be driving the new Superb in a month and I’ll be sure to grab a diesel
Thanks for the reply Nobby. It’s appreciated. Can’t wait for the Superb drive. Said before I was looking to order this one. Looks great inside.
Nice part of the world, where is it ?
Horrendous looking yoke
I assume it's not realistic to buy one in Belfast and drive back over the border lol.
Imagine what the VRT on it would be you would be Riden
Those FR seats do not deserve much appreciation, I think. They are useless other than looking sporty.
Just looks like a bigger golf to me.
Too similar to the golf estate. For the extra money you would want it to look different.
Why is it not coming to Ireland thats a strange one
Hasn’t sold in huge numbers here recently
@@NobbyOnCars it might well not sell well in the UK without a diesel option. Most passats sold here are diesels
You just had to say it
Better than an Octavia?
Passat is Passat
Buy it in the north if you fancy one.no spare wheel come on vw
A nice VAT bill if you do that
Needs different colour and wheels.
Import from the UK to Ireland…sorted 👌
Enjoy the extra eu tax on that
You might be able to order from the factory in right hand drive. Where is it made?
Yeah I'm not sure you'd have pay 20% tax. Plus the original UK 20% vat on the car.
Those wheels are manky, though.
Ugly car overhang and wheels 🤮
