Af1 is an easy shoe. Easy to clean, goes with a lot. However, when someone is trying to look somewhere inbetween casual and dressed up, I think the 550 looks better. The af1 is a nice shoe, usually an easy shoe too. But the 550 is less bulky and looks a little nicer when worn that way.
Definitely been meaning to add some sambas, Stan smiths and killshots to the collection. My go to’s have been all white leather chucks. When they get dirty, i hit the outlet and cop another pair lol

Banana Republic Factory sneakers are definintely a good price and true minimalist. However for a little more quality, I like Beckett Simonon. I think they are good quality for the price and if you are patient you can sometimes snag them for $99 a pair. However you have to wait several weeks for them.

New Republic Kurt and Supply lab Damian are two great affordable plain leather choices, Ive had both in white and black. As a older guy I make a conscious choice to not wear sneakers too often, my mostly year round default shoes are suede desert boots which cover the ground for most days,so adding the times when I need to wear boots or dress shoes these decent quality sneakers last a long time.
I rock with the all white Jack Purcell by Converse. A timeless classic. I have the ones with the super thick insoles and will re-up with a new pair this week.

Plus the leather is high quality - barely any creasing on mine.
