I got an impression that it’s an okay sneaker, it can work. However a year ago I bought a GOOD quality sneaker from ECCO… for ~300$ (maybe it’s just their pricing policy in Georgia 🇬🇪). They have some rubber-like thick soles, with actual layer of rubber on the bottom for increased durability (learned that from your channel). Whole upper is made of white leather so thick that I even with my very poor sight see it when I look down. The insole is double-layered: top is leather, bottom is thick and ergonomically (?) shaped foam. HOWEVER underneath the insole there was a material and all-around seams just like in this Nike sneaker in the video… i guess it’s not that bad, considering the sole is really thick? I was pleased with myself when I bought them after binge watching your channel 😅 The best things about this Ecco pair: i recently was at the sports equipment store and tried on some of new & fancy “ergonomic” shoes by Adidas. One pair with a very rigid plastic sole was good enough… until I put my shoes back on. And don’t they feel like a cloud!!! I was wondering if that bit of foam on the insole was the end of comforting parts of my sneakers… but seems like it isn’t!
Bottom line for my previous comment: I enjoy all of the videos on your channel! However, as a woman, I have practical interest in the smaller part of your content, like sneaker reviews. It had already proven very educative for me, so I wish you continued digging into sneakers alongside your boots content! Thanks for what you do! 🌟
Picked em up on sale for $40. Honestly stuck around for way longer than the other shoes I've owned. Very light and easy to pair with anything. Perfect summer shoe in my opinion
@@jaedenk999 u deliberately ignoring the word sale or? like my guy. SALE. sales can be anywhere, nordstrom rack, nike outlets, nike sites during certain times, nike stores. were you born yesterday? do we really gotta explain what a sale is to you? you gotta get lucky, happen upon a store having a summer sale or bogo or something and find the shoe. obviously u not just gonna find em on nike for retail and be like hey why arent they 40? also its 2023, jcrew went out in 2020. during that time these shoes were dirt cheap for a while.
Hey man, it’d be really cool if y’all did a comparison vid between other famous low-profile sneakers like the Sambas, the Mexico 66s, the Suedes, etc and see the differences in their construction
I have got the same idea too. Besides, I would love to see how would Rose Anvil did differently to make a better Killshot 2, without the swoosh (legal issues) like how Hender Scheme did with some popular models
I got a pair this past spring/summer. They've become my favorite sneakers. I work in retail (actually for JCF) and they're the perfect for standing on a concrete floor for 8hrs a day.
Okay, I’m a big sneaker collector, and absolutely love these. Super simple, super comfortable, and super cheap. My local Nike outlet has a bunch for around $40. Where you were talking about the fabric wearing out in the heel, I’ve had my pair for about 3 years. It’s not worn out, and I wear them more than any of my Jordan’s or Dunks. Personally I think these are a great, cheap, daily shoe, that looks even better beat up a little.
I feel that court visions are a far better value for money sneaker with the same quality leather u get on the air forces and decent construction . Thats my take and its a slept on sneaker from nike due to thw over hyped air force 1's which is basically the same sneaker as the air force 1 without the air pocket and half an inch shorter than the air forces. But if u love the killshot, you do you. If u enjoy it, rock it.
I've had a pair since 2014 I think. And I wore them constantly throughout the spring to fall. No issues like he's describing at the heel. I'm with you. I love these shoes. They look good with almost anything and are a great staple for a casual wardrobe.
I finally grabbed pairs last year which is wild as I am a J.Crew consumer and huge sneaker collectors/purchaser... It was easier to find dunks sitting from 2009-2022... these have been on my list for ages. I have no issues with my pairs. I love em.
I’d say it was easy to start finding SB Dunks sitting on sale racks at skate shops around the Black Box, but definitely Gold Box, era in 2006-2007. The 2010s were absolute cake to obtain SB Dunks. Ever since late 2019 to mid 2020, the hype train took off for the second time. People used to get the De La Soul (2014) Dunk Low from outlets. I don’t think I paid full price for a single Dunk in the 2010s.
I just have such a soft spot for gumsole shoes and low profile shoes so it's hard for me to hate these (especially the ones with the green swooshes). I still wouldn't buy them but I love the look.
These shoes not only look great, they feel amazing. The gum soles are perfect for morning walks or at the gym. The gum soles also look unique and are thicker than the rest other sneakers out there Idc about "hard cushion" or whatever. Jus use some cushion it's a no brainer. I use these shoes for hours and hours without any problems Why would someone dismiss these shoes and totally ignore the classic tennis iconic look is beyond me. Heck I'd even pay $75 for them. Got the navy blues and the green swoosh ones! Peace!
I just can't see where they'd fit in my rotation...for me alot of things have to be right for me to buy a shoe. cushion is #1 for me and while u can use a hefe luxx insole for a little comfort, thin outsole and "classic" (or old) design can't justify even $75 Shoot i can Go pick up a air max 270 react rn for less than $70
Absolutely love the silhouette and the minimal look. They have better aesthetics than all the overpriced white sneakers. But sweet jesus those were stupidly overpriced with J Crew. That must be the most inexpensive shoe Nike makes.
I have 2 pairs, the white leather blue logo and nylon mesh red logo, from J Crew back in ~2018-2020. Had to go to their store at South Coast Plaza since their inventory was so low. I LOVE the look of the leather/blue ones, but I did notice the cheap materials really quickly. I think it's the plastic layering on the leather, but they would make my feet sweat after an hour's wear. They eventually became a gym shoe, which worked nicely because of their really low profile (I now use Feiyue as a general gym shoe). The nylon/red do not look as great IMO, but they breathe so much better. Much better as a summer shoe. As for their construction, neither pair has fallen apart. They just now sit at the back of my closet.
I have/had six pairs of Killshots. Two from J. Crew, and four direct from Nike. The two from J. Crew were significantly higher quality than the pairs I purchased from Nike after J. Crew went under.
A good comparison to this is the ASICS GSM. Similar style of shoe from the same era that’s still in production today. I’d be curious to see how they compare
I really like look of these shoes, but feeling every rock under my foot was super annoying and they are pretty terrible to stand around in for long periods of time. I got mine in March of 2022 and in less than 4 months, the foxing tape was showing signs of separation from the sole and I got a bunch of dirt and even a couple pebbles wedged in there, so I barely wear them out any more which is a huge bummer. You nailed most of my issues with these shoes in the last 3 minutes. I would love these if they were constructed with a little bit more care or durability in mind, but that’s not how Nike (or fast fashion in general) works.
I think I will stick with Puma Suede Classics for shoes with this look. By the way have you seen that New Balance has rereleased their Rainier hiking boot? Would be cool to see you take a look at them.
Have to say I love my Killshots. I had the same thoughts initially - they seemed really cheap and poorly made. I figured they would die a quick death but time has proven otherwise. I got these back in 2017, paid slightly over MSRP on resale, and they've held up better than most sneakers I've owned. They have a nice patina and the leather actually looks great. Plus they're so flat and flexy they function pretty much like a barefoot shoe, but without looking ridiculous. I would love to someday replace them with the GPS in the similar colorway but not at the prices those are selling for. I'll probably just get another pair of Killshots in sail.
I bought these in 2017, wore em regularly for 6 years and just bought another pair. Love the look of these above all the copycat gum sole white leather shoes, even if these are built with some lower tier materials.
I have a pair of these in the all white color way and I get a ton of compliments on them. I don’t wear them a lot because they aren’t very comfortable, but they are a stylish shoe for short duration wear.
nike bought cole hann in 1988 and after seeing the sales on more formal shoes/ resoluble they probably thought that the trend was gonna head to what they are doing today. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A NIKE 1972 CUT IN HAF VIDEO. keep up the great work, everyone comment for an algorithm boost.
This video just crushed me! I absolutely love this shoe. I just bought the same j crew pair you cut apart on Monday, for 16.99 from a discount box store. I had been looking at buying a pair for at least the last 5 years, but as you stated the price must be right. For me 16.99 is an absolute no brainer, no matter how cheaply made they are. I am also a huge fan of the GPS and want a pair badly, but I can't find them for less than 125 bucks in my size.
This was my entry into stylish white sneakers. For a sub $100 shoe, these have held up for 3 years and I still get compliments when I wear them. Now I mostly wear my Reebok Club C 85 vintage and Onitsuka Tiger GSM which our better quality for comparable prices.
I honestly always wanted a pair of Killshots, and not for the hype I just love the silhouette and colourway. But after seeing how cheaply they are made, I will probably never buy a pair, especially when there are so many nice sneakers out there, even from Nike themselves. Speaking of, could you find yourself a pair of Blazer Low 77's? Thanks lol
I have one I got in a nike outlet store for around 40$. Absolutely love these, they are great beaters, look nice and easy to clean. For the price I got them they are super worth it, personally I wouldn’t pay retail or above.
Had mine for over 2 years, they are holding up well despite the cheaper materials. I am not super hard on shoes these days since I have a decent rotation.
I missed the old cutting in half tool usage which gave you that Asmr aspect when you chopped up those sneakers. If possible please bring that back. Love your vids btw
i am curious to see you cut in half some shoes from Moonstar/Shoes Like Pottery out of Japan. they advertise their shoes as having been made using a method to vulcanize rubber called “ka-ryu” where they’re heated in a kiln for over an hour. it’d be really interesting to see if there are measurable differences in how the rubber performs compared to other vulcanized shoes. would tune in here or on the second channel.
I second this, as they’re a more expensive Japanese version of converse, so it will be interesting to see the construction differences and whether the premium is worth it.
I stopped wearing shoes "sneakers" yrs ago for reasons such as this and after personal experiences with quality issues ill never touch another Nike again. I have found tac boots that I love and have not disappointed me for the last 15yrs or so. The tac boots I wear I even run in as well as daily wear. The only thing else I will wear is a good pair of cowboy boots. Both have obviously gone up in price but still just over $200 Canadian and last me years!! Which is far more than I can Say for even the last pair of expensive running shoes I bought. As a bonus of lasting and comfortable they actually have real support in them. So I dont have to worry about avoidable injuries as much.
Hey Rose Anvil, question about Shore A in outsoles: In your experience does outsoles between Shore A 60-70 are good for walking on wet surfaces? Does higher Shore A equals more durability but less gripness?
Thanks for the fair review. For two dollars more Nike could have made a solid sneaker out of it. But it is all about profit and cost cutting for them. For 60 dollars they are ok…
I got my 1st pair of these a few years ago and loved them and got so many compliments on them! They lasted me about 2 years of almost everyday use. I recently got another pair that I just ordered off the Nike website and they feel cheaper now and the black swoosh was faded from the factory too and the leather seemed even worse. I'm not sure what happened, but they went from my everyday shoes to now barely wearing them
Have you looked at Ridgemont boots? They looked cheap at first but broke in good and have held up surprisingly well. The low tops on the other hand not so much.
Love your videos specially when you go into the history of the shoes you’re cutting into. Personally I find these shoes as generic as AF1 and very “mall-core”
As a general rule, I try to avoid NIKE, I have recently came by the Stefan Jankowski line of Nike and was wondering if you had the chance to check them out.
Rose Anvil should do the Reebok club c vs the Reebok club c 85 tv. The leather and material quality is significantly different in basically the same shoe
Recently got a pair for summer, as I have no white shoes. Found em for €40s. Even if they only last a year it will be worth it. I’ll let you know what I think when the arrive.
Did you send your leather cutting tool in for sharpening? What’s with the disposable razor substitution? Thanks for the video. I no longer want the kill shot and now hunting for the GPS.
I never understood the J Crew hype with these and feel exactly the same about vulcanized soles-- they always separate and don't flex as well as a cup sole. The Killshot 1 is a nice, cheap alternative with nylon mesh upper instead of the leather, a cup sole that won't pull away and the close-to-the-ground feel remains via a dimple pattern on the outsole that Nike would use again on the Challenge Courts [another shoe made popular by a J Crew collab] and the holy grail Mac Attacks which are rumored to be re-releasing this year. They are super light and easy to wear. Grab a pair of mark-down KS1s for $50 and beat them into the ground like you did when you were 12.
For future videos maybe it would be worth looking into metatarsal guard boots, I know a lot of fabrication plants require them now and the selection is slowly growing every year. As far as the nikes go, 60-70 sounds reasonable considering it looks like it would be a vans competitor. Anything more than 70 i would not pay though. Great video as always.
Love the channel bro. Just wondering if you were thinking of doing a video on the Off White X Nike Terra Forma? It's basically a sneaker/hiking boot hybrid. It has an air unit and it's claimed to have 3 separate layers of foam plus the outsole. The outsole also has writing moulded into it. Just thought it would be a very interesting shoe to cut apart and see what's actually inside it
For me, i bought this pair for about $30 at a nike outlet store. Only downside for me was how it was digging into my heel in one shoe and it made wearing it long term quite uncomfortable. That said, I'm not going to complain too much about a cheap pair of shoes that looks fairly cool. I hope I can try out the GPS sometimes though.
I’ve had the blue kill shot for 5 years and it still looks good as a low profile lifestyle sneaker- it’s a great alternative to the low profile white shoes that are so over done - the kill shot actually looks better as it ages - I don’t burn or cut mine so these tests mean nothing it’s all about the look
Older shoes designed in the 1970s and earlier were much more minimalist, thinner and with better feel underfoot. Many companies have re-introduced older models (and some of us remember them them first time around 🙂) and it wasn't until the mid to late 1980s that sneakers and sports shoes became over complicated, over cushioned and expensive. Up until then they were just an evolution of the traditional plimsolls and relatively cheap (compared to modern sneakers) and also not expected to be hugely durable. They were intended to be worn playing sports, not everyday.
Nike should do like Timberland: have two lines of the same shoe- an affordable entry line that gets you the look for the least amount of money, and a somewhat pricier line where they don't cut the corners and use better materials in a few key areas.
I got a pair from J. Crew when they dropped in 2019 ... because... I couldn't find the Adidas Rod Laver's in green that I had rocked for years and years as a simple summer sneaker, and the "sail green" called to me. With some care, my pair have lasted 5 summers. I bought them for a smidge under retail from the J Crew that was in DUMBO (for those familiar) because I was a regular and am a teacher. I love them. They are exclusively summer sneakers because winter wear just doesn't make sense for such a shoe. In the five years the only sign of wear/tear has been in the crease of the toe but no one notices unless I point it out. What I have noticed is that mine are a bit heavier than the one I see in Nike currently and wonder if this pair is post J. Crew or the current Nike's
Hi there Mr.! Love your channel, think that you should review Paraboot shoes! Very good and sturdy french footwear, you will have a blast cutting thru them!
I know exactly when they popped off back in 2016/2017 with the release of Spider-Man homecoming!! they were worn by Tom holland in the movie and going to high school in 2016 it was everywhere!!
instead of buying a cheap nike just because its nike hype, i got some relatively good leather and cupsole sneaker from a local business. they even repair the shoes years later too.
Love the look of them, I think they're a timeless classic looking sneaker. But cheap. Classic Nike cheap. And that sucks. If they made a full (quality)leather version that was stitched and not glued to all hell and priced it in the 150 range I'd get them.
Love these videos. Would you consider doing the New Balance Rainier OG? The one with brown leather and blue cordura. The leather looks very good in photos.
i would love this kind of deconstruction taken to clothing, jeans, jackets, everything. Is a pricey designer label worth it? is a gore-tex jacket from different brands noticably different? can anyone recommend a "rose anvil for clothing"?

Had mine for over 2 years, they are holding up well despite the cheaper materials. I am not super hard on shoes these days since I have a decent rotation.
I lost a pair at a pool back in 2014. Couldn’t find these for sale anywhere for about 3 years.
i’ve had the shoes for 3 years now and honestly they’ve held up, dirty asf but not falling apart after all the almost near daily use
It'd be dope to see a killshot og vs killshot 2. Killshot OG is one of my fav pairs
Hey Rose Anvil, question about Shore A in outsoles:
In your experience does outsoles between Shore A 60-70 are good for walking on wet surfaces? Does higher Shore A equals more durability but less gripness?
Thanks for the fair review. For two dollars more Nike could have made a solid sneaker out of it. But it is all about profit and cost cutting for them. For 60 dollars they are ok…
I got my 1st pair of these a few years ago and loved them and got so many compliments on them! They lasted me about 2 years of almost everyday use. I recently got another pair that I just ordered off the Nike website and they feel cheaper now and the black swoosh was faded from the factory too and the leather seemed even worse. I'm not sure what happened, but they went from my everyday shoes to now barely wearing them
I love the classic vintage nike sneakers. Really dont like how thin the forefoot is though. I'd pass on them due to that
As inspiration I would say this is my number one favorite shoe. I just picked up a second pair. My first pair are super beat up
Does it good shoe for Skateboarding? It look like skateshoe tho
Have you looked at Ridgemont boots? They looked cheap at first but broke in good and have held up surprisingly well. The low tops on the other hand not so much.
Who buys a pair of Nike shoes wears them two or three times then discards them or abandons them in a closet? I’ve never heard of such wastefulness.
I like this love/hate style video.. Keep it up bro
I've had my Killshot 2 for three years now. From the get go they've been my absolute smelliest shoe.
But as a kickaround sneaker that looks good, they hit that spot pretty well. Mine look well worn but I kind of like that about them.
Love your videos specially when you go into the history of the shoes you’re cutting into. Personally I find these shoes as generic as AF1 and very “mall-core”
Would love to see an Onitsukatiger Cerrano CL review in the future!
Gum sole shoes are just something I love. But I agree anything over $60 would feel wrong
I'm glad you had a band saw. However, the industrial arts teacher in me was going crazy over your lack of safety protocols.
I'd love to see the Puma Suede cut in half. Those are a definite classic.
Daaaaaamn look how fresh my man Weston looks with that pendleton jacket
The point of vulcanized soles for skate shoes is that there's more durable rubber around where you need it for abrasion resistance
Skeakers from small brands would be interesting. For example Novesta.
Puma Super Liga is a direct comparison to this shoe. It’s probably a fraction better on materials used. & under that $60 price point.
Very good and sturdy french footwear, you will have a blast cutting thru them!
how's the sizing/fit compared to the GPS? I wear 13 in all of my kill shots, but haven't pulled the trigger on the gps yet.
I know exactly when they popped off back in 2016/2017 with the release of Spider-Man homecoming!! they were worn by Tom holland in the movie and going to high school in 2016 it was everywhere!!
Got mine in 2018 and still in great condition
I love my nike kill shot 2's, most durable minimalist pair i had in awhile
For skateboarding vulcanized is grippier and more flexible. I think that’s what gives it better boardfeel.
I think it would be interesting to compare this to sambas or gazelles or most importantly spezials from Adidas
Hello, can you do a comparison with the nothing new high tops and chuck 70?
Could you perhaps do a PONY atop? would love to see one of those broken down.
Best content on yt
instead of buying a cheap nike just because its nike hype, i got some relatively good leather and cupsole sneaker from a local business. they even repair the shoes years later too.
I'd love to see you teardown the nike more uptempo 96, it has the gimmick factor but it does feel great. would be interesting to see how its made
Cut a pair of the air max 95 Carhartt WIP collabs in half. Can get em pretty inexpensive used. I love mine.
Love the video🔥...
Can you do Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 next?
You should do a video on the new luxe Stan Smiths!
Picked one up for 30 at Nike Outlet. Summer shoe for 30 bucks works for me.
There's also the killshot OG which I prefer. Not sure if the materials or build is better though
Zero padding. I'm returning for the sb or I might try the GPS you mentioned
Can you cut in half the Jordan 12? It’s the first Jordan with full length zoom and materials seem really interesting compared to the 11s
@RoseAnvil, what do you think about the Otnisuka GSM?
You should cut into a pair of Golden Goose Yeah Optic White
i would love this kind of deconstruction taken to clothing, jeans, jackets, everything. Is a pricey designer label worth it? is a gore-tex jacket from different brands noticably different? can anyone recommend a "rose anvil for clothing"?
