I survived war in Bosnia. My town of Bihać was under siege for 4 years. It's 3 AM and i can't sleep after watching this video. I never had no clue what happened after the war and how marines hunted these animals. The things didn't change much still Serbia try to destabilize the region and they build army back cause they lost Kosovo. Serbian nationalism is still going on around and they will try to expand and we are worried cause of war in Ukraine that Putin will try to make conflict on Balkans since Serbia is with close friends with Russia. Serbs have different vision what happened in wars at Croatia, Bosnia, Kosovo which Serbia was indirectly involved in all wars by giving weapons, logistics and volunteers to Serbs in all conflicts. If we look in history, they stared WWI in Sarajevo by killing archduke Franz Ferdinand (killers were Serb nationalists) witch led to massive genocide of Serbs in WW2 by NAZI regime of Croatia. So in this Yugoslav wars they tried to build empire of Serbs from Croatia, big part of Bosnia, Montenegro was theirs to Kosovo. They tried to cleanse land of non Serbs by genocide which led to killing men, burning villages to dust, opening concentration camps and transporting woman to Serbia. After the war they tried to hide mass graves by digging them and relocating them to other places, so body parts of same person would be found on different places. And they actually don't believe in what happened, they have own story and they still don't know why NATO bombarded them. NATO is animal in their eyes. I can only say if we didn't fight them for 4 years, under siege 24/7 my town was devastated i wouldn't be alive today. Thanks to HAGUE, America, NATO, Clinton who stopped this slaughter. Only i still don't like UN, which failed to protect civilians all across Bosnia.

Met a few guys from THE REGIMENT on my first tour of Bosnia in 2004 . Did a few OPs with them as cordon troops doing soft knock operations around Pale and Sarajevo . They are very down to earth and will come and chat to you in the canteen .We Fijians in my regiment became very close to Mike as he was one of the survivors of the battle of Mirbat ,Oman 1979 where a very famous Fijian SAS laid his life for his comrades , Queen and country . I remembered when we were in a van doing an OP overlooking a train station near the KOSOVO border .Intel came through that they were smuggling young girls to come and work as prostitutues in EUROPE . The guy who was running the circus was wanted for war crimes .we sat in the van for 3 weeks tops only coming out to wee and have a shitter . Mike was telling us some of his stuff and his first trip to Fiji to meet Labalaba"s family. Best 3 weeks of my military career in that van with Mike . Before we left Bosnia , he came to Banja Luka metal factory to say his goodbye and thank us for our service to his country . Fijians have served the British crown since world war 2 and every calendar year the MOD goes to FIJI and recruit young men and women to enlist in his majesty"s armed forces.

He is a legend who, in another Unit, would have been awarded the VC for his actions in Mirbat, but so secret was the war in Oman ("helping out" the Sultan) that nothing could be done to draw excessive attention to what was going on there, but he was "Mentioned in Dispatches". Laba's glory was not to be a medal, but the esteem his colleagues will hold him in for evermore, relating his story at Mirbat to future youngsters, like the Australian Aboriginial's oral history tradition around the campfire at night. Fiji is a Commonwealth Nation whose citizens have (as their birthright) the entitlement to apply to join the British Armed Forces, and many continue to do so.
I missed that one, the last deployment we got in was Rwanda in 1991 with the genocide there from Hutu militia. After that, I went into the reserves. But I know some brothers went also in that one in Bosnia. But can't say much, because it is still OPSEC to this day. The Rwanda deployment broke me apart. I lived for many years with PTSD. In the 2000s I got treatment en learned to know my wife, she was my lifesaver. The deployments before happened in Congo, our former colony. I have 5 years active duty and 5 years in the reserves. After that, I was done with the military.

They said "there was a terrible war..." I asked if it was really quite bad. They gave me a long and penetrating look before saying "It was bad.." God. It was bad.
It still shocks me a little just how far the drone technology has come over the past few decades, and how brutal wars like this are still being waged or almost about to kick off. The division between people seems to be at a flash point globally again.

My coworker was a kid in Bosnia. His mother was killed. He was alone. Eventually put in a camp where he found his father. His father begged the guards to let him go. Eventually he was put on a bus alone. The busses stopped multiple times every time they picked people out. Took them off the bus and killed them. Eventually reached a refugee camp and eventually to Germany. I think he was 11 years old when that happened. I don’t know I never asked him about it again.

@@jplacido9999 I understand your point as well, but it was your use of the word “incompetent” that made me angry, there is a fine line between something being done poorly or being “taken easy”, the SAS, and I would say all Special Forces units, do not do lax or go with the flow, everything is planned for and checked, double checked and triple checked, and just to be sure checked again, practice,practice,practice and just when they think they have practiced enough they practice again, so for you to use the “incompetent” is harsh and unfair, I never worked with the SAS or any SF units but I didn’t have to, they are the best of the best for a reason, and that is because they are putting themselves in harm’s way without any backup, and getting it wrong is not an option, and maybe, just maybe, they had been assured that the communication system was a secure system and they accepted that because of where they were operating from, but that’s all just my opinion.
