  • I recommend you check this valve, I found mine was sitting stuck - may throw emissions code, and affect engine performance and mpg. Be sure you secure back properly the electrical connector by depressing the metal clip then pushing it closed with some force

    I had a ECM-4007 or po447 low purge flow plus a tighten gas cap message that turned in to a small evap leak code, followed by large evap leak. Its worth checking the line from the Vapor canister to the purge valve. There is a small flexible section where it travels near the passenger front wheel. This 1/4"ID hose can start to wear out. I finally found my issue! near the flexible section of hose mentioned the hard line travels under the bellow that connects to the inner tie rod on the power steering rack. My hard line was crushed and torn in this tight location. Worth a check easy to replace the hard line or put a piece of 1/4" hose to replace the cracked section. Either way I paid a shop to do a smoke test and they were completely useless finding this. I was luck enough to find it myself with my little mityvac hand vaccuum pump.

    DOUBLE CHECK gas vapors hose clips fully back in place and also there are 2 o-rings on the hose, a black one and an orange one. Careful because the black one may fall from there when you remove the hose from the sensor. You certainly don't want gas vapors to accumulate inside the engine bay while the car is parked.
    The electrical connector is also annoying to undo and to place back, because the wire is short. The metal spring clip needs kept depressed - be sure you secure back properly the electrical connector by depressing the metal clip then pushing it closed with some force

      No worries. It's just direct contact with gasoline that is not healthy. I remember back in my country, people were sucking gasoline to transfer from canisters. Ouch. That would cause mouth cancer.

    This is malfunctioning on my sister’s 2015 GTI. It’s in the rear. Diagnosis involved voltage readings from single grounded 4 wire plug.

    Interesting article on Evap Canister systems in cars (may help you diagnose problems, keep in mind we also have problems with the J hose near the charcoal canister on P2 Volvos) www.agcoauto.com/content/news/p2_articleid/294

    So when you say “sticking” does that mean yours was stuck closed with power? What symptoms did you have with it being stuck?

    • @Peppermint1
      @Peppermint1  4 месяца назад +1

      Yes, mine stuck closed. Would give evap code - this can be other things as well, such as cracked hose at the charcoal canister

    I have a 09 s80. Recently I noticed mpg dropped from 25 to 21 mpg. I did not see obvious vacuum leak. I use vida to monitor EVAP flow. It’s reading is 0.36 g/s. Do you know what the normal reading is? I don’t have DTC codes. There is must have some leaks, either vacuum or evap. Thank you

      Try perhaps turning the CC captions on. To sum it up, the valve must 'click' when connected to a 9V battery, and also you should be able to blow air by mouth through the side of the valve when it's open (powered)
