    Good to see more long term reviews like this. To many people unbox and use an item for a day or two then video a glowing review and never return to actually document its use. And I like the idea of rollers for the material supports.

    Great video. I use a corded 10" DW on mine. One thing I do for storing is I unlock the mount brackets, slide the saw almost to the end that has the "feet" for storing upright. The weight distribution is a little better that way. Also, the handle on the underside is really only good for pulling it out of the box...so I took it off, and reused the hardware to mount a 6 plug outlet. Attach the extension cord and now I can run the saw, vac, portable table saw etc. Great stand I think, portable, sturdy, seems very well built. I started with their $100 portable stand, but the holes in the legs where the lock pins pop in and out if started flaring the holes and made it so i couldn't fold the legs back into stow position.
    Update....I recently bought the hercules 12" sliding miter saw...the stand still works just as good. The new saw is quite a bit heavier, so setting the stand up is a little more awkward. I'm thinking the next time I set up, I may unlock the saw mounts, take it off, set the stand up, then mount the saw afterwards

    There is a screw at the bottom of the mounting track where you can adjust the tension. It makes it easier to remove the saw+bracket from the track stand.

    I have this stand and the Hercules compound miter saw. It is a very solid combination. Note that when mounting the Hercules saw to this (or probably any) stand, you must remove those rubber foot pads from the base of the saw. I guess they are there for using the saw on a flat surface without mounting it, to give the base a little traction.

      I was wondering if you actually mounted the hercules 12" slider to this stand if you could still store it in the vertical position since this Makita has the slide rails forward and off to the side of the saw instead of behind the saw like the hercules saw and most other brands.

    Harbor freight features your first video, I watched that and then came over to this followup. Thanks for a detailed review. I think I'm sold. Tired of lugging my heavy Hitachi in and out of the shed every time I want to use it.

    Thank you for doing this review!! I need a really secure miter stand since I don't have a workshop. I think this will serve me well. So doing this review AFTER you've had this a while is great. I think I found me a new stand and I'll have to pass this info along to Santa (my wife) for Christmas 2022. She's gonna hate wrapping it.

    I want to know what the silver bracket under the back, bottom of the saw is for. It looks like it’s to wrap a cord on but it is too close to the main base for even a lamp cord to wrap onto.

    Does storing the saw upright not affect the saws calibration or balance? I just bought the saw and stand yesterday, haven't even unboxed them yet and didn't know you could store it this way.

    Good review! I purchased this stand last night as a "quicker" 2nd option. I have a 12" Dewalt slider mounted to the full FastCap Best Fence setup. It's absolutely the "best" miter saw stand out there. Once dialed in it is rock solid and dead nuts accurate. Set the stop to your dimension and its right on every single time(It's Pricey though! $1200 for everything) But even after a few years of using it. It takes mebat least 10 minutes to get it set up and dialed in. And... It's damn heavy!!! Unfortunately I don't have the space to leave it set up 24/7. So I picked up a Kobalt 24v 7 1/4 slider(Which i absolutely love) and picked up the Hercules stand on their after Christmas sale for $150. I'm really looking forward to getting it setup and putting it to use. Thanks for the great videos on it. They really helped push me towards this stand. It seems like a solid product and a great buy at $150

    Would you like a longer bed model, like the De W has the one that is around 6 foot , but seems really cheaply built. Last question, can you mount the brackets that hold the saw backwards so the lock levers are on the back?

    • @williams6262
      @williams6262  2 года назад

      6' would be nice but this is workable. I suppose you could mount the brackets opposite but it might make the saw sit farther back

    I'm going to pick this up for $150 right now, I will be using it professionally for a DWS-779 DeWalt, very heavy.
    I would love to hear your ideas for modding it. I do not care about leaving things like this in its factory condition and will not hesitate to mod something. I actually have a t-shirt with a picture of a screwdriver that says I Void Warranties haha.
    I'm buying this based on your review. So far the only thing I'm not liking is the weight but I think I can deal with that. I'm hoping I can easily remove the extensions while I'm transporting it to get the weight down.

    Is that identified as a material stop in the manual? I have separate out feed roller support stands for my table saw with same flipping device over roller but it not for being a stop, its just a non rolling support. In your first review you mentioned the rollers werent perfect sliding bearings and it was fine because you didnt want your stock moving all over, thats pretty much the purpose of that bar, I never even considered using it as a stop, but I guess you could. A small clamp to steady it might work. Nice 9 month review thanks,

  • @Joeshmofoshoyo

    I love this stand, I don't keep my saw attached when I break it down. I use a 24' x 32' 3/4" plywood as a base for the saw to sit on. I clamp the plywood to the supports at the backside of each support, then I screw the miter saw to the plywood with two deck screws in the front. This way the plywood acts as a table. I don't have the wheels attached, It's unnecessary because without the saw attached it's light enough to carry with the handle mounted on the underside. This way it's easy enough to put in the truck. To setup and breakdown takes me about one minute. The supports are way better than the lame stamped steel my delwalt stand has.

    better to but the ridged rolling miter saw stand . more stability and easy to roll with the large wheels. and if you gm have the $$$ than go with the bosch. it’s the best on the market.

    Don't know about the base of your saw but the hercules has rubber feet that cause the mounting brackets to bend inward just a bit. Using some nylon washers around the bolts level it out and then the saw comes on and off smooth as silk...
    Long story short... Check to see if you need to shim the saw base to the brackets.

    • @waldoiswhere
      @waldoiswhere 3 года назад

      @Todd Feitl Harbor Freight now has stickers on the Hercules Miter saw that specifically tell you to remove the rubber feet before mounting their saw on any stand. But good advice in any case.

    • @metalchef1283
      @metalchef1283 3 года назад

      @@waldoiswhere good thing they have decided to do that.
      Probably wouldn't be a terrible idea to make the Hercules miter saw compatible with the Hercules miter saw stand out of the box?
      Removing the rubber pads will help with the issue but I don't think it will completely fix it....the molded metal that the sit in would most likely still cause some amount of deflection...

    • @waldoiswhere
      @waldoiswhere 3 года назад

      @@metalchef1283 I noticed that when I removed the rubber feet and I took a grinder to the base around where the feet mount to lower the height to the level surrounding the edge. Harbor Freight should inform their supplier as simply removing the feet are not enough.

    Good video but you goofed at about the 5 minute mark when you didn't show the deployment of the legs on the wheeled side. I suppose I'll have to find out if that is a smooth operation or if I need to have a small board handy to pull it up, prop it with the board as I deploy the legs. You did everything else so well that I was surprised you skipped this part.
