Or how to do it safely. I take away from this that they have 100 years from when they finished to figure this out……. Plus every other source says 20,000 years before the area is live able for humans. If I am missing something here please let me know.

I have been reading and watching about Everst for over 20 years. People take their own risk. The govt wants the money. Years ago the public did no know how the area was being covered in all the trash being left behind. Now its an issue the people of this area hve to deal with. What a shame. So many people have the attitude, if i get out of here its not my problem. They walk away because they paid a fee. Its a real issue for the world. Its saddening.

There are places on this earth that people should not be. Mt. Everest is one of these places. Ever since Sir Edmund Hillary made his way up, with the help of many sherpas, men and women have had the need to "conquer" Mt. Everest. It makes me sick to see people who for whatever reason feel they are entitled to try and conquer this mountain, putting themselves and otheres at risk. This mountian should be off limits to people. Let it be.

Climbing Everest is no longer Cool. And quite honestly not the accomplishment people still think it is. I t was at a Time. But now the stigma of Selfish Wealthy People destroying the mountain and taking advantage of the Sherpas has Changed that. Yes it is an extremly hard thing to do and it takes great physical And mental prowess to do it. However that no longer matters in the eyes of many. The stigma has now started to take over. The fact is that thousands have now done it and honestly the feat was most likely done hundreds of years prior by the sherpa people. If someone were to tell me thatthey just climbed Everest I'm not going to be impressed

Ok, I’m going to be the monster here. There’s a lot of talk about how selfish people are on the mountain but… if it was a dream of mine to summit Everest I could probably only justify time and funding for one attempt, ever. You’re looking at months of intense training at home, then 2-3 months on Everest itself acclimating, and tens of thousands of dollars. To put in all that, only to give up on that dream when the summit is literally in sight, to help a total stranger, who: 1. is supposed to have their own team to help them 2. may already be too far gone to save, I’m not a doctor and if their team has left them I’m thinking that there’s probably a reason for that 3. might be in that predicament because they acted against the advice of their guides 4. you probably don’t have the equipment to help, I don’t think people carry loads of extra stuff on summit day 5. you may not have the physical ability to help, nothing is easy at altitude but trying to manhandle the dead weight of another human in the freezing cold, on the side of a mountain when your own body is dying from a lack of oxygen, that’s next level Until I’m in that sort of situation I don’t know what I’d do, but it just seems like a really big, impractical ask in so many ways

500 hours of training to summit Everest? I did somewhere between 1000-1500 hours of training before I did my first Ironman and I was already in good physical condition for a race that I could bail out of at any time and be totally safe. And I still hit the wall hard and struggled with a 14 hour finish. Maybe the numbers don’t align, but 500 hours seems obscenely low from a cardiovascular perspective to try and climb into the death zone.
