Omg my case is the reverse. Since childhood I used to be a shonen and seinen brat but after hitting my 20s, its only shojo which makes my heart fluter. And kimi ni todoke is one so close to my heart ❤️
It amazes me how the animators were able to replicate the original S1 and S2 style of the anime. This brings me nostalgia 😭❤️

I'm interested to see how newer anime fans are going to react to this series. It's absolutely my fave romcom, but I'm not sure a modern audience will be attracted to a straightforward romance in 2024.

Just because it is popular among some nerds, it doesn’t mean that it’s a masterpiece. It is like calling “Twilight” a masterpiece.
It literally has number of episodes where they couldn’t make it clear that their “love” for each other is romantic. That is just brain dead shojou writing
Oh please, that little issue was like only like 10 chapters in a 123 chapter manga, no relationship would be smooth sailing 24/7, they moved past it. Kimi ni Todoke was 100x healthier than Twilight and one of the most healthiest romances in the shoujo genre, not to mention the friendship between the 3 main girls (even Kurumi becomes likable) was good too. It may not be a masterpiece in the conventional way but it is in no way trash.
