I'm 75 and haven't riden a bike in 27 years and never a Harley because they didn't have the power I wanted but viewing your video got me looking at my checkbook in a new way. Great information!!
Better plan on a BIG CHECK. Hahahaha the new Street and Road glide CVO ARE INCREDIBLE BUT $50,000 and then comes the upgrades, at least exhaust. They are unbelievable. In a couple years they will be used and much cheaper, and the person before you will probably have done the upgrades.
117 stock CVO Limited (2020) is 91 HP and 113 torque from the factory. I added the Stage IV 131 with George Bryce 3/4 Race M8 .585 cam. Final numbers were 129.42 HP and 140.85 torque. I added a Rekluse clutch as well.
Big fan of Zippers. Love this video, need to watch and pause it again to note several of these components. Remember aside from the “numbers” everyone is trying to get in hp & torque, percentage of gain from previous set up, really tells the story in performance.
It’s really all about the knowledge of your builders. That’s why you get more out of a 124 than a bolt on 131. Plus the bolt on 131 kits offered at Harley are still EPA and Carb compliant. Choose your engine builder wisely. Great video Tall. God Bless and ride safe. 👍
I love the 131. Full warranty and plenty of power for an average rider like me. Had a couple minor issues and just ride it into a dealer and fixed it right up. Awesome.
My bike, Tanny, is a 19RG w/ a Zippers 124 Sleeper RedShift 468 Cam with KROME WERKS. Yes I had a Bandit clutch put in it because the stock clutch started slipping. HAPPPPPPYYYY. THANKS T.
Mines a tc 88 and love it...put a gear drive and air cleaner on it and she purrs on regular fuel no ping...and with 2up we pass what ever on the road...thks for sharing..peace
107 has a shorter stroke than the 114/117. Revs up faster. But because of that you can't go to a 131. Only the 128 with SE product. Either way there is good power (120hp/130tq) to be had out of an M8 with as little as a good cam and tune because of the flow of the even stock heads. Stay safe. Edit: Excellent usage of edit splicing. Great informative video Tall. 👍
With Zipper's Performance 107s go to 124s and 114/117 goes to 128s I agree you can get some great numbers with a cam swap. My dad's 107 with a Redshift Cam made 117 tourqe and 107 horsepower.
@@TravelingTall thanks. I'm rocking a new to me 2015 Street Glide. 💪 I'm a big fan of the Zippers product. And the fact that they still got love for us Twin Cam guys is even better. Loved your build with them on Memphis. My problem is I'm down in Australia and a lot of companies won't ship here. Keep Glidin.
You could get 131" c.i. of displacement using the short 4 3/8" crank stroke if you slightly bore the engine cases to drop in big bore 4.375" bore jugs. A short stroke 131" with a high RPM horsepower cam will definitely put your driving privileges at risk!
Keep it 107 and turbo stage 1 or go 114 and turbo stage 1. Probably best bang for the buck for performance. And keeping the shorter stroke also means you can build the engine to rev higher if you want to.
I agree 100% I had a 114 roadglide special. Did a 131 stage IV. Now I have a 117 Low rider S. Doing it now, I’d just pick a touring bike with a 107 and do the stage IV. The 107-114-117; good luck telling the difference while riding. The 131; that you could for sure feel.
The H-D trans is actually not a bad trans. It’s had some issues in the past, but they seemed to have corrected them. There are also kits like from Jim’s that are out there to beef it up. I have been told that the Baker 7 Speed creates issues with the ECM. Something to do with the ECM displaying the current gear and not knowing how to read the 7th gear? I also think an oil cooler fan and rear cylinder fan are essential to a big bore kit. I live near Chicago. Traffic is just a thing here.
I'm doin a 124 with my 107 and went chain because I want a better connection with the road and easier on a long ride to replace the chain more than because of power
I just raced a Milwaukee 8 with a stage 3 with my 96 stage 4 built to a 107 and I smoked the Milwaukee 8 even with a passenger on my bike and my bike is heavier,LOVE THE V TWINS and they sound so much better thsn the Milwaukees hands down .
Boy do i wish and hope one day to have $ like that to get that power. Still saving those green stamps.. aw dang they dont take those any longer 😕. But I'm still riding and loving it.. One day i hope to run with the big 🐕. But till then Im grateful to have my HOG
Or the 131 crate motor available n 2021. Brutus the shadetree surgeon Lowrider S was built n 2021 and n 2020 they did Road King Kong with the 131 also, but i think those were ceate engines so not sure of big bore kit availability.
I bought a new 2018 Street Glide Special and got the SE Stage4 which took my 107 to 114 and changed the cam to a RedShift 472. Only makes 120/130. I'm thinking of getting the S&S 124 kit and swapping out the cylinders/]pistons but not sure what gains I'll get
I'll be searching for a bullet proof build, strong enough internals to be reliable and handle 2 up and towing a trailer!! Not all about highest HP/tq for me but best overall fix of Harley week points!!! Thx tt for good v logs!!
I use Aces4 from BND. One ounce treats 6 Gal. Takes 87 octane to 96 . And it lubricates the topend. Saves me around .35 to .45 cents per Gal under the 93 octane price.
I have 131SE installed. Harley has to stick to their EPA legal tune. I decided to have my bike 100% blueprinted by Kevin Baxter with a Skunkworks build. Going to be a street sleeper, with balanced and built bottom end to handle all that power.
Off subject. Would you be kind enough to tell me what camera your using for my own use. I’m 72 yrs. Old and I think I’ll have some fun with it. I have a 2015 Street Glide Special that I bought new at Space Coast Harley in Florida. I really enjoy you and your channel. My 2yr. Older brother got me into riding. Hey Tall didn't see you this year at Ocean City Bike Fest you know Ams Oil was there again this year with that Harley running all day they say its the oil to keep temperatures down .Me myself upgraded from the 2019 Sportster 1200 to a 2017 V Rod Muscle feels good to see everyone dipping to the side to keep moving .
I’m thinking about going with the S&S 124 kit I’m just not sure yet. January or February it will be done. But until I’m riding lol 😂 I have 3 trip coming up . Thanks 🙏🏾 for the info
Another reason to go with really big bores is to increase displacement but while keeping the stroke the same length for higher red lines or potentially short stroker builds for really high red lines. This is my personal route for a custom bike build. Likely a 4 to 4.25 stroke. 4 to 4.25 bore most likely split the difference with a 4.125 trying to keep the redline high while keeping some decent low end albeit shifting the peak torque a little higher to also help with traction. Part of keeping redlines higher safely is piston speed at 4.25 stroke you can really only do 6500 maybe 6800 before the pistons are pushed. At a 4 inch stroke 7000 rpms is reasonable, and given it's not much above where valve float starts to happen it seems to be a decent point where the diminishing returns would kick in for the valve train stuff and reliability. Although depends on exact engine. Most performance increases besides a few will generally help torque all across the curve. Ho is just torque times rpms. So building over all torque and shifting a little bit to the mid and high end versus only low end and completely killing the top end or pushing the pistons hard. Trade off in some shorter strokes is worth it. Play with rod length and ratios and you can tune some stability and also help with the low end or top end based off what you need or split the difference. From there throw the turbo or super. Turbo done right can net performance gains and help with reliability at altitude plus also help with fuel economy as long as you maintain decent throttle control but for touring still makes sense with cruise control. Given you can get the turbos to spool uo fairly early just have it start earlier on in the rpm range but tuned to work across the boosted curve section. End result when done right is a bike that still drives around well for town and can be driven more like a truck in the low rpms. And also a rocket ship that revs high for a harley and just builds endlessly across its power band. Even with a simple 108 stroked and bore knucklehead I'm looking at roughly 167 to 177 hp as a base estimate. With low boost. Spend the money balancing stuff and working on the weight and also deflection and pushing slightly higher rpms wouldn't be hard even safely. Right pistons even easier as some are rated beyond 4500 feet per minute. Get the oil running within its peak temp range and a cooler so the turbos happy. I'd go forged connecting rods. Best pistons I can find. Make sure all the valve work is done properly.
The belt does however rob some horsepower from the primary and final to the wheel. Dual belts it's something like 15 percent parasitic loses versus a chain which is louder and requires probably more maintenance.
Do that thing Brother! Absolutely 💯 beautiful job on that Streetglide. Great content...I am about to build my 06 Roadking Custom and putting in Redshift 577 cams. Thank you
My Brothers I have a 2019 cvo streetglide. 131 SE. I keep getting death wobble at 85 mph and up. What can I do to make this disappear. I have new tires front and back, Legands suspension in the rear, still wobble above 85mph
Check out your engine mounts. The back swing arm mounts if the bushings are worn, then the wheels will NOT stay in inline. The aftermarket has parts that can help with this. An O9?? How many miles? The only thing you can do is to eminate the possibilities. Wheels, tires, steering head, swing arm bushings and bearings, motor mounts. Good luck 👍 It can be frustrating.
Recheck your tire pressures and have your steering column bolt touque verified. I once put a Z reted tire on my bike and because its contact patch is much narrower i had same issue. Was that tire. Be super sure pressure are spot on
Great video! Looking to build my 107. What does dark horse do to the crank? Wanting mine reliable like yours😁 I'm running the zippers 468 currently. Love it, but like you said, wanting more. I've got 20000 miles on mine without a single problem
Sounds like your bike has been in and out of hd shop several times. The chain issue my bike broke the bdl belt made for big inch engine like it was a cotton shoe string but I didn't build the hd platform I wanted the most for my $ so I went with s&s v124 crate engine 140hp 140tq will do more but for break in and warranty I didn't want to push it to 170 hp and 170 tq
Khrome Werks is Performance, I had Tabs before I started doing performance upgrades. Not saying they are bad exhaust, I just needed something that allowed me to get the most out of my build.
Everybody I know but the 128 or better that's running a chain has blown at least two before transmissions they blow the first one then they get a grudge box and proceed to blow at least two to four more..😁 I don't think I want to chain unless I'm going to go race the bike on the track I'm good 👍🏽😊
Show me where a chain "robs" power. Chain actually increases torque. Chains are waaay better for performance. Not to mention the gears changes that cab made easily. Also the chain us way simpler to replace. I got a bone stock twincam 88 with a modded carb and 2into1 and I've destroyed the belt once dropping the clutch. Belt are for grandpa riders. I've beat bikes just like mine with big bore kits. Sometimes going fast is all about the rider. Horse power means nothing if you cant ride HARD.
You did the big bore and didn't port the heads that is a must been doing heads for 50 years my 114 with my head work and a 468 cam 5.5 injectors cat out of the stock pipe and tuned by American Speed and machine 139 hp and 136 tork the heads alone were worth 8 hp kibble white valves and it's a tire burner 1st rhrough4 stock bikes suck!
Bottom line ....if you want it reliable , leave it alone , want to spend thousands , start searching for power or torque you either can't use or isn't logical
I'm 75 and haven't riden a bike in 27 years and never a Harley because they didn't have the power I wanted but viewing your video got me looking at my checkbook in a new way. Great information!!

What tuner are you running and exhaust? Full or slip-ons?
Something is missing. You should be getting close to 150HP with that engine. Tune, Exhaust, Intake Manifold, Throttle Body
Just curious what was the rough cost on that? If you're in that 7 ish grand mark than potentially a turbo mightve been a better purchase.
A tuner around me is getting 120hp-134 out of a 117 with just cam change. Your numbers are way low.

OK Bro, what kind of MPG are you getting? I'm looking at going to a 124 also.
With these mods that you have added, what is your mpg and range like now?
210 a tank
What kind of front rim do you have?
Tall the 117 is close to 100 HP stock I don’t know where you get your information from
Great video Tall.
Thank you
Awesome videos as always. You going for a pro charger next? I'm sure that will be more power than you thought possible in a touring bike.
Are you out of Knoxville
Question I have is, what did your mileage end up at compared to stock with $4.00 plus gas.
I get about 210 out of a 6 gallon tank
I have a mate of mine that has a 131 in a RK with 179hp and 189ft normally aspirated
Don’t worry about the gas just rip the throttle 😂
Zippers is cool but I love S&S. To each is own I guess. They both make great products. I have a S&S 107 to 129 big bore kit. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Tall, for a total package what is the cost I'm looking at.
What up Tall? Bro which do you like better tab performance 4.5 zombies or khrome werks 4.5?

Hello Tall. Did you have to due a dyno tune on the bike since you put a thunder max on it?
Yes, check out the video in the play list.
159 cc leading edge from Arizona
Thank you ! well done !
Did you see a big mileage drop per tank or not too drastic?
No, 210 a tank
@@TravelingTall awesome, good to know!
Good information.
Thanks
Great video!
I’m curious as to how much it all cost
$19.99
Can you ride it mellow with that kit and turn it in when you need the juice or is it some screech the tire machine barely touching the throttle?
Yes, I ride it in the rain.
I wish I knew all this before I bought a 114
Thanks for watching and commenting.
Nice ride brother 👍
Thank you
Great information 🔥
What do you mean 2into1 into 2? Ghost pipe
2 into 1 pipe back into 2 it merges in the middle.
How many miles are on it now?
30k plus I haven't checked in a while.

Pull the bottom end out and do bottom end work .. cost of poker goes WAYYYYY up

Yep! For sure, I have one to.
Long story short, a new engine.
Quickshifter?
Like your videos great information like the sound of that bike I have m8 107
Trask in your future 😊
Sounds like you are about to put a Trask turbo on your bike.
Wonder if you’ll need to get that new tranny and chain then.
More horsepower means RDRS option
I only use Amsoil products
Show me where a chain "robs" power. Chain actually increases torque. Chains are waaay better for performance. Not to mention the gears changes that cab made easily. Also the chain us way simpler to replace. I got a bone stock twincam 88 with a modded carb and 2into1 and I've destroyed the belt once dropping the clutch. Belt are for grandpa riders. I've beat bikes just like mine with big bore kits. Sometimes going fast is all about the rider. Horse power means nothing if you cant ride HARD.
Nice review keep up the good work traveling tall
Do we really need a big bore bike? Being 75 years old, own a 2020 FXDR
114CID for my riding needs, I'm happy.
Is that lame, for me, no. 🤠🇵🇭🇺🇲
How much did it cost you?
That’s the question everyone wants to know
Dope video
Traveling tall not to be rude but you are wrong on the breakout 117 hp it makes 101 hp
Zipper's 128# 💪2023
😎👍
😎
Your wrong, my 117ci m8 cvo has 107hp @ 127ftpds torque!!
A "Stock 117" doesn't have over 100 rwhp.
ruclips.net/video/d1_WwL4LTw4/видео.html
A cammed 117 can make that and more.
Bottom line ....if you want it reliable , leave it alone , want to spend thousands , start searching for power or torque you either can't use or isn't logical
Zippers will tell you it dynos a high number it don't Dyno that they are junk
