Brilliant trick! It gets complicated to explain subtleties so please bear with me! As you performed here Sean, removing the bottom card of the top half of the deck after the cross-cut force is logical and more deceptive than omitting the card reversal procedure and simply taking the top card of the bottom half after the cut, I will try this with a slight variation. Keeping pretty much everything the same except, instead of removing that card first and then showing all the various other places that could have been cut to, I will show those other places in the top half first, using patter such as, "You could have cut to any of these places... " Show some other cards, "However, you cut to this card." Placing the bottom card of top half face down on the table. "And you didn't cut lower down in this packet as you could have..." Show some places. Then spread out the cards face up, have the prediction read.... I feel this would take the heat out of quickly removing the bottom card and the rest in this modus operandi.. Absolutely love the effect though! I'll definitely be using it! Thanks a million! 🙂
Great video. And I am very impressed that you mention all the sources, which rarely anyone does these days. Keep up the great work. Best wishes from Düsseldorf, Germany.
Great, well-constructed routine. The handling, subtleties and convincers really make it. Clearly you put a lot of thought into it. And I got to be the 500th like.
Thanks Sean! John Bannon is a fan of this force which he uses in a number of his tricks. I especially like his in-the-hands version which he calls the "Christ-Cross Force"
This is great Sean! Thank you going over additional handlings to this great force! I am going to try this when I get a chance. Great performance as always! I hope you and the family have been good! It’s great to see how far you have grown since the last time I was here. #Roadto20K!
@@SeanDevine I have been doing good, Sean. I have been really busy with college since September. I am in my third semester going for my bachelor’s degree in history so that has been time consuming. I actually am performing in about a week for my community college at the Halloween Party they are having. I am going to need to write up a list of easy effects that spectators love since I don’t have that much time to perform. With the party, I try to perform every year since I have become great friends with the director of campus life (who is also in charge of the party). Another nice thing about the party, besides performing, is I also get paid. Otherwise than that, college consumes a big part of my day so I don’t get much time to relax but today I actually had a day off because I am caught up with my work. So overall, I have been doing good Sean. I appreciate you asking!
Could you do a video on the Convincing control? I saw that explained somewhere a long time ago and I can't find it anymore, but i seem to remember it was, indeed, convincing. Also I loved seeing you perform for someone else!
I was fooled by the performance. WOW! I use the cross-cut force differently - I call it the "crossless cross-cut" force: I still use the card on the top of the pack (not the bottom one like you did here), but I don't put the bottom pack on top at all, instead, I immediately let them shuffle or shuffle myself the bottom half and do a quick trick with it. Once I get back to what was the top half, I say "Remember, you cut here before!" and they are totally convinced they did, as time misdirection works well in this case. Now I will add the subtlety of using the bottom card, this is BRILLIANT!
I like the idea of doing a quick trick with the bottom half of the deck. I might have to give that a try. Makes the time delay so much stronger. Thanks for this little tidbit!!!
That is a clever idea. Thanks for sharing it. After they shuffle the bottom half, I would be inclined to make the quick trick a one-phase Ambitious Card. Just a DL to show them the "top" card, turn the supposed top card face down, insert it halfway into the deck, and have them push it in flush. Hand them the cards and ask them to wave their hand and then to turn the top card face up themself to find it has magically come to the top. In my experience, the very first phase of the Ambitious Card is the strongest and gets the best reaction, so as a stand-alone effect it is super strong. Also, effects that happen in the spectator's own hands are among the very strongest. Then, when you show that you have correctly predicted the card they "cut" to, you have a killer one-two punch.
Before you touch the cards, you could get them to take the bottom card from the top packet. That avoids any suggestion that you might have used a sleight to force the card on them. Once they've removed their card, you can go into the convincer routine, but you can also point out that at no point did you touch the deck until after they chose their card. You can even get them to keep their hand on their picked card, so that there's no way you could have interfered with their selection. For the reveal, they can turn their card over too, so you never touched their card throughout the whole routine.
I think you will be happy that you did. I've been regularly using the cross-cut force for over 30 years, including for many sharp-eyed and/or skeptical spectators, and have not been questioned or called on it a single time. A bit of time misdirection between the spectator cutting and them looking at the card they "cut" to is really key. My eyesight is not good enough to discern the markings on the marked decks I've tried, so I use a subtle method for glimpsing the top or bottom card after the spectator has shuffled, which is justified and flies by every time.
..The FORCE is strong with this one lol I love the nonsensical questions (could literally see the question mark over her head). Where can I get my "marked cards" design printed onto a deck - my own custom design..??!
Hi Sean, love your videos!!! Just a little thought: what if, when you pick the top pack, the spectator slides the bottom card to the table, and then you show the "other" possible cuts? Best regards from Portugal
@@MyTardisGoWhoosh He touches the deck anyhow. The point is that his method relied on a marking system, and you having a marked deck, which was not mentioned in the title. Having "BEST" in all caps probably didn't help.

One nice subtlety you can add to it is having the force card second from top. So after the dealing procedure you have them burn top and bottom cards. then proceed with the cut. It really sells it even more. I think I learned it from Benjamin Earl.
Oh man this was soooooooo good. She was a great participant also. Kinda gave ya a hard time with the shuffling and inspecting the deck which makes the effect so much stronger in my opinion. This one was extra awesome!!!!!
@@SeanDevine I used to not care for live performances back when I needed to learn all the moves and effects, but now that I can create my own material it's nice to see others performing so I can learn things like audience/participant management and just how to interact with other humans without being a weirdo lmao. So far it's about 50/50 😅😅
The live performance was a great addition! You should do more of them. The live reaction is so much more inspiring.
Yes, I have to agree. That was a nice touch.
I’ve watched A LOT of your videos, and I think this one may be my favorite just because it’s great to see you perform for someone other than us :)

I agree. The best force by far. Natural, self working, hands off.
And more live performances are a must for future videos😊
